I agree with you totally. There are some easier and more fulfilling patterns than stippling to start your FMQ adventure off with. And sharp, pointy spots in designs were of great help to me (domestic machine). Thanks a lot for your videos, Susan. Greetings to you and to all the viewers from Poland 🙂

Thank you so much! Took your advice and am now quilting with loops and “drop-ins”. Had my Cutie frame with Jazz 2 sewing machine since last November & hadn’t really done anything because I found it difficult to meander. Just entered my first show.

Thank you for this topic. I am very new to free motion and trying to get a handle on loops. I hadn’t thought to add other designs into it. I hav a sit down Capri that I’m so enjoying. ❤

I'm definitely not a beginner. but I do stipple my teeshirts quilt mostly.. they aren't quilters, but stippling is good for following seams too.

There's nothing wrong with a good stipple...I just don't think it's the very easiest design to learn 😄

Hello! I have learned so much my watching your videos. However, I’m stumped on a Basic Grey Basket Weave pattern (I don’t have robotic) so would a custom or edge to edge look best? Struggling with finding a quilting pattern.

Only you can decide! I'm partial to edge to edge, and I think it can be truly beautiful, but some folks love the look of custom and it's worth the time and cost to them. Check out my Pinterest page of E2E here (these are designs I quilt freehand): pin.it/2gS8JBA8b

Catching you later in the day. I am practicing on some Charity Quilts. The first was great, the second a nightmare. I guess it was one of those days. So now that I have ripped it out twice so tomorrow will be a brand new day. QUESTION. Are some of the designs a lot more fiddly than others.

Well, yes. It's so much like handwriting....but the simplest and single shapes (like the loop) will in general be the easiest. Then add more difficult, or combined shapes.

It would help if you talk less and show examples.
