When I first started this game, when my light level was at the absolute minimum my friend who was guiding me dragged my confused ass through leviathan for the shaders, I was able to get selected and treasured, and the people who joined us were thankfully patient since I was a new light
I remember the first time I ever played this, me and my buddy thought it was a regular mission so we hopped in and tried for 6 hours to beat it and never figured it out, up until recently I never knew it was a raid
Really enjoying these raid documentaries, it's cool to review and reflect on all of the greatest activities to ever come from Destiny. Hope we see the last raids get covered soon soon.
D2 Leviathan was my first raid experience with the Destiny franchise, I pugged it and I will never forget how amazing it was, when I discovered the underbelly it blew my mind even more.
The callouts in the leviathan were almost as abysmal than the callouts in last wish. I once played with an lfg team with a guy that called sun wheel and called axes pliers. I see where he's coming from but damn.
Leviathan is actually my favourite raid in all of destiny. I’m a day 1 d1 player so I was there for vault, crotas end etc. but for some reason just really connected and enjoyed leviathan. It’s the only raid I enjoy teaching aswell, I think because of the way the encounters are designed you can walk people through a lot of what they need to do without starting the encounter. For example with riven, it’s very difficult to explain the fight without starting and actually progressing through since people need to see all the different rooms. Anyway just my 2 cents. :)
I never played D1 and this was my first raid ever. I got to ve honest, no matter how many raids i do, i always come back to this one. I was in one of the top 10 fire teams to complete it and it was a blast. I still remember my own clan talking shit about this raid because they were comparing it to D1 raids, but i really liked it. I just hope i am not the only ome.
I'd say this Raid is still the most mechanically sound of D2's raids (and I've done all of them but Last Wish, which from what I've observed is also pretty solid) -- rarely do I feel cheated from a wipe, nothing requires the coordination of a Navy Seal Team like some aspects of Garden or SoS, and it's not a glorified strike like Eater of Worlds.
@@schooper. Eh, I've beaten every element aside from the harpy-boss with relative ease, but something run-endingly bad always goes down on the boss-eye-shooter-team's end. Spire of Star's boss is more what I have in mind with regards to requiring every member of a random LFG team to run up and down the map like that one sport in Fantastic Mr Fox.
@@schooper. i spent 6 HOURS on that goddamn boss I beat every other encounter in 30 minutes but the boss and the motes flying everywhere glitching through the floor. The boss facing the wrong way during damage phase. It was altogether horrible. But for some reason its my favorite raid.
Yo Evan, you’re sitting on a gold mine with those Calus voice lines. You should try and do ASMR’s with them. “Calus reads you the story of Thorn and Last Word on a rainy day”
Evan I really don’t mind the length of the video, and I don’t think anyone else does either. Even if I can’t watch it all the way through all at once I always finish the video because they are interesting and fun. Keep doing what you do.
As someone who only played through the first Destiny a handful of times with no DLC experience, going into D2 was actually super fun. The campaign was enjoyable, especially the opening sequence and the social City area at the end. I'm a filthy casual who just liked exploring the planets and doing public events and lost sectors, so i never felt like the double primary thing was an issue.
As a Destiny 1 veteran, I promise you you’re not alone. D2 year 1 had its flaws, but I loved it for the most part, and while the double primary system took some getting used to I never really got the hate surrounding it.
@@TigerBears11 I don't think I've ever really experienced a time in D2 that i didn't enjoy until i got busy with school and didn't get to finish forsaken and unlock the dreaming city. Darn shadowkeep changes
Zachary Hull - Agreed. The game has always had its ups and downs, it’s been like that since D1 really, but I’ve never once played a main release or expansion that I haven’t enjoyed as a whole.
It really sucks that I won’t get to ever experience the early raids of destiny. I’ve played since D1 year 1 but never had a group to play with. I just joined a clan so I’m gettin stuff now, but I just wish we still had the option for these older raids
The armor, the shaders and the lore behind about Calus is godlike. At least Bungie took a different approach with raids imo, you cannot delivery Oryx or Riven levels every time.
This video is eye-opening to me, who never got to experience it. I only know the leviathan as it currently stands; covered in gross tentacles and Scorn.
i started playing in WQ. i wish i would have thought to look a video like this up when i was trying to figure out how to navigate all the challenges for the seasonal activities lol. this makes so much more sense. thanks yt autoplay
Finally? You mean two years ago? And Curtain Call was the best rocket launcher before Bad Omens. The best RPG is probably still Mountain Top, being the rare rocket propelled grenade.
I subbed on this video just because I watched at least 10 of your destiny raid videos up until now. It's funny. I don't play this game. I have no plan playing this game. But it's still really cool hearing about the world and the encounters. So yeah, keep up the good work.
I honestly love leviathan, it isn’t that good to be honest and the loot is pretty meh (apart from midnight coup, alone as a god, and sins of the past) but the encounters to me are so fun that I can look past those flaws.
Acrius is also just...MWAH, perfection. Even without its catalyst, it hits as hard as 15 trucks launched by a shoulder charge. So pretty much anything in its range is dead, no questions asked. Even supers die to one shot from Acrius. The catalyst just refines the big lug to be...less of a lug.
By the by, Evan, there’s another entrance on the right side outside if you stand on four buttons. It’s the opposite side of the Underbelly. Waterfall goes quickly to Baths, Pipes goes quickly to Dogs, Buttons go quickly to Gauntlet.

don't forget about a year later were you go back and kill a giant hive controlling cabal warrior on what? you guessed it, the leviathan.
I always loved the leviathan one of my favorite raids no matter anybody else’s opinion on it
Yeah I like this raid too, still don’t really know the underbelly but yh it’s a good raid.
I like the mechanics of the raid and I don’t particularly hate it. It was the first raid I ever done. I just hate how I have bad memories of it. Some of the people in my raid group were douchebags and ruined the experience for me.
Yeah me too. Loot is good, shaders/ cosmetics are good, and the mechanics arent too baf
Too bad you’re opinion is incorrect as the best raid is factually Kings Fall
@One Eye King no no he's got a point
The best part about this raid were the shaders, you can’t go wrong with gold shaders.
I feel like the beginning was a Michael reeves reference eh Evan
Now that you mention it me too. Gotta be
Adith P I like his stuff, I just felt like it fit here, not directly ripping, but his style is dope
Omg I didn’t think you would reply Evan and also I didn’t really mean it in a mean I meant in a more like you’re a true gamer kinda way
Also you got any tips for RUclips success
I think the ending was a cool in game lore explanation for us redoing it every week. The robot just gets replaced on reset so it doesn't break logic. It's similar to how this game explaines respawning in ghosts.
I would imagine the Calus bots are a way of saying, "yea, that's why you can keep doing Levi"
Isn't that most of the bosses?
@@Themidamultitool no other raid boss was just a replica.
@@MrDarkknight914 they still had lore reasons to their return though, like riven constantly coming back because of the wish
GoodbyeMy Angel Atheon, Crota & Oryx had no lore explanation.
@@tsukopara2054 I always explained away Atheon's return as being the Vaults time twisting properties. It may not be explicitly stated in the lore, but it makes sense to me. The rest of the bosses don't make much sense, though.
Having not played Destiny 2 at launch and coming into it later despite being a D1 player. I'm pleasantly surprised to find out when I got into it and played through the raid my first time with a group we actually got the day one raid pattern
I'm a simple man, I see Evan has made a Destiny raid video, I watch it and click 'Like'.
I’m loving how high quality these vids have gotten editing wise! The commentary is still S- tier as usual, and it’s been a few months since I’ve last watched. Keep up the good work Evan! Also, only real OGs remember the cold fusion rally barricade / merciless rally barricade meta year one on calus also the better devils meta
My favourite themed raid, i hope we get a new leviathan raid at some point
Love how datto always gets shafted by shared fate in raids
The underbelly is my favorite part of the Leviathan.
When I first started this game, when my light level was at the absolute minimum my friend who was guiding me dragged my confused ass through leviathan for the shaders, I was able to get selected and treasured, and the people who joined us were thankfully patient since I was a new light
You're the reason I listen to Cuphead ost on repeat btw
I love Leviathan and would play it day 1 if they re-released it
I remember the first time I ever played this, me and my buddy thought it was a regular mission so we hopped in and tried for 6 hours to beat it and never figured it out, up until recently I never knew it was a raid
Really enjoying these raid documentaries, it's cool to review and reflect on all of the greatest activities to ever come from Destiny. Hope we see the last raids get covered soon soon.
I ran an LFG raid group, but it was Gauntlet day, and we continued to wipe for 5 hours.
Lmaoooo gauntlet was the end of many lfg teams
D2 Leviathan was my first raid experience with the Destiny franchise, I pugged it and I will never forget how amazing it was, when I discovered the underbelly it blew my mind even more.
The callouts in the leviathan were almost as abysmal than the callouts in last wish. I once played with an lfg team with a guy that called sun wheel and called axes pliers. I see where he's coming from but damn.
I had someone call dog "animal"
@@Raime-tn1to calling dog "animal" or "wolf" isn't rly that bad tho. Atleast you can instantly recognize his point

thank for you shouting out our levi speedrun ❤️
Leviathan is actually my favourite raid in all of destiny. I’m a day 1 d1 player so I was there for vault, crotas end etc. but for some reason just really connected and enjoyed leviathan. It’s the only raid I enjoy teaching aswell, I think because of the way the encounters are designed you can walk people through a lot of what they need to do without starting the encounter. For example with riven, it’s very difficult to explain the fight without starting and actually progressing through since people need to see all the different rooms. Anyway just my 2 cents. :)
"THE GAUNTLET, BASICALLY MARIO CART BUT WITH YOUR FEEEEEEET"
its somewhat strange seeing the Leviathan all shiny and clean without the ooey gooey Darkness fungus
Much as I love it back as a patrol space I really miss the clean Leviathan.
The intro, oh my god the Michael reeves vibes. I loved it.
Watched all the other raid vids, huge nostalgia blast, u doin gods work my friend. Keep it up
watching destiny players crowd around a loot chest is like looking at cats when you pour food into the food bowl
Love your stuff my new favorite creator keep at it this is amazing
I quite like this raid if I being honest, it’s my favorite one out of all the d2 raids.
Same
Seriously? Your mind is something else. Raid was dogshit.
@@Unlimited-D-Works u prob like scourge or some dumb shit
I never played D1 and this was my first raid ever. I got to ve honest, no matter how many raids i do, i always come back to this one. I was in one of the top 10 fire teams to complete it and it was a blast. I still remember my own clan talking shit about this raid because they were comparing it to D1 raids, but i really liked it. I just hope i am not the only ome.
I liked the raid.
My main problem was having to use double primaries
I remember me and my squad tried to do Prestige mode when it came out and good god the Bathers were brutal.
Brandon Choate garden doesn’t require navy seal coordination I’m sorry
Brandon Choate I will agree with the spire comparison tho, you have a very very short time to get your teams shit together or you’re getting wiped lol
@@schooper. i spent 6 HOURS on that goddamn boss I beat every other encounter in 30 minutes but the boss and the motes flying everywhere glitching through the floor. The boss facing the wrong way during damage phase. It was altogether horrible. But for some reason its my favorite raid.
New to destiny and normally don’t like longer videos, but this was really interesting. Thank you
leviathan is still my favorite raid, i would literally give my kidneys for it to come back
Evan: “man, I’m gonna miss Calus”
Bungie: “patience mr Evan”
Yo Evan, you’re sitting on a gold mine with those Calus voice lines. You should try and do ASMR’s with them.
“Calus reads you the story of Thorn and Last Word on a rainy day”
Calus knowing I’m nervous that Evan is probably gonna rip apart my favorite raid: “MMMMMMM YOURE TENSE”
Oh my god, Sweat looking like a baby during that Prestige run. Granted that was nearly four years ago...
Zachary Hull omg finally someone who actually enjoys the game
Zachary Hull what console do you play on??
It really sucks that I won’t get to ever experience the early raids of destiny. I’ve played since D1 year 1 but never had a group to play with. I just joined a clan so I’m gettin stuff now, but I just wish we still had the option for these older raids
The armor, the shaders and the lore behind about Calus is godlike. At least Bungie took a different approach with raids imo, you cannot delivery Oryx or Riven levels every time.
I love these videos so much. It makes my day when I see a new one posted. I cannot wait for all the others!
The intro alone had me dead
This video is eye-opening to me, who never got to experience it. I only know the leviathan as it currently stands; covered in gross tentacles and Scorn.
12:35 excuse me evan ? A dog on caves in normal mode ? I know you dont do levi often but come on sir.
Calus seems like a cool dude to hang out with ngl
I can tell Evan been waiting to use his Calus voice changer in a video for the longest time.
i started playing in WQ. i wish i would have thought to look a video like this up when i was trying to figure out how to navigate all the challenges for the seasonal activities lol. this makes so much more sense. thanks yt autoplay
I actually liked Leviathan. It was pretty fun and had hilarious moments when you had some not so bright teammates. 🤣
crazy how the void room is really just a mindscape
I mean, its bad. I still like the vibes it gives off though
Chicken Jimmy oh I love it still, just it was set up and doomed from the start, still lots to love
@@evanf1997 you are absolutely correct, however, its fun with friends, and it is basically easy raid and exotic loot
@Jolly Guardian I came late to the party for this raid (just picked up destiny 2 a year ago) but I found it a good fun raid.
All your vids are good and consistent. That's quality
the taken king and april update had more content than most of D2
forsaken was bigger than taken king, don’t even start, and age of triumph was literally just repurposing D1 raids and fixing up some cheeses
I said ‘most’ of D2, I meant like the base game, curse of osiris and warmind all combined,
I don't play Destiny anymore but the one raid i did complete was this one. Definitely some good times with that. Great stuff as always Evan
I always loved watching XQC have his "big brain" moments xD
My first and only raid. Loved every moment of it from the Calous fight to the under belly
Awwwwww The Leviathan Raid.....good times 😎
Too bad they are finally murdering Sins of the Past aka the best legendary RPG
Finally? You mean two years ago? And Curtain Call was the best rocket launcher before Bad Omens. The best RPG is probably still Mountain Top, being the rare rocket propelled grenade.
Why are you calling it an rpg?
This raid after forsakens rework was honestly one of my favorites, I’d love a remake to this in the legends tab in the future
Correction:
Dogs majors are Legionaries, not Centurions. Those monkeys don't fly or use Centurion weapons, but good try.
I loved leviathan raid and it’s prestige mode, I also loved teaching it. I pray it returns
Ok, commenting this before I watch the video. Leviathan is one of the best raids imo and the only things I'm going to miss in Beyond Light
Another good one is the pulse rifle. Outlaw and killclip (name is inaugural address I think). Used it even in forsaken
Supreme Gamer Carr I don’t have the pulse rifle since bungie hates me and wants to give me 20 scout rifles so I can’t speak on that.
Mulliganlounge 69 oh ok. Def would farm (especially now due to unlimited) for it. Really good void (I think it’s void, not sure) pulse
By the by, Evan, there’s another entrance on the right side outside if you stand on four buttons. It’s the opposite side of the Underbelly. Waterfall goes quickly to Baths, Pipes goes quickly to Dogs, Buttons go quickly to Gauntlet.
