One of the things I loved about Thrawn in the original Heir to the Empire novels was that not did he recognize the strengths of his enemies but also the shortcomings and weaknesses of the forces at his own disposal. But unlike other imperials he didn't rant and threaten other people to fix it but rather calmly accepted these factors and planned around them. And I feel like they've captured that vibe pretty well in this scene

It isn't explained, but I'd imagine it's just a series of transfers. Pellaeon was commanding the Harbinger under Savit by a year before Yavin, but it isn't established that he had never met Thrawn before (at least to the best of my memory). As I recall, Thrawn notes that Pellaeon's first loyalty is to the Empire, even over his commanding officer, which at the time was implied to just be Thrawn being brilliant enough to recognize from simply reading Pellaeon in a single interaction, or possibly seeing his service record, but I actually think it would make more sense for Pellaeon to have served under Thrawn, possibly aboard the Chimaera herself, prior to his promotion to Grand Admiral and maybe for a while after, before being transferred to the Harbinger under Savit and eventually being transferred back to Thrawn's fleet after Savit's treason came to light.

Doesn't Thrawn get promoted to admiral later in the canon universe? Here, given his youth and the fact that the clone wars have just ended, his rank should be captain.
If you read thrawn alliances, he enters the imperial service after the clone wars are over, at that time he meets eli vanto as his translator. (Imperials think he is a pantoran with eye condition)

    • @konstantinosnikolakakis8125

I would date this interaction at least around ten years after the Clone Wars given Morgan’s age. So between Thrawn’s promotion to commodore and the Battle of Batonn.

I loved this scene however; there are two problems I have with it. First, Palleon worked for Grand Admiral Savit and didn't join Thrawn's fleet until the time between Thrawn leaving to protect the funding for the Tie-Defender Project vs. "Project Stardust" in season 4 and when he returns in the series finale. Second, Ruhk doesn't work for Thrawn until after he becomes a Grand Admiral. Overall, though, I still loved it despite the continuity errors.

    • @collecter343
