Not really. The reason they turn off the box the way they do is because it's lower impact. They are also kept fit and have a warm up and cool down routine they follow. It's more likely for them to injure themselves doing a spontaneous activity going from 0 to 100, like suddenly zooming around the backyard or taking off after a rabbit than doing an activity they're warmed up for and meticulously trained to do in the safest way possible.
Dogs are taught how to correctly turn on a box, and go on training “chutes” before going onto a proper box. It’s important that dogs aren’t rushed through, as the safety of the dog is 100% priority!
Dog sports are always fun to watch because you can tell they are *so* ecstatic to be doing what they do! It brings so much joy to watch!
