I love the Clarion, my KJV is just perfect of all type settings for that glorious translation. If only I could transfer the thicker/more luxurious goatskin from my NASB version to my KJV version. Not all are made equal!

It has been my experience that Calf Split Cambridge Bibles do lay flat after a brief amount of time, once the binding wears in a bit. Has this been your experience with the Clarion? I own a Goatskin KJV Clarion, but am considering a Calf Split NKJV Clarion as it will not be used quite as much and the lower quality cover is not a big deal in the NKJV for me.

My calf split Clarion still doesn't lay as flat as the goatskin. However, I don't use it on a daily basis, and so don't think I have given it enough time to break in properly.

I have a calf-split Clarion and it lays flat after it wears a bit as you said. The calf-split cover is also more resistant to wear, which is better IMO for a Bible that will be seeing a lot of use.

Have you ever held a Schuyler Bible? I was wondering if you know how they compare, I cant decide on the Bible I want. God bless!

Thanks for your comment Fishers of Men.
Yes, I have held a Schuyler Bible.
I prefer the goatskin of the Clarion to the goatskin of the PSQ. However, overall I find the goatskin PSQ to be more comfortable to hold because of its lighter weight.
Since this review, I also have a calfskin Clarion. Compared to the calfskin PSQ, I prefer the calfskin of the Clarion to the calfskin of the PSQ.
With regards to the full-sized Quentel, I only have that in calfskin. I find the calfskin of the latest 28gsm Quentel to be pretty much the same as the calfskin of the Clarion. The older 36gsm calfskin Quentel is also very nice - it feels a bit rubbery and had a more pronounced grain.
      I hope that helps!
