    One of my favorite Bibles of all time. If I could dream up a version of this that just completely removed the cross references providing some margin space and added the footnotes to the bottom I would never need another Bible again. But it’s still a phenomenal Bible nonetheless. Thanks for another great review Randy!

    Which KJV Bible would you recommend? I'm debating between this one (the clarion), the CBP turquoise reader's edition large print, the Thomas Nelson preaching Bible and the Hendrickson's cowhide that has the same pages as the hallmark. I'm looking for a daily reading Bible that is easy on the eyes (minimal ghosting, larger print), that I can hold in my hands comfortably for reading, has good references, and minimal man added notes/ introductions in the text but I don't mind the translator's footnotes. I would like a concordance and dictionary in the back if possible. Thank you in advance! I know I'm asking for a lot 😅 but I'm trying to find a daily Bible that I plan to use for many years, God willing. Please let me know which of the ones I mentioned would be the best or if you know of another one that would be better. Thank you brother and may God bless you!

      Hi Kimmy. From this list, my favorite for reading is the Clarion. It's the perfect size to hold and the references are easy to find. It has the cleanest text with the least amount of distractions, and it fixes all of the broken sentences because it's a paragraph edition. The only problem might be the font size. It's the smallest on this list. I'm in my 50's and wear bifocals. I have no trouble reading it. For a larger print, I recommend the Treveris but it doesn't have references.

    Is there a difference in paper quality with all versions of the Clarion? Such as the NKJV goatskin vs the NKJV calf skin.

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  3 года назад

      There is a difference with some of them. For example, the KJV calfskin and calfsplit editions use a 27gsm paper, while the goatskin uses a 28gsm French paper. The goatskin shows the paper supplier in the front, but the others do not.
      For the NKJV, my calfskin seems to have the French paper, but it doesn't tell that in the front. Also, Cambridge tends to use what they can get, so there coud be some variation in paper from one batch to another. There's really no way to know.

    • @chirohof
      @chirohof 3 года назад +1

      @@BibleBuyingGuide Thank you for responding. I contacted Evangelical Bible, and there response to me was the paper is the same for the calf skin and goatskin NKJV. It is a 28 gsm paper. They said the ESV and the KJV have a different paper for the goatskin edition. God bless. I always enjoy your reviews.

      That's a tough one. I love both Bibles. It really comes down to single-column vs double-column. Both have their advantages and serve different purposes. The large print Schuyler is easier on aged eyes, but the Clarion is easier to carry. I'm not sure which I'd choose.

    I was on board until the Clarion - Concord comparison. Wow! Despite owning a Clarion(NASB) I have never actually compared the font with my Concords. It’s like supermarket own brand camera film and Kodachrome 64! I next compared with my Cameo (Goatskin) and the smaller 8pt Cameo font still blew the Clarion font away. The Clarion font just seems so ‘wishy washy’ in comparison. Anyhow, it’s ended any desire to add a goatskin KJV Clarion to my KJV collection (good thing really).

      The concord and cameo do not even remotely come close to the readability of the clarion.

      Back then, when I made the comment, it was just before my cataract removal operations and a bold, readable font was essential. I wasn’t able to read the Clarion because the font wasn’t clear enough. Now - post cataracts removal - my vision is so much clearer and the Clarion is now ‘readable’ (it’s still lacklustre though) but the Concord and Cameo still off the page in comparison!

    Is there a paper quality difference between the goatskin and the calfskin?? Some say yes, some say no, and I'm very confused.

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  2 года назад

      It's different for the KJV. The other translations have Indopaque for each of the covers. The KJV and ESV both started with 27gsm that was a lower quality than the 28gsm Indopaque. The ESV upgraded all models, while the KJV only upgraded the goatskin. The calfskin and calfsplit still have the 27gsm. I suspect they'll upgrade those once the 27gsm models are gone, but paragraph KJVs are not that popular so it's taking longer.

      The Cameo is darker, but the Clarion is sharper and has better spacing between the lines and letters. The Cameo's older hot-metal press also misses parts of letters and smears some of the smaller fonts for the references. The Clarion digital fonts never has these issues.

    Is it true that this Bible contains typos? Could someone please verify the following for me?
    An Amazon reviewer said he found these typos:
    "Acts 9:11 reads '...a of Tarsus'. It should be 'a man of Tarsus. Ephesians 1:6 reads "in the beloved." It should be "in the beloved" (no period). 2 Chronicles 28:20 reads 'Tilgath-pilneser'. It should be 'Tilgath-pileser'."

    • @laurent9306
      @laurent9306 4 года назад +1

      Hi Alex L! I saw that amazon reviewer’s comment too, so I was definitely looked forward to the Bible. I just received my KJV Clarion today and here are my findings:
      [Acts 9:11 reads "...a of Tarsus". It should be "a man of Tarsus".] -- the “a” in the text is actually a reference letter to correlate with the reference on the side-column reference, so it is not part of the sentence in the verse. So, not including that reference letter, it’s read as: “Saul, of Tarsus” which is the same as in my KJV Concord bible and The New Cambridge Paragraph Bible (NCPB). Clarion uses small, italicized letters to correlate with the side-column reference.
      [Ephesians 1:6 reads "in the beloved." It should be "in the beloved" (no period).] -- the period does exist in both my Clarion and Concord bibles. But in my The NCPB it has a “:” instead.
      [2 Chronicles 28:20 reads "Tilgath-pilneser". It should be "Tilgath-pileser".]. -- all of the 3 bibles (Clarion, Concord, NCPB) use “Tilgath-pilneser.”
      So with these findings I’m not sure if the amazon reviewer was comparing it with other KJV bibles or the original manuscript. But anyway I hope these help. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    The goatskin must be a second printing and not as they say "First published 2011" (maybe the year is true, but the text is different), because the calf split doesn't have this line about the paper made in France. The calf split has two printing errors. Could you look if the goatskin Clarion still has them? Ephesians 1,7 starts with a little letter "i" instead of "I", and under "witchcraft" on page 1967 I read "srictly" instead of "strictly".

    • @BibleBuyingGuide

      Hi. This is an updated printing. I'll have to check page 1967 this weekend, but it does fix Ep 1:7 and a few others that didn't have a superscript for a cross-reference.
