Yessssssss!!!
Yesss
I enjoy the hoarseness. Have you heard her sing, Begging and Pleading? Good God Almighty...she's anointed!!!
can u do one of lisa fischer man her voice when she sang how can I ease the pain
I'd like to hear a vocal analysis of Minnie Riperton's voice. Love your channel!
Ugh, I love Brandy's voice.
I agree with everything except her voice being "hoarse". Hoarseness is a result of strain on the vocal chords-- Brandy's raspy sound is more likely the combination soft palate lift and tightening to squeeze the sound through the nasal passages. For low notes, she can sound raspy as a result of breathiness. She's like Dorinda Clark Cole or Kim Burrell. Their voices can maintain the raspy sound without fatiguing. Compare that to a young Fantasia and you'll hear the difference. Fantasia's rasp was the result of strain, which is why she had to cancel so many performances. Today, Fantasia doesn't sound as raspy and has fewer vocal issues because the strain is gone.
Can you do KeKe Wyatt pleeease lol thanks
She already did
I think you are super Dope!!!
SPOT. ON.
Holy crap, I just realized how much Kierra sheard was influenced by Brandi.
Sam K umm no
Absolutely. She does so many Brandy runs.
Lol you can hear her tone in Brandy's
Also she said it in a interview and i think when she did a tribute to Brandy
Absolutely Sam! When you listen to tracks like ‘Flaws’ you can hear the similarities all over the place. I wouldn’t be surprised if brandy did the demo for that actually because it’s a Dianne Warren song
I would love for you to analyze Lalah Hathaway's voice!
Fiskgyrl2 Man that would be really complicated. Lalah voice is so fluid and versatile. That lady can do anything, alot of range. But same Id like to hear hers too
Not possible Lalah was sent to us strait from from the Gods 😜
I'm a true Brandy fan but I really like your voice which is very" Jazmine Sullivan ". Perfect for sad gospel. You should post more of your beautiful gift.
I swear Brandy sit between notes and has literally perfected the rasp in her tone to ride against any note. She doesn’t attempt song or notes that are out of her range... she tweaks them and that is how she is able to sing live and sound exactly the same. Im ONE OF HER BIGGEST FANS.
On RUclips there's a clip. They showed a clip of Brandi and Whitney recording "Impossible" from Cinderella and Whitney looked at her and said, "Why you singin' like that! Why you singing down there? Sing up here!" lol queen
Can you do one on Tevin Campbell's voice
she can sing up to *F5* with vibrato and she can get up to *E6* in falsetto
There's just no way in she's a soprano, sorry. Her tessitura sits way too low. Even lyric mezzo is honestly a stretch, but probably the best classification for her. if you want proof, check out her unreleased song "Home" with Timbaland. On the verse she is vocalizing sustained, fully projected lines around C3. Sopranos can't do that. Her voice isn't unrealized, it's fully matured and mastered. She simply doesn't have the top soprano notes you think she has because you're misclassifying her voice.
Brandy’s lows may be audible but they are no where near projected or resonant as her upper range. Her rasp confuses ppl she is a soprano through and through
Analysis some male singers, that would be a nice change!
True! Like Brian McKnight!
@@CreoleKing1986 Stevie Wonder
luther vandross
Can you do an analysis on fantasia, jennifer hudson, & Tamia. Thank you. God bless.
Can you do one on Tori Kelly and some guy vocalists?
Tori is boss!!!!!
faith evans
I thought she was ALTO, my bad... I love the low register, and her rich background harmonies shes a very technical singer and with that kind of singing placement she'll be able to sing those delicious smooths licks (runs) till shes 80. To sum up I loooove B-R-A-N-D-Y shes a teacher ;)
iangneal FYI, there's no such thing as an "ALTO" as an actual vocal fach.
I adore Brandy's voice. It's delicate but so sweet.
She's a soprano
could you do faith
Please do an analysis on Anita Baker , Jennifer Holiday , Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia
I agree with you about Brandy's voice. I have always liked her, but I have paid her more attention after hearing so many other vocal artists defining some runs as a "brandy run". I also have seen so many good artists talk about how much they like her voice, and how they couldn't believe such a young person (at start of her career) had such a developed voice.
Could you do a video on tank and usher and Kelly Roland
Could you maybe do a vocal analysis of Britney Spears? Because I think it's really interesting to see that in her early performances she had a lot of potential, but then when she got famous her technique started to worsen and I wonder why that would be? Of course, if you're going to look at the long run, you're gonna have to focus on studio vocals, mostly, seeing as she usually doesn't sing live...
Well Brandy herself said in a video on the Forever Brandy RUclips while speaking to congress that she's an Alto.
This is another "Mariah Carey called herself an alto" issue. People get confused - including famous singers who don't know real technical terms - alto IS not a vocal fach, it's a voice type in a choral group.
It depends on how you classify voices. Technical classification (what dileesa does) relies on how agile/comfortable/projected your voice is in a specific spectrum of notes. For that reason, both Brandy and Mariah are not altos. They can be really good at their low notes, but their voice projects and is more agile in higher ranges.
Jessica Trentwood thank youuu
I agree with you that Brandy has a raspy or husky sounding voice and of course her voice is not as powerful as Whitney Houston! Generally speaking , the more people sing is the better they get as in Brandy's case. Anyway l am a fan of Brandy's music.
perfect. brandy's the best!!!
Dileesa you are soo damn perfectttt lol you make us "soon 2 be gr8" singers excited to get better... you offer so much different info through each stage of singing that I cannot commend you enough as a young black woman 4 doing so :) I'm actually performing in church 4 the first time this Monday so I'm using you & a couple others here on youtube (mostly u tho) 2 help me out b4 the performance, like w. ur video on "how to prepare for a performace" etc etc.. Anyway I mainly wrote u this to tell you NEVER stop being yourself bc just by being you n posting self-help vids, you are helping a large community of us here on the tube so yaa :)))
Yessssssssss....she's my vocal mentor
We definitely need a update 2020
Brandy’s lower register is next level tho
Have You Heard Beggin & Pleadin
& Do Y’all Remember Brandy Singing in The Bathroom as a Brandy 💫 I must say Brandy’s voice has only exceeded excellence with age because she started out so excellent & so young
can you do a teena Marie vocal analysis?
Vocally Brandy is unmatched . And I agree Broken-hearted sounds like Baby Whitney ❤️ you can hear Whitney all over that.
Can you do one for Aaliyah please?
oh, do an analysis of stephanie mills. :)
Pleaseee do a sevyn streeter vocal analysis
can you do monica
So Brandy is a Full Lyric Soprano, (after reading up, she can't be light lyric because her voice is way too mature to hav the youthful tone, example Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, etc.), but the fact that she's a Full Lyric Soprano is, (excuse my French lol), its pretty fuckin mind blowing, but yet it makes sooo much sense, because for sooo long Ive always thought she was a Lyric Contralto, but putting her against other contralto's her voice doesn't really sound androgynous, (if I spelt it right lol), at all around her lows to the forth octave, so I really really thank you Dileesa, because the way Brandy looked up to Whitney is the way I look up to her, I absolutely love this lady, granted that her voice is flawful, (Just like any singer or vocalist), but her technique isn't and she is just a master vocalist of that "3 octave" instrument of hers, (I put the quotations because ik she has more voice to show lol) but I genuinely thank you for the education and for clearing my mind, Thank You.!!
***** I laughed when she said soprano, girl bye. Brandy has a beautiful lower register.
Ajay Cbaby Patti Labelle is a lyric tenor/ dramatic bass. Dileesa Hunter taught me all the music knowledge I need to know.
***** I would go out nd say dat Brandy might b a coloratura mezzo, because of her warm lower register nd da fact that she does hav a agile high register, and plus even Brandy admits that she likes it better when sings middle wise and not as high in her range
***** I'm glad I finally figured it out lol
I know patti is not a bass, i was being sarcastic....lol
Please do an analysis on Britney Spears or Kandi from Xscape.
Dileesa can you please do one of Lashun Pace?
One of the highest lightest sopranos around
It would be a challenge to do an analysis on her honestly. But I do love the Pace family sound
+Dileesa Hunter lol why would it be a challenge
Because she's mostly belting
+Dileesa Hunter yeah she's a powerful belter
I'm not up on the technical musical terms
I too love the pace sound from super high soprano to contralto they all have very light voices
Yea she is. I wonder if I could find a recording of her singing with head voice of mix.
Absolutely LOVE Brandy.
I'd love for you to do an analysis of entertainers who receive a great deal of criticism about their vocal abilities, people like Janet Jackson or Rihanna, for example.
Great idea!
Could you please do Luther Vandross,Babyface,Tevin Campbell,Jesse Powell,Maxwell,Gerald Levert,Brian McKnight,Joe,Bobby Brown,Bruno Mars,Charlie Puth. I would really appreciate it.
No need to try bc ya ain't gonna get it #vocalbible
Please analyze Patti Labelle
Dileesa im usually with you...but i think some other things should be factored into your analysis, and not just where the recordings of their voice may be sitting. Brandy's weight and color are important...i think that puts her in the Mezzo category for sure. Bc theirs a difference between the following voices that would thus all sing soprano according to how your analyzing....brandy, then clearly monica, beyonce, kelly rowland...keke palmer, ledisi. And i think this is where the classical and traditional/"modern" voice classifications may differ. To me, The soprano section starts with Kelly. Not that the ladies before cant give you soprano notes. I think we have to consider that a great singer can give you many different sounds. I can elaborate, but only if you care to hear that lol.
Keke Wyatt*
Can u do mariah
Can you do a vocal analysis of Jessie J
Please consider doing CeCe Winans
Please do one about Michael Jackson and Madonna, yes I said Madonna lol. I want to hear a comprehensive vocal analysis about both these performers over the lives of their careers. MJ from childhood through the end when he was mostly lip synching, and Madonna from her Mickey Mouse like vocals in the 80s to her vocal development through her training to prepare for Evita.
+MiamiPush2theLimit HI. Michael Jackson and Madonna. but who wants to sing like Madonna?
Dileesa Hunter lol not really how to sing like her, but a vocal analysis of how her singing changed from before Evita to during and post-Evita. Anyway, I understand I am probably in the minority because there aren't many people my age who are Madonna fans anymore. Anyway, I'm a huge MJ fan so I am really interested in a vocal analysis from chilhood to adulthood and a how to sing like MJ video pleeease. ☺
lol.. i just don't think she 'evolved' for Evita.. i think she actually had to sing.. so she needed to learn more breath support, phrasing, control, etc
Dileesa Hunter I agree. I think after Evita she carried that style of singing over to her music and she sounds stiff and it sounds like more of a put-on voice. I actually prefer her singing in songs like Lucky Star and Cherish vs. how she sounds post Evita.
Madonna's not a vocalist. Her skills were in songwriting and using the music video to break new ground with imagery in pop culture.
What voice type is she
Smh Don't say throw up again. But we love Brandy.
@Dileesa Hunter where are you located? (Fingerscrossed)
I def. Wouldn't say she's a soprano
This needs an update her range has extended
Absolutely!
Dominique Jones and it's unreal!
I was just about to say this. 😂😂😂
In the words of the late greatest of all time Whitney to Brandy "why are you down there?"....so no, she has limited range.
@@dinh5532 its extended on the upper end. Also in the last 5 years or so her voice is much more powerful than young Brandy. I first noticed it in "Without you" from two eleven.
Great analysis!
Do you have any analysis on vocalist like Zarcardi Cortez, Jonathan McReynolds, India Arie, Joe, or Kierra Seard. Or Even Yummy Bingam. If not, please take a moment and listen to these artist. I would love to hear your analysis on artist like these.
Thanks!
Rob Burgess Joe as in Joe Thomas "If You Lose Her" is a dramatic tenor.
Please do a Mariah Carey and her changing voice over the years it'd be really interesting!
she's discussed it in other videos
I absolutely love Brandy!!
Wow your analysis was spot on! And you only stuck to facts which is great. Before I watched the video I replied to someone's post on here and I can tell you are a singer because you caught many of the things I just commented about.
It's so true about the Whitney influence especially in the beginning of her career and brandy really creating her own style later on.
Great analysis!
Loved it. Brandy's my girl!!!
Can we get a update?
A soprano? O_O I really don't think Brandy is a soprano lol a mezzo maybe. Her tessitura doesn't seem to be in the soprano range. I thought she was a lyric mezzo.
I wish you could train my voice you know your stuff o.o girl boy do you know what your Talking about.
could you do a voice analysis for chrisette michele - ruclips.net/video/OuZ9_-VfCJQ/видео.html , cecile mclorin salvant - ruclips.net/video/tX4javSA26M/видео.html ? and alice smith - ruclips.net/video/4U1QlOtgfNY/видео.html ?
Dileesa Hunter please do a video for Keke Wyatt Please? thanks in advance
Awesome analysis once again! Can you do a video on Martha Wash's vocal? Always wanted to know what you'd think about her technique/vibrato.
lyric soprano really? i mean she sounds nothing like ariana or tori kelly. i agree her belting isn't great but her signature is her rich lower register.
Tori and Ariana are light lyric sopranos.
lol that was the point. it was said that brandy is a lyric soprano, and he is saying but she sounds nothing like tori or ariana who are lyric sopranos.
Tekena Abere once again, tori and Ariana are LIGHT lyric sopranos. There's a difference between a light lyric soprano and a lyric soprano. Light lyric sopranos have youthful light and bright voices vs lyric sopranos who have a more mature lyric voice in comparison to light lyrics.
ImperfectbutRedeemed ohhhh i get you! Thanks lol!
Tekena Abere getcho life
I agree, even a a small bit of info on how to tackle Anastacia's You'll Never be Alone would be sooo helpful!
I thought she was a lyric mezzo. My bad.
Can you do a voice analysis of Joss Stone? Thanks :))
I need a hundred ways to how to sing like brandy full video 1 hour
Let me know when u start ur hair channel..lol! Oh and yeah, we Love brandy!
what is the vocal fock arrangement?
Can u do a video of Bruno Mars' vocals? I can't figure out how he goes so high when he singing
Nevermind about Kierra. I see that video. Thanks
Im gone laugh because you tried it lol
IMPOSSIBLE! WHY ARE YOU DOWN THERE?
Can you do a india arie voice analysis
I know you prefer RnB singers to pop singer,s but I was wondering could you give even a few tips on how you would sing Anastacia's song ''Youll Never Be Alone'', can only a dramatic voice sing the climax? I'd really like a tips please thansk.
OMG!! Yes! I'd love to know that too :D
Harmonies, vocal timbre, tone?
I don't know how to sing, but sometimes when I hear a singer, it is almost like I hear 2 voices/tones at once, almost like a higher and lower tone at once. For example, when I hear Fantasia sing, it is almost like I hear a higher tone over a lower background tone. is this just in my mind??
What you hear is called "overtones" one good example of this that immediately comes to mind is this high note Janelle Monae hits in her song "Come Alive"
3.05 Was not expecting that... it was amazing!!
Would love an update on this video
Its early but ima watch this video lol
Analyze Mario Barrett please
Can you do a Tori Kelly vocal analysis??
what song was that in the end?
i also dont think shes a soprano. theres nothing soprano her voice. shes clearly a mezzo
No she’s a soprano but her voice is underdeveloped
I love Brandy and you!
ild say brandy is a lyric mezzo-soprano!!!
She's not.
@@thatsoulkidbtj so what is she? A soprano?... if thats the case ild beg to politely differ...
I think she's a dugazon
@@simbaray625 yes she is a soprano. Her lows don't project enough to be a true Mezzo. She's not a Dugazon either. There's nothing hybrid about her voice.
Love this channel
Analyse!!! LOL
Why isn't she a Coloratura?
Because she wasn’t trained
Brandy have ths lows, but sonds airy and weak, so a agree... She is a Soprano.
Sávio Faschet
she can't sing full soprano in a gospel choir or a regular choir so WRONG
I think Brandy's a dugazon mezzo soprano.
Ovan61 she's a lyric soprano. Her voice is way too light to be any sort of mezzo.
Azeryahu Ben-Iramihu But that is one of the qualities of a dugazon mezzosoprano, they voice are lighter than other mezzosoprano, like Kelly Rowland. Dugazon mezzosopranos have light warm voices, they are the mezzo version of the soubrette soprano.
Ovan61 I know what people think that is. It is a rare hybrid and Brandy's voice isn't hybrid. Her voice pops from middle C upwards like any other soprano. People are confused by her vocal fach because she has an extended lower extension and that is only because she learned how to push the air out in a controlled manner down there but as it was pointed out many times, her lower notes do not project.
Kelly Rowland isn't a mezzo either. Beyonce is a mezzo. A coloratura to be exact.
Azeryahu Ben-Iramihu When you refer to her low notes, are you referring to notes lower than G3, because notes lower than G3 is not apart of a natural mezzosoprano range and so those note won't project well, notes beyond a G3 belongs to contralto. That's why opera arias for mezzosoprano aren't composed beyond a G3.
In recitals a mezzosoprano opera singer may go lower than a G3, but not in a opera role.
Can we get a Monica analysis @dilessa
how is her voice small? she has like 4 octaves
Feride Dogan not her range but her voice by itself is small because she is a lyric mezzo (meaning her voice is naturally light-weight/small in size but she still has range)
RyderC Daniels i see now what you mean. yea her voice is pretty light. thx for the explaining
Feride Dogan No problem, plus having a smaller sized voice allows for more vocal agility which Brandy has shown lol
RyderC Daniels yea i love her light voice. she has just the perfect mix of dynamic voice and still light . have all her albums
