Happy Birthday. It's just nice seeing a youtuber actually strip and paint a old car instead of they pull it out of the weeds or trees and get it to run and move then say Patina and shove it back in the trees to finish rotting. I know it's not a popular opinion. I'm a 70's kid were you couldn't even enter a car in a car show if it was rusty and your hot rod was completed when the paint dried. Sorry if I upset anyone, it's not an opinion unless you express it.

Picking an honest and highly skilled body shop would probably take a lot more time and energy than jumping in and doing it yourself! If you follow your heart doors will open for you that are not available to others. It was also a very smart move to pay the price for a very clean and straight project car! You remain the Super Dynamic Duo + The Kid! Congrats!

Might be "Water under the bridge" now, but use a little Baking Soda & water 2 or 3 tablespoons to a gallon of water To Neutralize the remnants of the acid bath. Plain water Won't Neutralize the acid. It doesn't take much baking soda at all to neutralize it. Go back over it Fairly quickly with a damp towel or you'll have a chalky residue of the soda. Get it dried fast or rust will develop. Helps Promote the primer adhesion also. --- Retired from a 26 year Paint Lab stint. Just Sayin' lol -- Happy Belated Birthday

When my sister passed away I inherited her 71 Malibu coupe. I was married at the time so suggested we find another one for her for "his & hers" Malibu's at car shows. The one we found was a roller that someone had put a battery on the trunk shelf that had spilled acid. There was a huge pile of white "stuff" from the acid reacting with the steel. The acid had seeped into all the little cracks in the detail parts welded behind the rear seat and no amount of pressure washing or rinsing with baking soda & water would stop it. The surface tension of the soda water kept it from penetrating into those cracks. A quick check of the design handbook found that ammonia (easily found and low surface tension) would do the trick and it did. Although it is also corrosive, it's not nearly as bad as the acid and 20 years later no problems at all. I've never had a problem with phosphoric acid as long as you get it off any surfaces you want to paint. (Mine did the yellowing too but was never an issue - I always gave it a scuff right before the epoxy and never had an adhesion problem. (Not making recommendations - just sharing my own experience from many years ago!). Looks awesome! Great job everyone! We used to say try to avoid "paralysis by analysis" LOL!

I was paint and body.man for years.
The yellowing after you wipe down with water , is rust starting instantly. Just appears to take awhile to come out.
To keep from happening , all you do is use Lacquer thinner, to do Final wipe down .
    Instead of water....
    The water is the problem.
Try on a small section and you will see the difference when dry .

Evaporust is so handy. And they sell it in 55 gallon barrels. So handy for cleaning out engine blocks. I just hooked up a transfer pump to block adapters a buddy 3d printed, then plugged the transfer pump into a timer switch that flipped it on for 5 minutes every hour and 15 min every 6 hours.
When I scoped the block not a speck of rust.

That's awesome that you're teaching your niece car crafting. Youve got it in primer now you can fix some of the body imperfections without worrying about rust. Happy birthday young lady! Looki g forward to more updates.

We all get to do Birthdays ? 1 Feb 47 so if you add both your ages, we are the same. Great entertaining and informative video. I have done a number of strip reprints and have used neutralizer so the chemical reaction stops and surface rust does not reappear. Happy Birthday Emily !!! This is the kind of rebuild we have been waiting to see. Take your time. Film it all....we want to see. Suggest all new rubber suspension parts while it is apart. This was fun. Thanks for letting us all tag along. Take care and stay safe.

You're dealing with an age-old problem we call "flash rust", what you get after a complete strip without neutralizing the surface after. No worries! You caught it and you're doing fine 👍
Thanks again for all the great content !

Let me give you a super tip: Evapo-Rust works amazingly fast if you constantly pump it onto the park. Think of it like a parts washer. Get one of those 17 gallon round tubs from tractor supply, a couple of fish tank pumps, necessary hoeses, and built a kind of spray booth with it. Drop your part in the tub, enough Evapo-Rust to keep the fish tank pumps submerged, and boom. You can selftap a couple of coat hangers on the side of the tub to act as holders for the spray hose. 15 to 30 minutes, the part will look brand new.

Happy B-day Emily 🎂! I'm 69 years old and if theres one thing that life has taught me is Nothing Is Free.🤔🚜 You go guys! What ratio do you have in Roxy's differential and did you change it after getting back from Drag Week a couple of years ago?

So much amazing progress. You guys have such great motivation. I'm sure there are days where scraping that paint got really old but you kept going and it looks great. Can't wait to see it in final color. Keep on wrenchin'

As someone who is deep in the car hobby but also works in respiratory health, I just want to say thanks for using proper PPE while doing this type of work. So many other RUclipsrs paint, grind, and use all sorts of nasty chemicals without wearing a respirator or even a dust mask. They're all going to develop COPD, and that's one of the least bad things that can happen.

Can watch 57 videos all day long as i just love them. Took me 4 years to do mine and not not having a great deal of money was offset by my free labour. (Lots and lots of it) There are a lot of ways to make things easier but sometimes the only way to be sure is the one that takes the longest. My friends car was thrashed by a sand blaster and it cost him dearly. At the end you will have a beautiful 57 and you will have pride every time you lot at it as you guys did it did it yourselves

Happy belated birthday! I love how you guys teach and work with your niece. I have three grown children and they would not have become the fine adults they are today without the extra guidance of their Aunts and Uncles. You guys are helping to shape a wonderful young woman and should be proud.

You two, or should I say three including the kid, are doing an amazing job. My brother did body work and painting in Tulsa, Oklahoma for 43 years and was one of the best. He restored Mustangs and 55,56 and 57 T Birds For people in car clubs in his spare time. He would have been proud of what you all are doing. Especially with your step by step of your daily posts. Congratulations on a job well done.
