One of my all time favorite actors, and so incredibly diverse in his rolls! And what he all had to overcome ! Blindness in one eye damaged vocal cords, a stutter and a Cockney accent! Who knew?! I always loved his cultured British accent and that gleam in his eye whenever he played a villain. He always gave his characters a sort of all-knowing intelligence and control. Most of his performances were truly outstanding so it seems an outright crime he never received an Oscar. One very unique talent.

Love Claude Rains. That regiment certainly boasted quite a roster, although I understand the actors did not necessarily all serve during the same time period. But still, an amazing group!

The great actor, James Mason, was said to be a huge admirer of Claude Rains. I don't think they ever worked together but imagine seeing them together in the same film or play. They both epitomized such great class and style.

When I see some of the people who receive Oscars it boggles my mind that he never received one. He had one of the most elegant voices ever. He played every part so well. One of the best always.

It's funny he was nominated for Supporting Actor for Mr. Skeffington. What part did he play in that, oh yeah, Mr Skeffington! I know Bette Davis was the star of the movie, but I believe his name was above the title as well.
