There's one thing I didn't quite get out of your review. How high is the level of water in this game, on a scale from 1 to 7.8?
Well Corrin is a water dragon, so yeah 7.8
7.8/10 too much Aqua
+Kevin Zhang aqua's dances with water bending and corrin being a water dragon, make it a ultra duper extra plus 3 & knuckles 7.8/10 with every honor and all
At least Derrick didn't give it a 7/10 for it being "too hard"
+Liam Moore Why? Did IGN do that?
+Kübel350 Gamespot, IGN's review was actually pretty solid
it wasn the fairest of reviews but i get where he was coming from. birthright can spoil you too much but you shouldbt feel like conquest is cheating you out of something either.
IGN's review was the best review I've seen come from them. It was quite impressive!
+NapalmMan10
To be fair. Radiant Dawn had some huge difficulty spikes, which is my main issue with that game. Fates has numerous ways to lower the difficulty though, so complaining about the difficulty is just silly.
I Love You Xplain: For the Review ~
I Hate You Xplain: You have the game... and I don't xD
I want them to do the review for fire emblem fates revelation
+MasterEnex Just another day and a half to go. In the meantime post some music for us to jam to till then lol
+MasterEnex My thoughts exactly
Lol, that's me.
+MasterEnex me too
Only two days left!!! Awesome!!! Oh wait, I live in Europe.
+meowmere I can't bear this for much longer the wait is killing me
when does it drop in Europe?
+xxX_MLG_Pro_2000_Xxx LpHd We still don't know qq
(Holds lighter up in the air while playing a sad song)
Stay strong friends.
+yumeLPbros really? oh man... Im going to buy the American Version, because I cannot wait anymore. The only problem is that I live in Germany
Hmmm, this game actually looks good. I might get it.
Wait. I live in Europe. Never mind.
T_T I feel you, brother.
This is probably NOAS revenge for us getting paper jam early.
I know how you feel! 😭
+PKFun How is that revenge when you guys get all Atlus games when we have to wait between few months to years only to receive it English and digital only and no changes what so ever?
PKFun I'd like to see the EU's revenge for getting Smash, ORAS, Fates, Flipnote Studio 3D, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Scribblenauts Unlimited and Yo-Kai Watch later. In fact, a lot of the titles I listed here don't even have an European release date yet.
Putting aside all the censorship stuff, this is at its heart a good game with improved gameplay. I'm pumped
But alas, since it's a censored product, we'll never really appreciate it to the fullest. Unless we get the Japan version that is...
They said "putting aside censorship" and the first reply is complaining about censorship lol
Yeah the games look fantastic. So glad I managed to get the special edition.
+BoltOfMight well then go and buy the Japanese version, Jesus Christ
+Luke Fennell Real question is: Would you buy a game, in a laanguage you cant understand without subs? On top of that, you're going to be confused with the menus assuming you dont know know where everything is. And even if you looked past that, you also wont know what is going on in the story unless you've beaten the game already, or swung by the wiki to read the plot.
+BoltOfMight as someone with the Japanese version, I can say yes to everything, but also remember that the cost is almost double because you need a Japanese 3DS.
the game is amazing as it is. there's nothing Nintendo could do to ruin the core, however they did cut the fat and some other things that really were just options. We like our options. Added content that can easily be avoided or can only add to the game was thus removed... So at it's core, it is great. But looking at everything, it's a cut piece.
There is Nohr way I'm not buying this game
I'll see myself out
+Brian Wesley ba dum tsh. Had to take the opportunity huh
+Brian Wesley I don't think I'm CHROMfortable with your puns good sir.
I will buy this game because I have the right the birthright to choose this game
Fine. You're choice
Just know you'll be ROBIN yourself of a great experience.
KayJ Gamespell
I'm sorry about being that person, but YOUR not YOU'RE.
Also, you all need to STAHL these puns! CORRIN't you see this will ELISEculate and run out of CHROMtrol.
Review actually begins at 0:56.

So please stop freaking out about localization people listen to the adorable dragon child.
Hear, hear
+But what if Takamui wer not plop Yes, I second this.
Excactly. And personaly, I enjoyed Seizo and Beruka's first apparantly censored support.
They are both dead serious characters. There personality resolves around training and work. Beruka is more or less the seizo of Nohr. They both are lacking with there social skills, which is not a bad thing.
So when the two most serious people of the story went into there first conversation, I excpated nothing else. I even laughed out lout.
I pictured it as them passing each other in a long halway.
Nohr has, what HoshiDON'T.
Illjustseemyselfout
You were on *FIRE* with those puns! XD
I daresay Derrick is on..."Fire"...with this review!
fire emblem itself is on fire lol
Only fate will decide if he gets it
question: if you purchase both upfront (say, one as a dlc) are you then actually given a choice when the time comes? or do you still have to explicitly choose beforehand
I love this game so much. I know many people didn't like the story, but I related to the main character (corrin) even if others saw her as shallow and boring. I've been in the same situations as her where the gravity of abusive people pulls you to do things you don't want to do, and the whole thing about different paths and perspectives is really enlightening. Also love Leo and Kaze lol
Icalivy yeah I’m currently playing birthright it’s not as bad as ppl make it seem
This game is really good. Full of fun characters, beautiful soundtrack. And really fun support conversations.
It pains me to see al the hate. Oké I get it. Some might preffer the other games. But this game is a masterpiece on itself.
And personaly I enjoyed Corrin's personality. I know that people felt it lacking. But the game and the progression wouldn't happen without Corrin's naivity. Corrin was a pure person and had a pure heart. Thats the reason why his siblings trusted him so much. He didn't have a spick of dust on his golden heart. He wanted the best for everyone, even at the cost of himself. And his siblings knew this.
edit:
And about his 'naïvity'. Corrin lived his entire life, before the game as a sheltered kid for crying out loud. He even forgot about his closest childhood friend.
The only people he interacted with were his Nohrian siblings and his rentainers, who were all extremely nice towards him.
That's the world he grew up in.
batdog12100 yeah I agree with u. The game has flaws and it’s story not as polished as something like three houses. But ppl rly overblow how bad it is. Went through Borthright and the story was solid. Going through conquest and the gameplay is very fun
I found the plot of all 3 versions to be suffocatingly bad tbh
@@silverhost9782 I know that opinion is subjective...
but that's just bad opinion. Bad is a term wich is used to frequently and incorrectly.
You might not like the story. That's fine. That's just taste.
But that does not make a story 'bad'.
2 days. *rocks back and forth in corner* 2 days.
+Metalheadforever1101 *(groans of increasing discomfort)*
IM IN EUROPE 😢
2 days until Christmas
+Metalheadforever1101 Benefit of an overworked college student. Days can just fly by.
Same here. I was legit biting my pillow and squirming indefinitely when I went to bed today (it was Wednesday when this was posted).
Question: I just got past the branch of fate, and I now know the branch of fate option in the main menu is opened up if you wana go back and play the other path. The question I ask: Is there a difference between the branch of fate option or starting from a chapter 6 save slot (outside of the chance to change your character's appearance)?
do both versions end the same way? or have different endings? i wanna know if its worth getting both
InB4 Valwin Mediaz does his routine hate comment.
Me too! :D Enjoy this clean comment section while you can, folks. It'll probably be tainted soon.
He's already here.
+Benjamin Eusebi So I'm not the only one who specifically looks for his comments. So unapologetic, I love reading them.
+Benjamin Eusebi yeah Fuck him for ever criticizing nintendo
LURKING SHADOWS wow im totally going to believe you
To all those who plan to get this game despite censorship, I'm not going to lie: you will enjoy it.
I hope you have a wonderful time =)
Pretty sure we knew that, but thank you.
If i buy one of those 2 fire emblem fates in physical form...Will i get a code to get the other route for half price from Nintendo eShop?
+GozetaZero YOOOOO you recommend me to watch this videoooooooooooo
I had a huge concern! if anyone can help me! ^_^
I bought the special edition Fates which includes the 3 paths.
So i started the conquest path in one save file
- once i finish conquest and start birthright should i save on top of my last file?
- should i play birthright and conquest simultaneously in different files?
I'm just confused as to the save file system since many times in Fire emblem once you finish the game you can save on top of the same save file and start again with bonuses.
Thank you for any kind soul who helps me with my concern! ^_^
I can't wait to be a part of the evil side for once, it's going to be so fun!
2. MORE. DAYS!!!! AAAAAAAH!!!! I can't wait! xD I'm so glad I have the Special Edition coming. :)
Hi, would you recommend i purchase Birthright or Conquest? I can likely only afford one of them and want to know which one to buy
+Way to Dawn I think it comes down to if you're familiar with the Fire Emblem games or not. Both versions have the same difficulty options, but Conquest is a bit more difficult since there's less chance to grind for gold and EXP and mission objectives are a bit more complex.
Basically, if you're a veteran to FE and want the challenge, go with Conquest. Otherwise, if you're more new to the series and want it a bit more straightforward, go with Birthright. :)
Conquest offers better gameplay and is harder than birthright, while birthright has a better story. I believe that the digital version is just fates so you can choose your path. (Might cost more though)
I think you should buy birthright. conquest is hard and has no grind. both stories are worth playing. conquest gots camilla but birthright gots grind and makes it enjoyable.
Conquest has better gameplay. While some may say it's hard, it's still enjoyable and provides a decent challenge. Difficulty in Fire Emblem is more of a matter of trial and error, finding out which strategies work and which ones don't.
Also, you recommend both versions of Fates, but will you ever publish (mini) reviews for Birthright and Revelation too?
"I feel as though Corrin is one of the best fire emblem Lords"
What
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
I honestly like corrin/Kamui allot.
BUT I can see why people don't like him.
Grateful Gamer This.
4:46 Charlotte you ok? lol
So it is possible to be on each side regardless of the version and just the pase is different ?
I like how the 3 seperate stories actually combine to create the full story. Conquest and Birthright shed 2 lights on the same situation, which is pretty nice. However, there is still the 'true' path coming. Revelations adresses those plot points that were missed in both versions (Invisible soldiers and such), and really gives you a sense of completion when you find out the story.
+xXFireTheEagleXx ...Too bad you have to pay $80 for the whole thing.
+Buck Wade Well for three separate games, it's not bad. Although I do understand your frustration on not being able to experience the whole story.
I'm still waiting for the Special Edition to be up for pre-order in Europe... :(
For that to happend, we would need a release date first ._.
Sexy Wrys.
I heard this path should be actually the best one because it resembles the older Fire Emblem games the most.
it's hard, yeah. the first siege chapter is elincia's gambit level of hard IMO.
+Nycro Gameplay wise, most likely.
Gameplay yes. Story, Oh hell no. It's god damn terrible.
But I still excited
+Zenith Tempest it's funny, because the map for elincia's gambit is a dlc level in the game
Shinonome Of Hoshido Story terrible? How can it be worse than Awakening
In FE Conquest Invasion 1. Can you capture anyone during Invasion 1 in My Castle? I tried weaking the enemy but it never gives me the option to capture. Thank you.
I have a question; if have other path downloaded can you make the choice?
Yes. As long as you downloaded the other version on your physical copy. (Ex. Buying birthright, then downloading conquest. You'll be able to choose a path.)
This looks so cool! And we only have two days for us in the states!!
Sorry Europe...
"WeEA'Ve gOT TroUbLE!¡!¡"
Is the game audio this muddy normally, or did you change some audio options? I'm not overly bothered by it, as Persona Q did that with certain voice lines too, and I really enjoyed that game, though it does stick out.
Another great review! I already have a CE preordered, but this was very well-done!
The 1 day left hype train:
[ groans of increasing discomfort]
So the official cutscene of the split has better voice acting than the Corrin reveal trailer... I wonder why they didn't just use the official one.
It could be it wasn't finished yet/they had better takes down the line. Look at azura's first English reveal with Lost In Thoughts All Alone. It sounds MUCH better now than it did roughly, I want to say, a few months ago.
Question, can you still use dlc in this version or did they cut that off?
So how do you get the dlc and does it differ if on conquest or birthright
+TakingOutTheTrash DLC is the same on both paths.
my only problem with the game is... the european release is still unknown
Am I the only one who legit enjoyed the story and Corrin? Yes, it's hardly perfect, but I think fans like to overblow the issues regarding Conquest's story. I do understand why people don't like it, but I personally really enjoyed the story overall, and Corrin is my second favorite lord in the entire series.
Anyone else feel the same way?
I'm kinda interested in this game. I never really played fire emblem except for the Awakening demo and idk.
Should I get it? And which version?
+MrGamer9941 If you get it, get Birthright. That's the one designed with series beginners in mind. Awakening would be a good bet too!
Will You Do A Review On Birthright and Revelation? Or Just Conquest?
Inb4 everyone whines about Felicia's voice again.
Weeve gaht trububbllle!
even if felicia ends we still have pokken tournament tutorial girl to go through(does she have a name?)
Felicia sounds nervous and high-strung, as well as unconfident, which I like because it fits her character.
bye Felicia
+Zenith Tempest I agree. I think the complaints are a bit exaggerated. But I'm reserving full judgement until I've actually experienced the game.
so did nintendo remove the mini game that everyone was talking about? i have bever played these games but i want to was the mini game really that important??
*never
The mini game was important to the conquest game beacuse in conquest u were not given any chance to lv up your team but in the mini game since it raises the strength of your allies it makes conquest more easy and not impossible to beat but this so called mini game is back but instead of letting your partner/soldier u just talk
+Mighty Yellow Actually, I heard the minigame isn't all that important because the affinity boosts are only with the avatar, they're rather negligible (one boost with a character is the equivalent of a single battle together) and you can't do the minigame any time you want since it has a cooldown time after some sessions.
MegaWTFgamer oh really? Thanks for clearing that up.
+Mighty Yellow why they cen that mini game ? is it has some kind of sexual things ? i heard that FE fate you can dating with a guy is this truth ?
Great review! So looking forward to getting this one in my hands!
how many different fire emblem fates games are there?
more specifically, how many versions?
+Sega360 Only 2, thankfully, with the Revelations Path downloadable for $20.
does that include tax? also thanks
A European release date wouldn't hurt anybody..
You upload this right after BrawlBRSTMs3's video gets taken down lol
I have a serious question. I have the Special edition fire emblem cart with all 3 games in one. I just beat birthright last night I went to the main menu and the begin from branch of fate was all grayed out WHY IS THAT?
Soooo for Conquest it's DLC or bust for grinding? And when does the game release in the US? I'm hearing February 19 and March 10 :/
Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn are still the best game in the series
In your opinion
+Raffaele Izzo And FE 4. Still haven't played 5 though.
Ash Yeah, the Judgral saga is amazing!
Honestly, Genealogy does the whole marriage/children units thing way better than both Awakening and Fates, IMHO.
Raffaele Izzo Yeah i really hate how they relate it to the story in Awakening and Fates. It just feels so cheap.
Ash Me too, especially in Fates.
The whole 'Baby realm' thing just feels way too forced.
It's pretty obvious that the done it to pander to the Awakening crowd
Fire Emblem Conquest feels like a true successor to my personal favorite entry in the series; Thracia 776. The game is notorious for having difficult missions though most of them are manageable if you prepare accordingly. Plus Conquest offers a unique spin to the plot where you are clearly aiding the true villain in some perspective, rather than being a member of an army of peace-loving two-dimensional heroes. Sorry Lobster Lord, but Birthright is the equivalent to Awakening.
I'd argue Birthright is better than Awakening, better story, new mechanics, balanced pair-up, etc. Although it's not as good as Conquest in terms of gameplay due to Birthright's abundance of Rout or Kill Boss objectives as well as Grinding and poor map design.
I think the idea of aiding the villains in a fire emblem game could be interesting. This; however, isn't. Mainly due to the protagonist and other issues with the story/characters/etc. I will admit that the idea is worth exploring again but it needs to be a "yes we are evil" and not a "we work for the bad guy but we don't want to harm innocents". Aside from that, Conquest will probably be more interesting to play than Birthright.
+SuperPokefan95 FE: Radiant Dawn. For some of the game you play two different sides of the war. Although it is more of a "we work for the bad guy but we don't want to harm innocents" kind of situation. But you do get to use one of the most badass villains of FE history for 3 chapters.
why does the cutscene in the beginning of the video sound different than the corrin smash reveal? Sounds like the actors redid those lines with a different tone I guess.
Just a question, if I take the white version, can I choose the family I want or not ?
No, you'll have to pay for the other route on the eShop
+Ivan Larios Thank you !
YAY ONLY A TWO WEEK WAIT FOR EUROPE!
+Andreas Adekoya For Bravely Second that is.
+Lord Ozzie next week :D
wow your optimistic
+James Bradshaw sorry I wasn't clear on the sarcasm.
they should remake FE4 for the 3ds or the next system and have a MU option for the second generation
I think they should remake FE4 but the avatar in the 1st and second generation. it for more breeding fun (major tordo/Fala blood via picking your blood type and incest I don't care) either way works though.
thats really cool and you can have up too two Holy blood choices only minor to make it so MU is not overpowered
genobeamandflash92 yea that's true.
i would have minor Fala and Hezal blood as a Wind Mage so i can be Mage Fighter
genobeamandflash92 then if you marry Lachisis/Raquesis would that mean you get 3 major Hezul, that be funny.
where and when can i buy fire emblem fates special edition in the UK
Should I buy both or just one of the editions??
I love it so much💗👍
Damnit...i'm so sick of waiting for the european release date! :(
(Groans of increasing discomfort)
+Just a normal dude (groans louder)
does Conquest play the same if you chose either side, or does it become more like birthrite if you choose Byakuya over anya ?
I was waiting for that "loved it" emoticon and text to pop up XD
Im here from the future to issue a warning. The fanboys are incredibly butthurt for dumb reasons and neither side knows how to actually give a good argument.
Most people hate this game because others do so as well.
I peronaly enjoyed this game very much
Woooo Can't wait. Oh wait UK/Europe. rip
if I choose to buy fire emblem fates conquest but choose the Hoshido side instead of the Nohrian side, does that mean it plays out the story of fire emblem fates birthright? Or is it still the Nohrian side story?
+Let's Do This Gaming Unfortunately, you can't do that. If you buy the conquest version, you HAVE to go down the Nohr route after Ch. 6, unless you downloaded the Revelations DLC (the neutral route) and/or Birthright path, which are both 20$ as DLC. In short, you have to pay $80 to experience all 3 routes.
+Buck Wade But what happens if you choose the opposite side? does it do something or not? by the way, thanks for telling me the prices of the games!
+Let's Do This Gaming if you own conquest and choose the other side you will play the birthright story.
I just got into Awakening a few months ago and I'm trying to finish it soon. I've been calling around to any place that sells games near me to see if anyone has the Fates Special Edition because I just want all the games on one cartridge.
goddammit Nintendo!! is there any reason not to have dual audio?
+Álvaro “Toastyman” Brandón The songs. Japanese music companies and singers are super stingy when it comes to copyright. Nintendo would have had to pay them out the butt to have the original Japanese versions of the songs released outside of Japan... or at least that's how I understood it, but don't quote me on that.
Copyright.
+Forklauncher but I don't care about the music, I just want the voices, don't tell me that Nintendo has to pay the voice actors again for the localization
Álvaro Brandón Ask some Nintendo community manager or something, that's what they get payed for.
+Álvaro “Toastyman” Brandón Azura's song was liscenced, and it was part of the voice acting. If they can't use that, they can't use ANY of it
"One of the most interesting lords ever featured in the series"
hahah
Design and gameplay wise yes, but personality wise.....
can you still side with hoshido in fe:conquest?
I got a question. If you buy one version or the other, do you still have to choose a side?
If you only have one game, no.
Because you can only play the path you have.
+The Buddy So you only make the choice in the special edition?
+ShinobiNintendo No,you can buy the other two routes as dlc for half the price, and then you can make the choice.
No petting
0.2/10
It wasn't even that good
+BoltOfMight Thare is petting, my friend, but you can only pet the character that you avatar marries.
+Jonieryk That' feature is different from skinshipping.
Valwin Mediaz What was proven false? It's not exacly skinship but you can still pet your units. It makes more sense than inviting people to touch them. How would that appeal to masses? Just think about it. They would get thrown off. Game could get bad rating for "sexual molesting". It would make less money to the company and make game less popular or popular in a bad way. You never thought about that, did you?
Valwin Mediaz Btw, you are new official face of "Hating with passion"! Hope you are happy with youself Mr. I hate everything.
You are simply disgusting if you were planning on buying the game mostly for that feature.
EU when Nintendo??!
+Nintyfanboy The European Union has existed for quite some time, already. And how would Nintendo have any influence on it?
***** I also see myself everywhere I am.
Wow, I was actually quite worried about the removal of the weapon durability mechanic but the way you describe it sounds pretty well handled. Great review!
I don't know which game to go with.I've never played Fire Emblem, but I kinda want to buy the bundle when it comes, because this game looks great. Is this a good idea?
Reason why fates is the best fire emblem, it gave marth an english voice...
+Platinum2xa code name steam did it first but no one remembers that game lol.
+CEDL0W lol true but this is an official fire emblem so this is canon
+Platinum2xa code name stream was made by the same people that made fire emblem...
Galaxia Knight I know but its not part of the fire emblem main canon, it is a separate IP made by the same people so yeah.
+Platinum2xa Uhh.. is it good?
It's really hard to respect his opinion when he claims that Corrin is one of the most interesting lords in the franchise and that conquest has a compelling story. Quite frankly its almost sad how oblivious and sincere those comments were.
I have a question. I bought Conquest yesterday and it's a lot harder than I had anticipated (I've been stuck on Chapter 10 for hours), and I was wondering if there's anyway to earn experience and gold without having to go through the direct storyline?
If anyone can help me, it would be much appreciated! >.
+A Random Otaku Welcome to classic Fire Emblem, where you don't get to go to another area to grind or get any new resources, but have to deal with what you can get each Chapter. What are you stuck for? What mode are you playing on? I haven't played Fates yet, but am used to limited EX and resources from some of the older titles, so I think I can help you.
Buck Wade I'm actually playing on Classic mode, I either cant figure out where to place my units (and they end up getting killed), or a group of enemies will overpower my units and take the territory I'm supposed to be protecting, resulting in a game over. I half expected this to happen, as I've never played the original Fire Emblem games...
The help would be appreciated, my friend. ^.^
+A Random Otaku Chapter 10 of Conquest on hard classic could be one of the most levels in the SRPG History, so it's pretty normal to be stuck in there.
Do you guys think they should take the same approach with the next game? Or just release one main title? If it's the latter how do you think they should balance the game in terms of gameplay for veterans and Awakening fans (Think Nohr vs Hoshido differences)?
+Ash I think they should only make one full version and make it like Conquest, plus the option of grinding. So you'd have the best of both worlds.
no splitting the story is a terrible idea. destroying a well contained balance story.
One main title. Splitting it was a terrible idea, especially since in the special edition they were able to put Both games, and the Revelations DLC in one cartridge. This just felt plain greedy. For gameplay they should do like awakening and have easy difficulty for newcomers and hardcore for veterans. Then what they could do is add two modes for how game plays. Maybe have one be classic for veterans which plays like the old fire emblem games. Then another for fans of Awakening. I feel that this would satisfy both veterans and newcomers as long as they make each optional, so if a veteran wants the game to play like the past games. Then they can have permadeath, and have the game go chapter to chapter.
I just beat _Shadow Dragon_ over the weekend. I need this game to wipe my memory of how bland that game was.
+Supertron Well that is what it's known for.
***** At first, pretty fun. And then when I realized that there was no support system of any kind, very bare-bones FE mechanics, a really bland story, and no character development aside from a little from Caeda, it began to feel like a chore.
***** Well the problem is that they remade it without really adding anything new. FE: 12 is actually what Shadow Dragon should have been but they didn't release it overseas because of Shadow Dragon's bad sales.
I wasnt too impressed by Shadow Dragon either
Ash It also had the worst final boss of any game I have ever played. Such terrible build up and no payoff whatsoever. I will give it this, though: the music was pretty rad, and at least I actually finished it, unlike _Paper Mario Sticker Star_.
I really disliked the story in Conquest but the maps were fun!
I really enjoyed the story tbh. And I think that it's extremely underrated. Most people just seem to overreact and parrot what others are saying. There might be better FE story's out there. But this one was very enjoyable as well.
I wish GameXplain could cover so much more. I just watched several official reviews for Fates and GameXplain's was more detailed and better than most official news/gaming sites reviews. And the best part? No score for people to complain about. xD
After having beaten birthright and now working on conquest, I was immediately drawn into conquest more because the story felt better and the characters like arthur were much more interesting to me.
Edit
also would like to mention how they changed how pairing up works now in this game from awakening. in fates when you pair up by joining units together the second unit is support that prevents the second attack in a teamup from hurting you, with a meter that builds until it can turn blue where at that point for one turn the support unit prevents all damage from attacks even from teamups.
Another way is what I like to call team up where the units are side by side to each other, in this form the unit one space next to you will provide an attack for help instead of defending you in support. so now you have to choose which method you want, team ups will not prevent damage. Just an interesting change.
You can break enemy unit armor which can reduce their stats in various ways depending on th eclass which is a new addition.
Lastly I would like to point out that there are new seals. heart seals are like secondary seals in awakening when you can change a secondary class to any other secondary, the only difference this time around is that it does not reset your new class to level 1 but carries over the level from the previous class.
Master seals are exactly the same and will reset your level 1.
However there is the addition of friendship seals, offspring seals, and spouse seals. friendship allows one character to change theirs to that of whoever they get an A+ relationship with (which is basically same-sex S ranks), offspring seals allows the child to change his class to a primary one and keep his level, and the spouse seal is like the friendship seal only with S rank.
Yeah the story is memorable.
Memorably bad.
After seeing a lot of hate that this game was getting, I needed to rewatch a video of someone who appreciated this masterpiece.
Oké, I'll admit. This might not be the best FE game storywise or gameplay wise (I don't know, haven't played the other games besides Echoes).
But let us all admit. This game is really good. Full of fun characters, beautiful soundtrack. And really fun support conversations.
It pains me to see al the hate. Oké I get it. Previous games might have better qualities.
Question : conquest, birthright and revelation do i need to buy all 3 games in different cartridges or do i buy one cartridges and get all in one?
+Lora Lite You can download the other two paths and half price i believe.
if i buy one of them?
Lora Lite Yes.
+Lora Lite Only the special edition has all three games on one cartridge. If buying the games seperately Revelations will always be digital and $20 regardless of whether you own one of the other two games. Then you have the choice to buy two cartridges, Birthright and Conquest, at full price or one cartridge and the other digital where the digital is half price.
ok then i will buy special edition
The Hoshido/Nohr cutscene sounds different to the scene in Corrin's Smash trailer...
+GameXplain Is it possible that when (if) you beat the game, you can play again through the other choice(s)? I found out about Fire Emblem through Smash (just like every other Nintendo series) and I'd like to start this series at this entry, and I'd like to play through all choices of the game.
Well if you buy either conquest or birthright you stay on that side but if you buy one version and buy the other on the eshop you can pick which side u can support in the battle. Also if your completely new to the FE series then go with birthright it's much easier.
Oh and if I didn't explain that clearly enough then sorry about that the whole process is confusing to me XD also if u do get a FE game welcome to the series.
+Miller kids1 You have to download the other two options for half price because they are full games. Each one is their own complete story though.
OK, so let me get this straight, when I buy it (it'll be available at stores right? I prefer to buy physical copies if I can) I buy either Birthright or Conquest, then I have to buy the other one on eShop, and then when it is released, I buy the Revelation DLC, and I can play through all 3, and I can't do like a separate save file. But is it like, if I play it on one 2DS (that is what I have) and then on another, it is a separate game? That would be nice, since I have 2 2DSs. Basically, I can't go back and do Conquest (seems like I should do Birthright) after I beat Birthright?
Miller kids1 it needs to be in one handheld not 2
Which one do I get? I didn't know I'd have to make such a difficult decision today.
Should I start with birthrights or awakening?
What if you buy the Conquest one and then get the Birthright as DLC? Will you be able to grind in the Birthright version?
+Adrian Yes, that's the whole point of Birthright. To be more like Awakening meaning more accessible to newcomers and a grind fest to level not only units but supports better.
Also if I recall correctly if you get a physical copy of one of the versions the other one can be bought half price(I don't remember clearly though so don't quote me on that).
+The Doorman (Aroby64) Just looked at the direct where I remember this detail from and yes they did say that. However I don't know if for whatever reason they changed that detail or not sooo be on the look out.
It's finally up! Thanks Derrick! I look forward to picking this up as well. Someday...
One question I have about this game: Birthright is Hoshido and Conquest is Nohr, correct? The ultimate choice at some point in the story, could Birthright players side with Nohr or Conquest players with Hoshido?
I haven't played the game, so I wouldn't know 100%. However if memory serves correct, downloading on the E-Shop would give you a choice in-game even if you bought Conquest or Birthright.
+Subspace King no. Unless captured (which wont give you the actual character), Hoshidans stay with Hoshido and Nohrians stay with Nohr.... and it SUCKS (but it's a good suck)
It is possible to buy birthright, for example, and download conquest later on in birthright, and choose nohr at the branch of fate. Idk it's complicated as hell.
I enjoyed the review. It adressed everything that i needed to know about the game and the reason to buy it or not.
And i felt heart-broken when i learned that the English version wouldn't get the Jappanese audio.
I had so much fun pretending that FE:Awakening was an anime. And now... that feeling is lost :-(
Derrick, will you do a Birthright review? I would love if you did it.
"It's just a good time to be a fire emblem fan"
Darn right! Look at these awesome review scores! I'm so happy Fire Emblem is taking off to new heights :D
If Ive never played a fire emblem game, not even awakening, which version would you recommend for a newcomer to the whole series
WHat about the multiplayer modee? Does it have online?
That's for reviewing this. I think I made the decision to get myself a copy.
