I purchased these from CNV on the 2nd and they arrived on the 5th. For a novice such as myself, I believe that these make great entry level NVG’s at a great price. The only thing I would suggest is purchasing a dove tail mount from Cold Harbor Supply. They machined their dove tails to work better for the Jerry 31’s with a Wilcox mount that I’m running with my setup. The dove tail that comes with these Jerry’s are super tough to get to seat into the mount. Also, I would suggest picking tubs out that are shown from the pictures on the site, rather than hand picked. I emailed CNV customer service inquiring about tube selection, and I explained that I’m a novice and received the same response that’s in this video, that they’re basically brand new so most of them won’t have blemishes or spots. After trying these out over the weekend in a darker, I noticed the left monocular does in fact have a very dark blemish at the lower left hand corner and a less noticeable one about mid left. So do yourself a favor and pick your own tubes and verify there are no blemishes. All in all, great starter NVG’s.

I further clarified by asking what “handpicked” meant, and if that meant you guys picked them by inspecting them, basically inquiring what “handpicked” actually means when selecting tubes. The response I received from Ben was the following: “all the units are so close in spec it really won't make any difference”
@@jons4760 What are you talking? Hand picked means, they contact you and discuss which tubes you want. You want 2000 FOM tubes. But more resolution or more SNR? You selected hand-picked. So i dont get why you didn't told them you dont want ANY spots/blemishes. You had the chance.

bought mine from CNV like a week ago. purchased them on the a Wednesday and they arrived the very next day. also purchased a ops core sf composite helmet and everything arrived together. like a kid on christmas opening the package and was able to run around in them in the woods a very good option if you want some dual tubes and but dont got the cheddah cheddah. CNV customer service is very good for a smaller company with a whole lot demand. very friendly company, in the future will be purchasing some 1431s.
The fact you have a Finance and Maneuver shirt on has automatically made me a follower. Almost have the funds to pull the trigger on them. Yes it's China, but I already have a PVS14 rig. Now I'll have NV for the wife and myself.

What kind of QC do you do on these j31. I know cold harbor supply does the final QC. As well as swaps out the dovetail for a better one. I am very interested in these.
We function test all of them, the dovetail issue has been corrected so there is no need to change it. upon inspection we confirm that the device is collimated and there are no apparent issues with it. if it meets our standards it is eligible for shipment.

@@kevin11288 nothing wrong with wanting to upgrade image intensifiers after a year or two of use. Not to mention if you blem/break an image intensifier then you dont have much of a choice do you? Better to know whether or not you have to wory about finding proprietary image intensifiers or can service them yourself.
Really cool! I think it needs to come down about a G in price to really take off. For that price you’re better off with a PVS 14 with a better tube. Looking forward to more videos on this tho

How good are they in low light conditions no outside help with an illuminator. I’m probably think too much into it. But if it was my money I’d want the better tube in proven housing. But I understand the premise
Man i cant answer that for you. Most people seem to be happy with them. If you have experience with high quality gen 3 nv, then you will probably be disappointed but if you dont I think you will be fine.
If you are wearing these. And someone with actual pvs31s looks at you. Are u glowing like a light bulb? Ive heard these cheaper chinavision devices have to throw out a shitload of ir illumination to get comparable results to usavision
What? I didged my RNVG-VG for the J-31. It's now my main unit. How tf can it be trash? It's on the same level like the real PVS-31. Just the glass is not on the same level. But it's way more than good enough. Especially with all the features.

no. you dont need a constant illuminator for these to work, they use proper ITTs, albeit lower quality.. they're not a digital nv device.
