What do you mean ‘Islam must reign’. Ketuanan Islam is one of the causes of distrust between Muslims and non Muslims. Starting off a relationship by demanding a Ketuanan status is not the right way. If non Muslims refuse to accept that ‘Islam must reign’ what then. Just because Malay youths are an important voter base doesn’t mean that they can demand Ketuanan. If there were Ketuanan pre independence, we would not have achieved independence. All the races in 1957 did not accept religious superiority. If Malays demand Ketuanan because of voter numbers, can Chinese also demand Ketuanan because they pay 90% of the taxes collected by the government.
This narrative of Ketuanan Melayu has been propagated by UMNO 20 odd years ago when they realised that malay voters we not 100 percent behind them so to recapture their votes they started the intensity of racial politics. Today almost every UMNO youth leader is expected to draw the kris and make a hue and cry for them to be as popular as doraemon, including one particular podcaster. More and more forward thinking non-Chinese parents in this country are sending their children to study in Chinese vernacular schools. For us chinese, amongst friends (even very very close friends), we do not discuss these 3 things (religion, politics & money)...these 3 things are consider personal and not reign against one another
given how we struggling with the increasing living cost, chinese dont have the time to care for their religion let alone others. just dont press your belief on others just like you dont like people press their believe on you
love to listen to the findings but just one make sure don't forget about our family in Sabah / Sarawak too. Malaysia is not only Malay , Chinese and Indians.

1. Fort Cornwallis was named after a British general who fought the Americans in the American Revolutionary War for Independence. After the war he was appointed Governor-General of India... and had dealings in Penang.
2. Seberang Prai formerly called Province Wellesly was named after Arthur Wellesly aka the Duke of Wellington, the same one who defeated Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo.
Also to add on...Between 1832-1867 Penang was part of India..

Malaysia remains secular nation.
Religion is about guidance which isn’t mandatory. The rule of law, the basis of the Constitution, is about governance.
The Constitution, Parliament and the court of law - colour blind institutions - can’t get into anything but the rule of law.
Islam was based on the concept of sin. It isn’t law. Syariah isn’t law. It’s based on person’s willingness for accepting it. It would be unconstitutional if syariah was imposed on anyone.
In jurisprudence, God isn’t source in law.
Law must have source for jurisdiction, authority and power. Law exists, and has always existed, based on common sense, universal values, and the principles of natural justice.
Democracy isn’t about sleeping between elections. Democracy only works if people participate. The people, between elections, must form movements on issues and descend on the streets if government closes the door for dialogue and/or the court denies hearing.
The aim of all movements is the same viz. help lock up as many politicians as possible and thereby keep the people from harm.
All politics are about restructuring the distribution of power and restructuring the distribution of resources.
The focus of government should be on enlarging the consumer economy for eradicating poverty. Forty per cent of the people in the money economy and the people outside the money economy are living below the poverty line.

More and more forward thinking non-Chinese parents in this country are sending their children to study in Chinese vernacular schools.
