What great footage, the sights and sounds of these 2 beautiful engines can never be beaten! It's only a matter of time before 29 finishes her overhaul to steam with her sister again.
The railroad had a number of FPA4s operated throughout the 90s. With the trains getting longer more often and the more economical F40s now in service, the FPA4s have been used less often. The 15-car trains regularly used require two F40s (or a steam engine and a F40) whereas they would require four FPA4s to make the same trip.
@@DynamoProductions-trains took me awhile til recently why it as in atsf lettering to learn it was for an appearance in Out Where the West Begins, a four episode documentary series with a Grand Canyon segment
Hello! Im a huge fan of your guys channel. I was wondering if you guys would consider letting me use a clip or two for a compilation I’m making of high speed mikados!
Always loved the GCR honestly One of the best Tourist lines out there Only problem is that I absolutely hate the passenger cars color scheme It looks like a cream sicle
Considering that they saved 4960 from being scrapped, spent two million dollars rebuilding it, and continue operating it at one of the most popular operations in the country, they can make it look how they want.

Glad you enjoyed
My uncle got to ride the double header last year for the 30th anniversary. Shame that 29 is now out of service and will be for the next few years
Cool
Wow I love that Santa Fe inspired livery on 29
i took a visit here in 2018 it was beautiful, #29 holds a special place in my heart.
We like the 29 as well
Awesome shots! Also pretty cool you caught 29 disguised as an ATSF locomotive!
Thanks

Film shoot last summer
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed
When does the Grand Canyon have Freight Train runs? I have always wanted to film photo charters. Great video by the way, new subscription added.
Thanks. All freight charters are operated by third parties and you would have to be in contact with the charter organizer.
Hey i know that place!
This is just beautiful, great captures!
Thanks
Superb video, thank you, much enjoyed throughout. The favourite sequences have to be the double headers. Best wishes, Bob K
Glad you enjoyed
Great video folks, love the shots included. Didn't know that 29 was from Michigan, I wonder why she's lettered for the Santa Fe.
Thanks. It was a film shoot they used 29 for.
@@DynamoProductions-trains Cool.
I know The Grand Canyon Railway had vintage diesels in use at one point what happened to them ?

29s whistle sounds like the one used on white pass and yukon 73
Actually sounds more like the whistle that Cass Heisler 6 wore in 2005
It's a custom 5 chime
Wonderful video :)
Thanks
1:19 when did this happen????
That was last spring.

29 has a nice reading 6 chime!
4960 has a basic atsf 6 Chime
They're both custom whistles made in the shop, based on Santa Fe 5 chime and 6 chime.
@@DynamoProductions-trains oh I didn't know that! Cool!

Did you film all of this yourself, or is some of the footage from others?
This is a collaborative effort. This video was filmed by a friend in Arizona with a camera we loaned him.
Always loved the GCR honestly
One of the best Tourist lines out there
Only problem is that I absolutely hate the passenger cars color scheme

I think that their scheme fit well with the lines of the cars, as well as the colors of the desert
6:04 is that generator car just behind the F40PH locomotive?
That is correct
When was this
This was filmed throughout the 2019 season, with the doubleheader being the last steam run for the year.
Because I when there during July when they where doing double headings
Cool

Is that a Reading 6 chime I’m hearing?
The 29 has a shop-built 5 chime.
@@DynamoProductions-trains you mean it’s the same whistle she came out of the factory with?
No it’s a GCRY-built whistle
Get on the train baby
Can’t 4960 just pull the long train by herself
No
Chennai express
They straight up ruined 4960

Exactly
Looks so much better now
