Hmm. Let's see if I can figure out why those Spirits get those characters. Not sure how on the mark I'll be, but it's worth a shot. *Geese* - a Mii Brawler with a counter, because Predictabo. *Athena* - Palutena, who happens to be based on Athena from the Greek myths. Accompanied by Richter, who I assume is meant to be Kensou, also from Psycho Soldier. *Haohmaru* - Mii Swordfighter, because...swords. *Iori* - Wolf attacks with claws, much like Iori did in KoF13 when he didn't have his flames. A second, faster Wolf pops in after the first KO, presumably meant to echo Orochi Iori from KoF97. *Kyo* - a match against three characters representing KoF's Japan Team: a white DK (Daimon's ground pound), Pikachu (Benimaru's electricity) and Captain Falcon (Kyo's fire punches from KoF96 onward). *Nako* - Zelda as Nako, presumably to point at some of the more mystical aspects of her character? Might be grasping at straws here. Falco's her bird companion Mamahaha for sure. *Ralf and Clark* - Ikari Warriors was a top-down shooter, so of course the guy with military weaponry has to represent them. *Ryo* - Another Mii Brawler, now with Flashing Mach Punch to echo the Zanretsuken, a special move Ryo himself can do in many of his appearances. *Andy* - Fox. Not sure what to see here, but I guess Delfino is chosen to mimic his Fatal Fury 2 stage. *Joe* - Incineroar, a showboating fighter, fought in a tropical stage meant as a nod to Joe's stages in some FF games (RBFFS comes to mind). The 'belt' Incineroar sports may also refer to an intro Joe had against King (a fellow Muay Thai user) in KoF98, I guess. *Kim* - A team battle, much like Kyo, but this time imitating the Korea Team in earlier KoF games: a small Ridley (Choi, budget Freddie Krueger), Dedede (Chang, fellow large weapon user), and finally Ken in a white gi (Kim himself, a kick-oriented fighter).
Just to add on, the Takamaru Mii also has a tornado projectile that mimics Haohmaru's Senpu Retsu Zan, Incineroar uses an Ore Club to reference Joe's Hurricane Upper, and Pikachu tends to spam his Down Smash as a reference to Benimaru's Shinku Katategoma.
I’d assume Tiny Ridley and Dedede were made Choi and Chang because Ridley has more aerial mobility than Wolf or other claw-users, while Dedede’s dash is the most reminiscent of Chang’s jumping belly flop super I don’t know the name of either. >w
For Kyo spirit battle, the references are simple. Pikachu serves as a stand in for Benimaru as both are yellow haired character with electric powers while Donkey Kong represents Goro who is muscular like DK. Finally, Captain Falcon was chosen as Kyo since both are close range combatants who have pyrokinetic powers
I always liked how they have the DLC Legend spirits have unique abilities that no other spirit has. Phantom Thieves has Autograb, Hero's Comrades has Team Power Up, Gruntilda has Poison Power Up, and now Geese Howard gives you the Critical Fast Final Smash Meter. It'll be nice to see what the final DLC Legend spirit gives you once they reveal and release the last DLC fighter. Also I just realized, King Dedede has appeared in every DLC Spirit Board so far, as he is a minion in the Yusuke Kitagawa, the Hero's Comrades, and now the Kim Kaphwan battles, and is Gruntilda in her battle.
Let me get one specific thing to be straight, Geese in 2018 annihilated Heihachi Mishima in his own Dojo, and at the same time, he got incarnated as a Mii in SSBU, now that's when you become a legend
I have an idea for other SNK spirits: -Mai: •Would have you fight against Sheik on KOF stadium with Ne! Playing in the background. Sheik was chosen as both Mai is a nimble ninja like Sheik. Sheik’s kick attacks would have increased attack power. -Rugal Bernstein: • SNK’s most evilest character would be a neutral legendary spirit represented by Ridley since both have killed the family members of their respective enemies. This spirit battle would be designed to be difficult as it is a stamina battle where your defense is lowered while Ridley’s attack power is buffed. To top it off, Ridley’s Final Smash meter would charge up faster. This is a stamina battle, so you can just spam PK fire and get it over right? Wrong, to make it even harder, Ridley would have a franklin badge, forcing the player to rely on close range combat. As for combating Ridley, it would be no slouch as he would be given a very aggressive fighting style where you have to use a character you’re good at. When defeated, he grants a HUGE increase in fist attack power.
Sorry if I’m late but I feel like Mai should be represented by Pyra since both use fire attacks and have a projectile, and Rugal should be represented by Ganondorf
K Dash - Robin Kula Diamond - Zelda Mature - Zero Suit Samus Vice - Bayonetta Yuri Sakazaki - Wii Fit Trainer (Girl) King - Bayonetta Chizuru Kagura - Lucina Leona Heidern - Mii Brawler Yashiro Nanakase - Ganondorf Shermie - Corrin (Girl) Chris - Mii Brawler Chin Genstai - Diddy Kong Blue Mary - Zero Suit Samus

I think that Terry Bogard is one of the three DLC fighters who never appears as puppet fighter in any spirit battle, the other two are being Piranha Plant from the Super Mario series and Sephiroth from the Final Fantasy series
Mock Spirit Battle: Snake as Heidern, Lucina as Leona, and ZSS as Whip. One can set it to Desert Requiem, but I prefer WWIII because I like to blast it at full volume in order to annoy my family. :D
I thought Richard Meyer would've been added as a spirit for being the first ever opponent Terry ever fought, but surprisingly no. If Richard Meyer was a spirit, then this would've been my idea for his spirit battle. Richard Meyer: Snake(White Alt), uses only kick attacks. Well, thing is, Richard Meyer is not necessarily the first opponent you fight in Fatal Fury, because you can choose who you fight first. I usually start with Tung Fu Rue myself.
@@accelriderx2931 I was aware of that, I just think that people pick Richard as the first opponent more than other opponents. Also why is someone NOW replying to my comment? I literally posted this 3 FREAKING MONTHS AGO!
In addition, the spirit and stage cameo rosters seem to emphasize characters who are featured in the King of Fighters series, of Fatal Fury origin or otherwise. The more extraordinary inclusions being Tung, who participates in the King of Fighters only once, and Nakoruru and Haomaru, who’ve been in the vs. series among other crossover projects… Yeah. ^w^
Imagine if Rugal Bernstein got a spirit. If he did, he would probably be the hardest spirit ever, essentially he would make the Pauline spirit look like child’s play. I imagine Rugal being represented by Ridley as both did murder the parents of a main character and possess sadistic personalities. This would be a timed stamina battle with high gravity in place and Ridley gaining significantly increased attack power. This would be fought on Norfair omega form with Hazards off and the theme would be Cutting Edge. To make this spirit hard, Ridley will not only have significantly buffed attack power, but he will also have a Franklin Badge, pretty much meaning the player has to rely on close range combat. Also, your defense gets significantly nerfed. In a nutshell, this spirit would be made as a skill based one in that it tests what skills you have mastered with your character.
I had only just realized 20 years later that Pikachu’s smash attacks are exactly Benimaru’s special moves. XD
