    Dig into the details of a relatively obscure Clone Wars-era gunship - and how well the vehicle translates into an upcoming LEGO Star Wars set.
    The LEGO Group has selected a surprisingly tough-to-find ship as inspiration for LEGO Star Wars 75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship. Harking from the animated series, The Clone Wars, this specific colour and style of gunship is used to transport the Coruscant Guards on their business (as you might guess from the name). However, the vast majority of the time that we see the Coruscant Guards in the show, they are already in place and on guard, rarely travelling in their own specific vehicles.
    Instead, we see them on board private ships of senators or Jedis, or inside or at the entrances of buildings on Coruscant. One of the few exceptions to this, however, is season six, episode seven, ‘Crisis at the Heart’, where Rush Clovis and Padmé Amidala arrive on Scipio on a Republic frigate, escorted by several Coruscant Guard Gunships. Although they remain in the background and we don’t get to see them clearly up close, this is one of the best sightings of this particular style of gunship and there’s enough detail to be able to draw some parallels between the on-screen ships and the newly-revealed brick-built one.

    I don’t ask why it was made, I ask why it wasn’t made sooner. It’s such an underrated paint scheme for the LAAT.

      Tbh i don't think it's that bad of a reasoning. Especially when you look at the Star Wars theme in general, which often has too many boring remakes (falcon, x-wing, Lukes landspeeder,...). So this line of thought actually makes a lot of sense imo

    So happy to hear the designers of our beloved franchise. They get so much hate that is so rare to actually hear them speak. I am so happy that they actually do listen to us and the last couple of years are a proof of that. We wanted clones, we have them. ❤

      @themachine3177 Месяц назад

      but hes just wrong about the access to the interior at least, with the single door its almost impossible to get minifigures into all parts of the main compartment, a double door mod is necessary to fit more than 4 minifigs inside.

    Loved the explanation for the gunship. Fragility for the doors heck even the Modders mods are fragile as heck.
    One thing I wish they can elaborate more is why does figures like Fox have wrong design prints or even Vaughn. I feel like the set itself is talked more in its reason and the figures are never addressed.

    I like how Jens (the designer in the grey shirt) gives credit to the younger designers for this set. I would like to see what other fresh ideas the younger designers come up with. Im not a fan of the smaller size of the Gunship, but I can understand making it easier to swoosh for kids. Im guessing the stud shooters were also incorporated to give kids more of a playful experience. Again, not a fan of these, but it is a children’s toy at the end of the day.

    I was ready to buy a Lego gunship, but I didn’t buy this one because (in order of importance):

    2) No bubble turrets on the wings
    3) No rockets on top
    4) No double doors

    • @laefg
      @laefg 10 месяцев назад +3

      All you said and then \/
      5) Downscaling of the gunship which caused a lot of problems
      6) The really thin line on the fin of commander fox and his wrong colored torso and there's some parts of the torso that should have been red not white and no waist cape)
      7) Blocky also due to downscaling
      8) Helmet holes (Should've done the same thing as clone army customs, Most clone wars fans are old enough to understand how to use clone army custom accessories so lego should've done the same thing)
