agreed !! the best thing we ever did was to buy a bafang 750 watt conversion kit from e bay, first we use to use the peddle assist, as out legs got stronger, we used the peddle assist less and less, for the past 10 months we stopped using the peddle assist and i have peddled over 4,000km !

My 500w Bafang mid-drive conversion on my 29” full suspension MTB was the best thing I could have done. I see the wattage peak at 800 watts at times. Triple bypass surgery required i make some positive lifestyle changes. I live around hills and mountains and a regular bike was too taxing. E-bike pedal assist is fun, not too taxing, building DIY cost 1/3 of new e-bikes, and looks really good.

Bafang bbs02 or BBSHD. Pretty similar motors but the BBSHD can handle more power for quite a bit longer.

Iv got a fat tire ebike too they are good but it claimed 100 mile range you'd be lucky to get 30 at 30mph
That's 100 miles on low pedal assist. Max range will always be with most conservative battery usage
Obviously, air resistance just goes through the roof when you are riding above 20mph and the battery has to work very hard. Every bike range estimation is the manufacturer assuming you're going at like 10mph and also pedalling hard on the lowest power setting which nobody actually does in the real world.
So, if the battery runs out you can still pedal right?

There are tons of ways to protect your bike
Conversions are all death traps. Fitted to bikes not made for those stresses, generally put on very low end bikes with super cheap flimsy components and aluminium frames that fatigue much faster with a kit fitted. Not even mentioning the likelihood of burning your house down.
Converting my e-bike and make it unlimited was the best thing ever. It takes a bit more out of the battery but it is worth it. The biggest smile on my face ever 😊😂😂😂
from personal experience pedal assist barely requires any movement and with a throttle you will never pedal again

Everyone is different bud. Decades from now we will still have people riding traditional non electric bikes. The ying yang exists in everything no matter what there will always be people that prefer non electric bikes.
Bike locks are like kleenex.
Takes a couple seconds to blow through one. My 2 wheel Ferrari was stolen last week seconds after I locked it up. Cars are harder to disappear with.

It fits on nearly any bike but my best suggestion is a hardtail mountain bike as you have plenty of room in the frame to mount a massive battery, and you will need a massive battery if you want to go fast and not pedal unless you're happy with 20 miles of range.

Depends on how you ride it. If you use more throttle than pedal, you will lose battery quicker.

Everyone says EM3EV but it has less range than expected with BBSHD. It's hard to prove since conditions are changing constantly.

i get exercise from mine - i used to hike 2-3 hours every night in the hills of LA ( hollywoodsign ) but then i got COPD ( lungs ) could barely walk / they put me on oxygen- i got a little better by losing weight and stopping cigarettes ( i hiked fine - one day i got up and felt like i was drowning!) i got the ebike and expected results in a few months - felt better the first week ! its crazy - I let my Dr know and he looked at me like i was nuts - if i hiked and had a respiratory attack i’d be stuck - now i push it - rest while using throttle only and really go at it with confidence knowing i can get to help if i needed it

My Bafang 750W motor is 4.5kg and big battery 48V 19.2Ah Hailong is about 5kg. So the conversion kit adds approx 10kg more weight.

You can't push a fat bike with a puncture
The tyre comes off the rim
If you cannot stop before your tyre is deflated you will fall off the bike
They are not safe to own
$700+ for a conversion kit $600 more for the battery , couple hundred more you can get a decent ebike already built.

i mean i KNOW i wont being a car junkie who buys an older model car just to spec out and customize every component. but I know I am a bike mechanic, and it feels good knowing i can fix a bike but that convenience factor is totally awesome.

im not strapped for cash but i also dont wanna blow away money when i already own a bike. but im gonna buy this as my mid life crisis bike. its a bit safer than a motorcycle but I still can go on trails. like up and down a pedestrian levee or bring it on roadtrips to see further off the beaten path. just add a booksack with an extra battery and i got an even wider path to adventure.
