  • Accuracy testing some comically bad budget air rifle pellets and some dodgy knock off jsb heavies against the real thing. A review of some air rifle pellets that claim to be the holy grail..
    i think they are rebranded jsb jumbo, they arent bad, but im pretty sure they aren't the holy grail...
    i will be testing various qys, jsb, fx, Air arms diablo field, bisley magnums and accupells eventually

    Having very recentlyu returned to airgun shooting I generally use the JSB and Hades but bought the Spitfires for general shooting and with the latest i've purchased have had amazing accuracy, the occasional fliers but for about half the price of the JSB I can live with that. Great videos by the way.

    I Ran a test on the old AGF on the Spot On Hawks, Very mixed results but All were what I call Unacceptable
    I tried purely out of curiosity as Identical in appearance to Heavies & supposedly 10.34grn too
    All were only tested at 25m Indoor Range
    Daystate Wolverine R -- A couple of groups around 15-20mm
    AA S400 Superlite -- A couple of groups around 15-25mm
    Zbroia Kozak ---Well I expected reasonable groups from these as seems very good on Heavies --- a Couple of groups of around 50+mm !! Plus did not cycle very well through the magazines & kept jamming up
    Went back to the Usual diets of H&N baracuda Lights & JSB Heavies and put in 2 BR cards of 249 & 250 !!!
    I think weighing & sorting would help a bit as I noticed very large differences in head size & shape, with some having virtually no pronounced ridge around the head
    But in honesty even though they are cheap do you really want to waste hours on sorting, weighing, sizing & lubing
    They may suit some other barrels but would still need a lot of visual inspection to each pellet & then just use for Tin cans & other sizeable targets at short ranges

  • @markhomer5704
    @markhomer5704 Год назад +6

    You'll be VERY surprised how valuable testing these " cheaper " pellets is to the general ( shooting ) public , especially in the current climate where people are tightening there belts so to speak , a cheaper alternative ( if found AND at the right price ) would almost certainly be bulk bought due to the rumours ( and they are rumours ) about an impending lead ban .. the Holy Grail , not TOO bad , and around £3 a tin cheaper then ( say ) the QYS , what would you do ? Plinnking , yes , hunting probably not ... your vid was extremely valuable and entertaining .. loved it

      Hi Mark, that's exactly where this little series is leading. Ultimately I'll end up collating some fairly involved testing of the vast majority of brands and pull them into some categories of price over accuracy. There's some brands at much more affordable price points that will surprise even the top brands.
      It's funny how the unsponsored vids seem to differ with the sponsored ones too eh 😆

I'm a hunter and have always used AA diabolo fields 177 through a sub 12ft s510 and a sub 12ft very first edition s410 using Bisley magnums again in 177.I was wondering if you think the JSB heavy would prove to be superior in either of these set ups?.
    Thanks for a nice honest approach to your videos I was getting a little bored with the more popular biased product pushing channel that most people seem to think is the only one worth watching😉.

      Hi Jeff, I'd be Inclined to stick with the 8.4gn AA fields /jsb exacts if you are getting the performance that you need. The jsb heavies are often a good bet in a lot of the modern carbines but the longer barreled stuff tends to like the mid weight pellets(a bit of an assumption,mind)

  • @UnCoolDad
    @UnCoolDad Год назад +1

    Often the clue as to who made a pellet is in the tin. If it has a screw lid, most likely H&N. Not necessarily the same pellet though as an H&N though. More likely made under contract using a die supplied by the requestor. This is how AA pellets are made by JSB. AA supply the dies, JSB manufacture under contract to AA's specifications.

      @@tillysgunstocks Here in US I got one of the first ones upon release. Of course the cf bottles xb hp 🙄 high power 700mm barrel in 5.5 22 cal. My only complaint is the magazines will not hold 34 gr. pellets but the 25 gr pellets at factory setting outa the box go 1025fps very very accurate out to 100 yards. I used it the other day in a competition with world class RMAC champions on the line with me at 100 yards.. Almost scored 200 in a wind the first time ever I shot past 30 yards. Also popped 10 squirrels in a row with it in about 90 minutes. The trigger is awesome.
      I'm waiting for the Airmaks KRAIT in high-power 700mm. The 2 smaller KRAITS are here at the dealers 400 and 520mm

      I've got to say it's the single most consistent out the box rifle I've ever had. I put up a chrono string on my fb page last week. A dozen shots with a max deviation of 3.8fps! That was unweighed unsorted jsb heavies. It'd potentially tighten up with some pellet prep too. I'm sure it'd do a full fill approx 80 shots (from 250 bar) within 7fps. Thats mental for an untouched factory spec rifle. Doubt my 9015 would do that.well it might but its heavily modified from factory.

Little (or no) quality control, poor design and finish, etc. If they're, say, a fiver a tin less than JSBs, that's a saving of 1p per pellet. So a typical day shooting with them saves £1, maybe a little more. Plus you probably have to deep clean your barrel when you get home. Just not worth it, is it?
