  • Diagnose check charging system warning on dash display. Check 10 amp fuse. Check 325 amp fuse. Check voltage while running at battery and at large red alternator wire. When this system receives a fault at PCM it should switch to default and charge at 13.5 volts. If alternator is bad obviously it won’t do this. Three wire connector at alternator are grey/red (10 amp fuse #93 and should light test light with key on), blue/orange (gen com pcm #13 pin), violet (Genmon pcm # 26 pin). I’ll try to upload wire diagram.

Thank you for posting this! I watched your video and another and was able to swap out an alternator on a 2017 3.5L ecoboost with very few problems!

This was brutal following the Ford directions , which I now know must NOT have been for the turbo model. Going to proceed with your way of taking tensioner out and getting to bottom bolt that way. Ridiculous we’re doing this on less than 5 yr old cars .

Why didn't you record what you did as you did it?

I removed the 2 bolts, the bottom and top one, I removed the sensor, and the ground bolt on the side but it’s still not coming out. How did you do it ? It seems like it’s stuck on the stud on top

There are some bolts the you can’t get at. Make sure it’s your alternator beforehand. Did you unplug it and check for charge. It goes into default charge when unplugged. Also check your fuses.

@@stuemany I thank you for the information, I hope they have done the diagnosis well at the agency, they assure that the alternator is not working, although my truck only has 60,000 km, it seems very strange to me
