This was a really well done repair video. I just did an Ac compressor on mine and after seeing how tightly that alternator is tucked in, was curious how to get it out. Thanks for your hard work and knowledge sharing.

    Thank you for posting this!
I watched your video and another and was able to swap out the alternator on a 2017 3.5L ecoboost with very little problems! All I can say is maybe drop some information on the tools you used. Keep up the good work! I appreciate you!

Man this is a great video! However with the twin turbo explorer there is so much more stuff to get out the way before you get to the alternator. So your video makes it look and sound like a much less time consuming job. When removing the fasteners in the fenderwell I broke just about all the plastic fasteners. Product of living in the rust belt lol. Thanks for the video

A couple tips. Use wd40 or electronic cleaner instead of brake clean on plastic connectors and parts. Brake clean eats and melts away plastic.

What a pain in the butt just to change an alternator! I have an Explorer and if this ever goes out I'll have to order extra blood pressure pills! Lol Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the video. What is the socket size to use for alternator bolts?

  • @robertlam3662

How did you get to the alternator 15mm 2nd screw at the bottom? I watched another vid and they had to take the tensioner off in order to get enough tool clearance to remove it

Is that bottom bolt threaded into the alternator body? I know the passenger side end has a sectioned opening.
Right now that bolt is butting up
Against the tensioner after I loosened it

    • @robertlam3662
      @robertlam3662 2 месяца назад

I Confirmed it is threaded into the alternator body, so you must remove the bolt completely to get the alternator out.
Other videos posted on RUclips said you didn’t have to. DONT BE MISLED. I had to use my ratchet and move the tensioner out the way to remove the alternator screw at the bottom.

What kills me is the 230amp alternator is $670... What in the hell is going on in the car parts market right now!? I'm really getting to where I do NOT like Ford anymore.

It's not the alternator that costs more. It's your money that is worth less.

You confused me in the beginning when you said you had a 3.5 eco boost
    The ecoboost is only turbo
Maybe you said non ecoboost and I misheard it
