The song Orange juice is referring to eating disorders. Like bulimia “you turn oranges to orange juice, enter there then spit it out of you” she’s referring to people who eat and purge :( it’s a very beautiful yet sad song.
Yah she says a lot that can be tied to Ed, like “stuffing up you mouth with tissues” some people ( popular with models) will eat Cotten balls to make themselves feel full, it’s really dangerous and most often leaded to severe issues:( , also the “please say that you won’t continue ordering oranges off the menu” could be an intervention where they are talking to her about the Ed and trying to get her help
"Shoving clementines and orange bacteria Down your throat a dozen times a year, yeah For another 'round of your bulimia" is another quote. The end of the first verse. Kinda in your face.

Yes! and you can also see that her hairstyles "mature" as the grades go up haha I love how not only did she make K-12 a theme but did the grades in order. Show and tell is about the music industry and her fame. She’s talking about how paparazzi and some of her fans treat her like a doll, like she’s just there little toy to play with. Then the parts where it says “if I cut myself I would bleed” “I’m just like you you’re like me and perfect and human are we” lines make a lot of sense
I've seen the line also written as 'imperfect and human are we?' which I love because it feels like it's asking the listener if they see her as an imperfect human and as someone like them rather then just a statement. Almost challenging them. Not so much we *are* imperfect and human but do you see *me* as imperfect and human?
Orange Juice is about Bulimia. Loved your reaction as usual. I do enjoy the storytelling and how cohesive the imagery in the lyrics and videos are. Looking forward to you reaction to the film.
I find that it's really interesting to see your reaction of her music, your opinions, your vision of the melodies and the lyrics. Ok here we go I’m gonna explain each track and give my opinion but the way I love your interpretations of these songs!!! And you will understand these songs better when you watch the movie Wheels on the buss: The wheels on the bus isn’t that deep and it’s kind of up for interpretation but the way I see it since I just started high school last year I is feeling very out of place and also getting bullied for acting different especially for acting kind of younger or at least how I think normal people my age (13-14) but when I went to high school for the first time even girls younger than me all had boyfriends and they were all making out in the courtyard and almost f***king everywhere it made me feel very out of place since all these girls some even younger than me where already sleeping with their boyfriends and I’m still sleeping with stuffed animals I related to crybaby a lot and when you watch the movie I’ll see her on the bus getting bullied. Class fight: You pretty much got the message of class fight two girls in a fight over a boy and crybaby really messed up the girl because she’s reflecting on how her parents messed her up. The principal: So in your little edit cut away clip you did kind of get the message it is about Trump and Just about Society in general she uses the schooling system in the film to kind of talk about society on a smaller scale like the principal is the leader of the school yet he’s a bad leader but they’re all forced to follow him and she did confirm that it was about Trump and it was very political. Show and tell: Yes this song is about the industry and being famous and how she feels like people don’t treat her like a real puppet or a doll purely just there to perform and entertain them Melanie is a very shy person in real life and doesn’t really like being famous for a lots of videos of fans interacting with her and taking photos of her without her consent and she tells them she doesn’t like it and people label her as rude for it when really she just wants to be treated like a normal human being. Nurses office: So did kind of get the message of this one about being bullied in class and faking sick to try and go home which I’m sure we’ve all done before nobody’s really sure about the real meaning but there is a theory that I like. And when you watch the film this theory will make more sense but Melanie is very spiritual person so she believes in more lives in more bodies in the afterlife and reincarnation so since crybaby doesn’t have a great home life and probably doesn’t really want to go home the theory is that she really wants to be dead and move onto the next life because she’s tired of this one... Not to spoil the film but in the film crybaby has a spirit guide who navigate her through lives and spirit guide tells her that she’s had many other lives and many other bodies before this and will continue to have many after and that it’s just temporary so in the nurses office scene in the movie that spirit guide comes indicating that cry babies almost died and that she’s almost going to go for the door to the next life but she decides to not give up and pull through and keep going no matter how exhausted and tired she has of this life. Drama club: I like your interpretation of drama club about how it’s like a person who is overly dramatic and makes everything seem worse even though it isn’t but what Melanie actually wrote the song about is how do you feel like everybody is forced into roles in life and how they have to play into those roles like when you watch the film you’re understand more but since Melanie is a woman she saying to just be a wife and a mother and that’s what she gets casted as a role in the play but she wants to be something else you know like a musician and people say she can’t because she’s a woman. Strawberry shortcake: Yes it’s about how we teach the girls but it’s about what they’re wearing and it’s about what they do that they’re the sluts and they’re the ones asking for it when really we should just be teaching the boys to treat women like actual human beings and respect them. Lunchbox friends: Yep you got the meaning a deeper friendship than just gossip and lunch. Orange juice: The orange is actually about an eating disorder like boulimia i’m not really sure what it’s called but she saying that you eat oranges and then you force yourself to throw them up turning them into orange juice and it’s about body image and stuff like that and how a lot of girls will like eat food and pretend that everything‘s fine and eat their dinner so nobody notices and nobody thinks anything of it but then throws it up later to be skinny...😬 but she saying you don’t have to be that way because you’re perfect the way you are🤗 Teachers pet: Yep you got the meaning of the song student teacher relationship except as you will see in the movie it’s not about crybaby and the teacher it’s about one of crybabies friends and the teacher being in a relationship and her seeing it and commenting on it and trying to help her friend. Detention: So detention is about being overworked and tired and having a lot of pressure put on you like in school but also it is about her in the industry and the pressure on her to make more music especially because she released the album crybaby and it was a big hit and then it took her four years to make her next album K for 12 because she was working super hard on the film and they were such a high demand for music from her. You got the meaning of high school sweethearts💝 And recess it is about being overworked and having to take time for your mental health even though people say if you take a break someone will take your place and that you’ve got to work hard all the time but really you should take a break for your mental health🤗 And yeah that’s my interpretation of k- 12 my favourite album ever so if there’s any spelling mistakes hope you liked it!
I love K-12, it’s more sonically cohesive than Crybaby and I prefer that. Crybaby was such a high bar she set for herself but I think she did really well of following the story but changing the sound so it didn’t sound the same. Show & Tell and Nurse’s Office are my favourites
k-12 is how some schools work in the us it’s basically just saying like kindergarten to 12th grade, in the movie each song represents a grade as she goes to different classes each song. hope this helped!
Drama club refers to social rules for boys and girls that says you should behave a certain way, that’s the script she refuses to follow, basically about sexism and misogyny.
Melanie opened up herself in this album in so many ways... Talking by industry pressure, media pressure, even fans pressure... Even tho, people don't 100% got what she was tryna say, and keeps talking bout her way to sing, her art, and force her to overwork herself just cause they wanna more and more music. I feel so comfortable that u understand the meaning of Recess, make me feel hopeful that u really heard what she was saying
Yeah it definitely resonated with me cos it's something I struggle with a lot! I've started taking like "Monday wellness days" where I try not to use social media and I do exercise and stuff
don't you just feel so complete after listening to this album like it's so fulfilling listening to it,I feel like if I dont have to listen to music for the rest of the day.this might not make sense I don't really care LMAO🤍love you Dan ❤💫🧚♀️
Amazing!! I hope u react to her After School EP after this, that EP is more about melanie’s life and less about the crybaby character which is really interesting!!
You're unlike the other reactors that really overreacts while filming. I love your explanations and reactions, just pure and not cringey. I subscribed!
I fell in love with high school sweetheart the second I saw her outfit from the movie. She looks absolutely gorgeous which matches the vibe of the song. Such a lovely album overall 💕✨
I know I'm so late to this video, but the song about oranges was talking about bulimia. at the beginning when she was talking about sticking something down somebody's throat, they were talking about their finger. doing that to make themselves vomit up what they ate.
I feel like "Class Fight" is her growing from "Pacify Her" and there is a parental influence from "Sippy Cup". I do agree that "Strawberry Shortcake" is like a continuation of "Mrs Potato Head". I feel like that's Part 1 and Part 2 is "Orange Juice" Also feel like "High School Sweethearts" is a continuation of "Mad Hatter" but in a romantic way. FAVORITE: High School Sweethearts
I absolutely loved this video!!! (Album recommendation: ‘The good times and the bad ones’ by Why Don’t We, it’s one of my favourite albums ever, they wrote and produced the entire album themselves!)
@@Luscent your welcome cant wait for you to react to the K-12 videos or movie lol, i know ur gonna love it… you have a new subscriber in me , keep doing you cus ur awesome
the lyric "this one goes to 11, if you cheat you will die" in high school sweethearts is a reference to teachers pet, the 11th song in the album, where the teacher cheats on his wife for the student
Orange Juice is a very clever and subtle metaphor for bulimia and other eating disorders. Also as someone who has struggled with similar things I know that oranges, other citrus and some fruit are also some of the few things people with eating disorders willingly eat because of it’s “healthy and weightless appearance”. However all of those natural acids corrode your teeth and contributes to teeth loss if someone has really bad bulimia. Also if it’s the only thing in your stomach and you force your self to be sick it stings very badly coming up. Like it’s insanely painful and it’s a similar feeling to throwing up orange juice. So although it’s a subtle message people who’ve experienced or know about eating disorders might be able to see the deeper meaning as to why Melanie chose an orange. Love the vid was just listening to cosmic love and no more orange juice. ❤️
Here I go commenting as I watch lol. “K-12” is read K through 12 meaning kindergarten through 12th grade. So with nurses office I do think it could be about leaving school because of people bullying and not wanting to be there but also could be applied to life outside of school as well. Sometimes we are in a situation that is not good and we want to get out of it. And orange juice is about eating disorders and how body image can cause people to create those disorders to have the “perfect” body. Pretty much eat oranges and nothing but spit it out so you don’t get fat
i absolutely love melanies music. she always makes such good comparisons in her songs. like the actual lyrics and production is about something child friendly, but then the actual meaning is something hella deep. it's so interesting.
It's an amazingly cool perspective to take as an artist and so clever that she pulls it off in every song! It's like how in Pixar movies theres always some extra level of understanding for adults you know?
k-12 is the grade levels here in the USA. kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade (elementary school) 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade (middle school) 9th grade, 10th grade, 11th grade, 12th grade (high school) so its like shes growing up in the songs, she starts off in kindergarten and goes all the way to high school where she has a high school sweetheart (thats a song) its titled k-12 but there are 13 songs in the album and recess is the last song/13th song bc recess is like where kids get a break in between classes to just play and you know, be free. each song shes in a different grade. she goes through the stages off a child to a teenager from starting school to getting bullied (nurses office) to having body image issues as she hits puberty, eating disorders (orange juice) to getting shamed for her body at school and getting blamed for boys actions (strawberry shortcake), finding real friends (lunchbox friends) finding her voice and being her own person (drama club) to having a high school sweetheart and in the end, she gets to take a break. like she goes through the different ages from 5 to 18 (bc she starts kindergarten at age 5 and here at age 17/18 you finish high school) btw, in the USA u start school at 4 but that's pre-k (pre-kindergarten, so it doesnt really count, well it counts but like eh)
I feel like these types of reactions explain why visuals are such a big part of Melaine's music... There's a lot of obvious lines that explain the meaning of the song but it's easy to miss them, especially with him (and others) commenting over the song... When you watch the videos the whole picture she paints with the lyrics and instrumentals just falls into place if you know what I mean? Just me?
I love the atmosphere of Recess... it's like you're in a garden in your backyard sitting on a rocking chair enjoying the sun and relaxing.. I feel that way when I close my eyes and I can sleep on that songs because of her beautiful voice
love ur reaction to this album! i entered the crybaby fandom when i saw the movie being talked abt on twitter. and i fell down a rabbit hole watching and listening every piece of her work. she’s a genius! i can’t wait for u to watch the movie! also i subscribed!🤍
Omg thank you for reading my comment!! I come as fast as i can when i got your reply that you’ll be reacting to k-12! Unfortunately it’s 4am when it’s premieres so i will watch this tmr
Meanings (I think) wheels on the bus: ignoring world problems class fight: parents influence the principal: political views show and tell: how fans treat their “idols” and their fave singers / actors and how badly mistreated melanie feels as this song is based of a true story nurses office: bullying and faking illness to go home drama club: how misogyny and females are so stereotyped and misteated strawberry shortcake: women having to look perfect for men and men can’t keep it in their pants etc lunchbox friends: fake friends / suicide pact orange juice: eating disorders detention: forcing children to do things and them having to pretend everything is ok teachers pet: grooming/ pedophilia high school sweethearts: expectations with relationships recess: people only want you for money/ or to mess with you (THESE ARE MY OPINIONS IDK IF ITS CONFIRMED IDK)
Btw, "K-12" is employed in the United States to designate the school curriculum, from kindergarten to highschool (hence the "K" for kindergarten, and "12" for twelve grade). You're welcome :p
Yay! So glad you're doing this! Can't wait for you to watch the movie. Thanks for telling me about the Premiere as well. I'm not sure if it was already explained or if Melanie already explained it but when I listened to Drama club I instantly thought of like social media... How everyone is dramatic and what they do, how they feel and what's happening. How the likely hood of them tweeting about something is higher than them actually doing things "off a stage." Everyone has to "showcase" everything, and Melanie just isn't for it because all the drama is always for the "stage" and nothing is ever real off of it. btw K-12 (K through 12) is Kindergarden through 12th grade (high school)
I would love a reaction to “Be the Cowboy” by Mitski 🤩 if you haven’t listened to her before. Her lyricism is incredible and I think you’d really be able to appreciate her work
I love your melanie videos! There is a lot more you can learn about melanie, she has a movie to this album and she also has a ep called after school, and she you should react to her singles called Copy Cat,Bittersweet Tragedy, Dead to Me, Piggyback, Gingerbread Man and Fire Drill!! She also has a documentary on youtube called Artist Spotlight Stories. She is so amazing and she’s making a new album with a movie and a part 3 to the crybaby and K-12!!!
Love your videos! Also, k-12 means kindergarten through 12th grade! I belive each song represents the different grades because it starts with wheels on the bus, a nursery song and ends with a song about prom!
MEANINGS OF THE SONGS (that I know the meaning of) Wheels on the bus - getting bullied Show And Tell - the pressures of being a celebrity.. Strawberry Shortcake - body images and what you think of your body Lunchbox Friends - friends who don’t care about you much/ fake friends Orange Juice - bulimia and eating disorders, and trying to change how you look.. Detention - pretending everything’s fine when it’s not Teachers Pet - student teacher relationship.. (gosh) High School Sweethearts - finding someone who is right for you, and was written for girls in high school. Recess - Fake friends (I think?)
I don't know if you are aware of the polemics with Melanie, but basically she was not the most loving person with fans about pictures and all this kind of stuff. There were a show where she asked the fans to not to sing over her. People got mad about it, said she didn't care about the fans. Show & Tell is basically to say she is not a product, that art is not made to sell and that she is human like everybody. If i am not mistaken, she even did a post on twitter about it, but I couldn't found to put in here. I remember that even I got a little mad about it, I didn't enjoyed how it went. But seeing now, through a more mature point of view, she was right all the time.
Ok wow I hadn't heard! I can empathize with her struggle though asking people not to sing along is a bit weird I can understand the stress of balancing her art and it being her job too
I don't think she ever told people not to sing along. There was just one time in a concert she was trying to explain the meaning of Mrs Potato Head and the crowd just spoke over her voice. I believe that was extremely overwhelming for her.
It's not that she doesn't like pictures, it's because one time fans saw her and just started taking her pictures, which she didn't like, but she did say that she'd allow pictures with her consent.
I seen one old clip from a performance where she asked fans not to sing along. She normally like when they sing along but I think the venue was small and she explained she couldn't hear through her earpiece. She asked politely too. She wasn't rude at all
I've always thought orange juice was a play on turning lemons into lemonade or making the best of a bad situation. She says your body is imperfectly perfect (it's not a lemon, it's an orange it's sweet) and then when she says no more Orange Juice she is saying your body is not the best of a bad situation, it doesn't need to be improved. Not sure if that's the true intention, that's just how I hear it.
I personally always liked crybaby more then any other album, maybe cuz I related to many of the songs. Maybe cuz I used to religiously listen to them when I was a bit younger, especially cry baby, pity party and dollhouse. Those songs. Hit. So. HARD
You should after reacting to k 12 react to some of her unrealeased songs like: Bombs are falling on Monday morning, 99c store, blue knees/bandaids(same song just ppl call it dif things), strawberry fields forever, a million men, rocking horse and happy meal are some good ones you can just search them up on yt to find them :D
When you react to the movie make sure you stay for the credits because, there is a whole other song that she doesn't have on the album. It is called fire drill 🔥
I think the movie is actually really good for someone who didnt really go to college for film making or directing. It was her first time and it was great so I think you'll like it.
"k-12" refers to the American school system and means "Kindergarten through 12th grade"! And Orange Juice is about Bulimia, she mentions it in the lyrics but it's easy to miss on the first listen tbh
Oranje juice, like other people have said, is about bulimia, she actualy says in the song "fulling those around of your bulimia" so I also recommened checking the lyrics because thers a lot of little things that you might not catch.
I haven’t read all the comments but just in case the meaning of “k-12” is her experience in the school, where she grows up from Kindergarten, to 12th grade ( That’s how it is in America, though I’m not sure about where you are from, you can look it up! ) Keep up the good content I love this so much ❤️

Well written but damn that's heavy - I hope that some of her listeners take some catharsis from it
my favorite line from the song is “I wish i could give you my set of eyes cause I know your eyes ain’t working”

She should have kept Fire Drill on the album. It's the credits song at the end of k12 movie.

Ok here we go I’m gonna explain each track and give my opinion but the way I love your interpretations of these songs!!! And you will understand these songs better when you watch the movie
Wheels on the buss:
The wheels on the bus isn’t that deep and it’s kind of up for interpretation but the way I see it since I just started high school last year I is feeling very out of place and also getting bullied for acting different especially for acting kind of younger or at least how I think normal people my age (13-14) but when I went to high school for the first time even girls younger than me all had boyfriends and they were all making out in the courtyard and almost f***king everywhere it made me feel very out of place since all these girls some even younger than me where already sleeping with their boyfriends and I’m still sleeping with stuffed animals I related to crybaby a lot and when you watch the movie I’ll see her on the bus getting bullied.
Class fight:
You pretty much got the message of class fight two girls in a fight over a boy and crybaby really messed up the girl because she’s reflecting on how her parents messed her up.
The principal:
So in your little edit cut away clip you did kind of get the message it is about Trump and Just about Society in general she uses the schooling system in the film to kind of talk about society on a smaller scale like the principal is the leader of the school yet he’s a bad leader but they’re all forced to follow him and she did confirm that it was about Trump and it was very political.

Yes this song is about the industry and being famous and how she feels like people don’t treat her like a real puppet or a doll purely just there to perform and entertain them Melanie is a very shy person in real life and doesn’t really like being famous for a lots of videos of fans interacting with her and taking photos of her without her consent and she tells them she doesn’t like it and people label her as rude for it when really she just wants to be treated like a normal human being.
Nurses office:
So did kind of get the message of this one about being bullied in class and faking sick to try and go home which I’m sure we’ve all done before nobody’s really sure about the real meaning but there is a theory that I like.
Drama club:
I like your interpretation of drama club about how it’s like a person who is overly dramatic and makes everything seem worse even though it isn’t but what Melanie actually wrote the song about is how do you feel like everybody is forced into roles in life and how they have to play into those roles like when you watch the film you’re understand more but since Melanie is a woman she saying to just be a wife and a mother and that’s what she gets casted as a role in the play but she wants to be something else you know like a musician and people say she can’t because she’s a woman.
Strawberry shortcake:
Yes it’s about how we teach the girls but it’s about what they’re wearing and it’s about what they do that they’re the sluts and they’re the ones asking for it when really we should just be teaching the boys to treat women like actual human beings and respect them.
Lunchbox friends:
Yep you got the meaning a deeper friendship than just gossip and lunch.
Orange juice:
The orange is actually about an eating disorder like boulimia i’m not really sure what it’s called but she saying that you eat oranges and then you force yourself to throw them up turning them into orange juice and it’s about body image and stuff like that and how a lot of girls will like eat food and pretend that everything‘s fine and eat their dinner so nobody notices and nobody thinks anything of it but then throws it up later to be skinny...😬 but she saying you don’t have to be that way because you’re perfect the way you are🤗
Teachers pet:
Yep you got the meaning of the song student teacher relationship except as you will see in the movie it’s not about crybaby and the teacher it’s about one of crybabies friends and the teacher being in a relationship and her seeing it and commenting on it and trying to help her friend.
Detention:
So detention is about being overworked and tired and having a lot of pressure put on you like in school but also it is about her in the industry and the pressure on her to make more music especially because she released the album crybaby and it was a big hit and then it took her four years to make her next album K for 12 because she was working super hard on the film and they were such a high demand for music from her.
You got the meaning of high school sweethearts💝
And recess it is about being overworked and having to take time for your mental health even though people say if you take a break someone will take your place and that you’ve got to work hard all the time but really you should take a break for your mental health🤗
And yeah that’s my interpretation of k- 12 my favourite album ever so if there’s any spelling mistakes hope you liked it!
Also K-12 means All the school years from kindergarten to 12th grade
Thanks for such a detailed comment!! I particularly liked your view on drama club that makes a lot of sense!
Orange juice is actually about boulimia, eaten disorders. K-12 is the representation of society !!! She uses school as a metaphor for the world
I love K-12, it’s more sonically cohesive than Crybaby and I prefer that. Crybaby was such a high bar she set for herself but I think she did really well of following the story but changing the sound so it didn’t sound the same. Show & Tell and Nurse’s Office are my favourites
Yeah I agree with that!!
k-12 is how some schools work in the us it’s basically just saying like kindergarten to 12th grade, in the movie each song represents a grade as she goes to different classes each song. hope this helped!
Ah I see that's really cool!
Oh my God, I love your pfp!
@@katherinelinder2614 thank you!!
@@Luscent did you watch k-12? :D
Drama club refers to social rules for boys and girls that says you should behave a certain way, that’s the script she refuses to follow, basically about sexism and misogyny.
pleased i can't wait to see your reaction to k-12!!!
this album is such an easy listen. very catchy and well written. a few of these songs really get me right in the gut though
Yeah I agree!
i only found you channel recently and i’m in love with your content. i love your vibe. so happy you reacted to k-12
Awesome thank you!
Loved your reaction to the album! So glad you enjoyed it, Melanie is so incredibly talented. Can’t wait to see your reaction to the film!
Thank you I'm excited for the movie!!
Isn’t she just lovely?
Great vid! Excited for you to experience the film! It’s magical.
Me too!!
Aw haha yeah I love the album it gives you a fulfilling journey I think
@@Luscent 💗💗💗💗
Amazing!! I hope u react to her
After School EP after this, that EP is more about melanie’s life and less about the crybaby character which is really interesting!!
yeah i defo will though I'll be doing the k-12 movie first!
Love the thumbnails as always
You're unlike the other reactors that really overreacts while filming. I love your explanations and reactions, just pure and not cringey. I subscribed!
Thank you!!!
its's so cute to see you trying get every word in the songs
Yes come through. All of the songs are really really good.
I fell in love with high school sweetheart the second I saw her outfit from the movie. She looks absolutely gorgeous which matches the vibe of the song. Such a lovely album overall 💕✨
That's cool I'm excited to watch the movie!
the 6 dislikes are from people who are possesed by the princepal
the young, sweet, and growing vibe of this album is what makes me love it so much
Highschool Sweethearts is genuinely one of my Favorite songs of ALL TIME it’s a lyrical masterpiece 😭🙏
Yeahhh it's a beaut!!
Cant wait, its my favorite album eveeee
I know I'm so late to this video, but the song about oranges was talking about bulimia. at the beginning when she was talking about sticking something down somebody's throat, they were talking about their finger. doing that to make themselves vomit up what they ate.
I feel like "Class Fight" is her growing from "Pacify Her" and there is a parental influence from "Sippy Cup".
I do agree that "Strawberry Shortcake" is like a continuation of "Mrs Potato Head". I feel like that's Part 1 and Part 2 is "Orange Juice"
Also feel like "High School Sweethearts" is a continuation of "Mad Hatter" but in a romantic way.
FAVORITE: High School Sweethearts
same highschool sweetheart win
Yeah it's really interesting how you can follow the storyline and character development throughout both albums!
I think high school sweethearts is a continuation of Gingerbread man
Yess!!! I've been waiting for this!!! :D
I absolutely loved this video!!!
(Album recommendation: ‘The good times and the bad ones’ by Why Don’t We, it’s one of my favourite albums ever, they wrote and produced the entire album themselves!)
Aw thanks and cool thanks for the recommendation!
YESSS I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE EEK, THANK YOU
Jusy found your channel and fell in love with ur personality… love ur reaction to Melanie i love her ,
Aw thank you!!
Ah interesting!
It’s also referring to pacify her which is eleventh in crybaby, when the guy cheats with her and she doesn’t want it to happen again.
Thank you for sharing wow I didn't realize that metaphor was so deep and relevant! I hope people listening found comfort in the song ♥️♥️
Came back for another Melanie Martinez album video!! I'll check out ur other videos later ;D
K-12 stands for Kindergarten through 12th grade. I'm really liking your reactions. I still prefer the Crybaby album tho
I love this album so much. So many messages
Yeah me too!
Loved your reaction and will be waiting for you to react on After School ep. The lyrics are amazing in it.
I'm excited about that one!!
I love your reactions you are amazing person🥺💖
i absolutely love melanies music. she always makes such good comparisons in her songs. like the actual lyrics and production is about something child friendly, but then the actual meaning is something hella deep. it's so interesting.
Amazing that's so cool!!! I love real concept album and it's so cool that it follows all the stages of growing up
Ame definitivamente todo el vídeo! no pude evitar suscribirme, espero más reacciones a Melanie Martinez!
OMG YOU NEED TO REACT TO THE MOVIE ASAP I CANT WAITTTT
love ur reaction to this album! i entered the crybaby fandom when i saw the movie being talked abt on twitter. and i fell down a rabbit hole watching and listening every piece of her work. she’s a genius! i can’t wait for u to watch the movie! also i subscribed!🤍
Omg ive been waiting for this vid im definitely gonna watch it today lol
Omg thank you for reading my comment!! I come as fast as i can when i got your reply that you’ll be reacting to k-12! Unfortunately it’s 4am when it’s premieres so i will watch this tmr
Omg i love your reactions!
Thank youuuu
principal was actually her take on talking about politics and how she doesn’t like the president (at the the time) trump
Meanings (I think)
wheels on the bus: ignoring world problems
class fight: parents influence
the principal: political views
show and tell: how fans treat their “idols” and their fave singers / actors and how badly mistreated melanie feels as this song is based of a true story
nurses office: bullying and faking illness to go home
drama club: how misogyny and females are so stereotyped and misteated
strawberry shortcake: women having to look perfect for men and men can’t keep it in their pants etc
lunchbox friends: fake friends / suicide pact
orange juice: eating disorders
detention: forcing children to do things and them having to pretend everything is ok
teachers pet: grooming/ pedophilia
high school sweethearts: expectations with relationships
recess: people only want you for money/ or to mess with you
(THESE ARE MY OPINIONS IDK IF ITS CONFIRMED IDK)
can't wait for you to react to after school ep. it has the school theme like k-12, but it'd much more personal and experimental
I'm excited to hear it!!
Btw, "K-12" is employed in the United States to designate the school curriculum, from kindergarten to highschool (hence the "K" for kindergarten, and "12" for twelve grade).
You're welcome :p
riiiiight thanks haha
each album and EP is a bop (to me), you get a little bit of everything from her. 🤷 🤠
Yeah I agree!
I love this album but the After School EP is next level!! I’m sure you will love it too 🖤
Omg!! I can’t wait!!
finally u did the reaction of this album, ty, i loved the video
Aw I'm glad!!
How the likely hood of them tweeting about something is higher than them actually doing things "off a stage." Everyone has to "showcase" everything, and Melanie just isn't for it because all the drama is always for the "stage" and nothing is ever real off of it.
btw K-12 (K through 12) is Kindergarden through 12th grade (high school)
she also has an EP as the sequel to this album it's called "afterschool"
Cool I'll have to react to that after I do the movie!
it’s not a sequel, those songs are completely separate from the story. it’s more personal to Melanie
Luscent you are such a vibe 💖keep up the amazing work much love to you💙✨
OMG YESSS PPL ARE NOTICING MELANIE!
I would love a reaction to “Be the Cowboy” by Mitski 🤩 if you haven’t listened to her before. Her lyricism is incredible and I think you’d really be able to appreciate her work
I think I'm gonna add her to the vote for next month so keep an eye out!
You should 100% react to fire drill and the after school ep after this!!!
i love your reactions :(
Aw thanks and me too!!
Orange juice is about and ED/body image, you basically got it right!:)
Favorite song:recess
Cant wait for the movie reaction!! Pls do after school album after (not rushing or forcing) gonna subscibe:)
I'll probs do the movie next month then After School the month after I think
I love your melanie videos! There is a lot more you can learn about melanie, she has a movie to this album and she also has a ep called after school, and she you should react to her singles called Copy Cat,Bittersweet Tragedy, Dead to Me, Piggyback, Gingerbread Man and Fire Drill!! She also has a documentary on youtube called Artist Spotlight Stories. She is so amazing and she’s making a new album with a movie and a part 3 to the crybaby and K-12!!!
thats so cool ill have to check all those out!!
When is the k12 video reaction coming im so excited
Love your videos! Also, k-12 means kindergarten through 12th grade! I belive each song represents the different grades because it starts with wheels on the bus, a nursery song and ends with a song about prom!
MEANINGS OF THE SONGS (that I know the meaning of)
Wheels on the bus - getting bullied
Show And Tell - the pressures of being a celebrity..
Strawberry Shortcake - body images and what you think of your body
Lunchbox Friends - friends who don’t care about you much/ fake friends
Orange Juice - bulimia and eating disorders, and trying to change how you look..
Detention - pretending everything’s fine when it’s not
Teachers Pet - student teacher relationship.. (gosh)
High School Sweethearts - finding someone who is right for you, and was written for girls in high school.
Recess - Fake friends (I think?)
Reacts to her recent album "After School"
Your reaction to the songs were so cute, I loved this video
She wasn't rude at all
@@huyhoao4942 She actually did for one show. She was nice about it though. She explained before the show that she couldn't hear through her earpiece
While watching the film if you wait in the credits you'll hear a other one of of her songs that wasn't released at the time.
Oh cool!
Cool!!
When you react to the movie make sure you stay for the credits because, there is a whole other song that she doesn't have on the album. It is called fire drill 🔥
i really enjoyed this :-)
I think the movie is actually really good for someone who didnt really go to college for film making or directing. It was her first time and it was great so I think you'll like it.
i love this album so much
"k-12" refers to the American school system and means "Kindergarten through 12th grade"! And Orange Juice is about Bulimia, she mentions it in the lyrics but it's easy to miss on the first listen tbh
The principal is about the 46th president but she definitely played it off in the movie
Oh riiiight
Oranje juice, like other people have said, is about bulimia, she actualy says in the song "fulling those around of your bulimia" so I also recommened checking the lyrics because thers a lot of little things that you might not catch.
Yeah good Idea
cant wait for your movie react!
yass king liked before even watching.
🥰🥰
I haven’t read all the comments but just in case the meaning of “k-12” is her experience in the school, where she grows up from Kindergarten, to 12th grade ( That’s how it is in America, though I’m not sure about where you are from, you can look it up! ) Keep up the good content I love this so much ❤️
