@@saywhatnow24 I know I joined in the K-12 era and I do understand why the old fans don't like Portals but people do change as well as artist along with their music so when she announced Portals I was over the moon that it was something different. Don't get me, I still do love Crybaby and K-12, but Portals just blew me away. My fav song from it is Tunnel Vision because it was a bit nostalgic and also something that fits this album perfectly. If you were to tell me it was a deluxe track from K-12 or something without listening to Portals I'd believe it. Anyway like I said people do change and if the people around them who liked the old you don't like the new you, they clearly don't know how to adapt to change. Change is scary sometimes but you just have to learn to embrace it and look forward for what there is instore for the future.
Seeing so many different people of different generations, backgrounds, genders and aesthetics react to Melanie and realising the beauty and symbolisms she presents in her songs is so amazing to watch. She truly is an incredible phenomenon of an artist 💗

Melanie is like the king of unreleased songs unfortunately. I get that as an artist she has certain standards for her music, or sometimes they get leaked so she scraps them, but man those “unofficial” songs are a goldmine. I can’t imagine how much worthy material she lets collect dust knowing what a great lyricist she is. She just so creative! I appreciate Mel because she is really great at crafting a narrative and sticking to an aesthetic. I’m obsessed with Womb, not necessarily because it’s my fav song-wise (although it sounds great) but I just think the concept of the song is so interested and well-crafted. The album gets wrapped up in this perfect little bow with this fairy finally being reborn as an actual infant and we get to hear the experience from the baby’s perspective. I love the line of her talking to her future brother in the cosmos and stuff. I’m agnostic so idk really what I believe but it’s a pretty common belief that babies/kids are more spiritually connected and that’s why young kids are known to say weird shit about how they died and what their past life was like. I just love that concept being explored in a song. In fact I love the whole album for the themes of reincarnation. Plus like I said they’re all just easy on the ears and she sounds like an angel. First of all I love the MOON CYCLE Melanie used to say taboo song. About something that many people deal with but no one talks about in music. I wanted to write a lighthearted but poignant song about women going through their periods. How blood represents vitality the chorus uses a resting analogy to treat like sweet raspberries and pomegranates are scary, how my aura makes you howl during the sun CYCLE MOON or do you expect me to get. Pregnant that night and then the loud menstrual cramps are overwritten on your phone. With the conflicting like of patriarchal society and. MEN consider it a common disease for women men punch each other see blood but do not find it Disgusting but, when they see menstruation they consider it Disgusting 😫 🙏 🔥
The layers of meaning in this album are incredible. I will never not be blown away by her ability to maintain allegories within songs while maintaining a plot-like thread throughout an entire album. This album though especially is so important and special to my little healing grieving ex-people-pleasing witchy ass ❤️ Void, Moon Cycle, Evil, and Womb all make me tear up. Glad to see the albums getting the recognition it deserves ❤️
