- Dr. Rowe shows how to get quick TMJ pain relief at home, using NO EQUIPMENT.
Temporomandibular joint (commonly known as the TMJ) disorder is the result of excessive strain on the jaw joints and the muscles that control chewing, swallowing, and speech.
This can lead to extreme pain, headaches, difficultly chewing, and locking or clicking of the jaw.
We're going to focus on fixing TMJ pain by lengthening and strengthening the jaw muscles. To make it easy, well break this video up into two sperate parts.
In the first part, we'll go over specific muscle releases for instant relief (even within 30 seconds). The second part will focus on strengthening exercises for long-lasting relief. Make sure to go through both parts to get the best results.
Watch now and quickly fix TMJ pain at home!

Can i get chiropractic course sir
I asked about a video on TMD a few weeks back, and you indicated you didn’t have one; thanks so much for now creating a great one!
Maybe you've done this, but I haven't found it. I'd like to see some methods or exercises to help ease painful rotator cuffs. My right one is killin' me! 😫
Great video ,love the exercises
I will certainly be waiting your next video please 🙏. It’s surely helpful to a lot of people who are struggling with TMJ. I’m so glad that you had shared your very helpful video. Thank you 🙏 and God bless
I’m a dental hygienist & this is the most thorough video on TMJ pain I’ve ever seen!! I will be telling patients about this! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing!
@@DrRowe NO, THANK YOU!!!

I was in severe pain for an hour, and I thought of going on RUclips and stumbled upon this video. These exercises provided significant relief within just 2 minutes. Highly recommended!
The first massage is absolute gold. Immediate pain relief. Thank you!!
Thank you! My TMJ is so bad sometimes I don’t want to live anymore when the pain is too much , this helps 🙏🏻
Glad it's helping you!
Same.
@@DrRoweI don't feel any pain but my jaw cracks so badly while I open my mouth or while eating. Is there any cure for this?
I don’t know what caused mine😞
u sure you don't have trigeminal neuralgia?
That lateral pyteroid release worked so well, had pain for the entire day but this relieved it pretty damn quick. Appreciate it
Thanks for watching!
I am not gonna lie to you: I've been suffering from this for decades and my doctors never caught it. I thought i was having chronic sinus infections/problems my entire military career. The doctors always told me it wasn't my sinuses but also couldn't figure out what my problem was. I went for a supposed sinus problem a month ago and a civilian doctor told me it's not my sinuses it was my jaw muscles spasming. He prescribed muscle relaxants and i was averse to taking them at first but it helped. I looked up what could be doing this to me and found this video and the first five minutes did more for me than a month of doctor's appointments. Thank you.
Same here 😭😭 I legit thought I was dying of a brain tumor. Legit just tmj
Aw. So sorry to hear. I have diziness from chewing. And I found this vid.
Have been there. Military docs are limited at times.
Did u take off your wisdom teeth?
I have TMJ and I can’t begin to describe how much this helped me.
I sometimes get flare ups from an old blunt force injury; I can usually manage with the typical home care measures but this time around was a different story. I had been in so much pain to the point I couldn’t chew, had difficulty speaking - which was impacting my job performance- and when the joint would slip I felt nauseous from the electric pain. My jaw felt like it was close to locking at times because it would stick. I was seriously considering calling my pcp because I haven’t had an episode like this in a while.
Within 5 minutes I got so much relief, it went from a 8/10 pain to a 4/10. I’m still going to follow up with my pcp but the level of relief was so incredible. I can now open my jaw wider and can feel my muscles relax. I feel relaxed enough that I can finally sleep.
I know it’s long winded but I truly can’t thank you enough.
It’s so nice to see I’m not alone in this painful endeavor! These exercises helped right away. 🙏
Glad the exercises helped!
Very painful
You are not alone i'm experiencing it with lockjaw after going to the stupid dentist the pain is out of this world so i understand this therapist is very good hey
Dr. Rowe, I cant tell you how much I appreciate your Tmj videos. I have been doing them for a couple weeks every morning. They have given tremendous relief. Thank you so much for making these videos… they have really helped.
Thank you, Dr. Rowe! No other video can beat yours in quality and clarity. Thanks again!
I have been through these exercises twice. Such a difference! I was feeling so much pain and now almost back to normal. Thank you!
Great to hear that!
Are you fine?
Those first couple massages are absolute gold. They feel incredible. I've been focusing a lot on massaging my neck near my jaw because I realized the connection between neck pain and jaw pain, but I never found a good way to massage the jaw muscles directly before. I've broken several teeth through excessive clenching....all chronic tension needs attention, but jaws are strong and when they get tense they can cause a significant amount of self-injury. This has to be my favorite video of his yet for how useful it is
Glad you found the video, and I hope the exercises help you for a long time to come!
I have chronic migraines and was stuck in bed with a migraine when u found this video and it gave me so much relief!!!
Glad you're getting relief!
I recently had a wisdom tooth extracted, and was left with a painful jaw radiating to my teeth. I tried exercises from other videos but yours is the only one that has provided relief! I have hope now that I will make a full recovery, thank you.
Are you okkay then?
I have had this kind of pain for almost two years and have been told
by specialists in both Australia and Scotland that they could not find anything wrong. I have followed your instructions to massage accordingly and felt instant relief. Thank you very much!
My TMJ flared up last night and back to RUclips videos again, this is gold!!! Thank you. Already feeling better
This guy is a godsend. I've stumbled upon his channel because I've had other random physical pain stuff happening to me and every time he has the answers to help. Thank you
Glad you found the channel!
This video is sooo helpful. Posted it on the Reddit tmj group and it is getting some love. Thanks for making such a comprehensive and well paced video
Thank yo Dr Rowe. I have been in a lot of pain from clenching and stress and this is the most comprehensive help I’ve seen. 🙏
Just found you on youtube (since we dropped Comcast) and have been watching all your videos!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! I have suffered from horrible TMJ pain for at least 30 years, off and on. I have had several night guards that I end up taking out in the middle of the night because they annoy me and disturb my already poor sleep. This year, the pain I experience is now radiating in my right eyebrow and behind my eye. I run my finger from the inner side of my nose up and across my eyebrow to get relief, but that's not enough. I think this is related to the TMJ, however I did have shingles in my eye 15 yrs ago and treated it promptly. I began thinking that my tri-geminal nerve was now creating this pain, but after doing these massages for TMJ this morning, it appears to be all connected. I'm optimistic that these massages are my lifesaver. I was ready to make an appointment at a neurologist for my eye headache; this video has given me so much relief I am amazed and so appreciative. You are so easy to listen to and apply your techniques. Keep more coming!
Love your style, love your info, but most of all love how patient, thorough, and well paced the exercises are. Thank you so much 😅
Thanks so much for watching!
❤🎉thank you so much. The internal mouth trigger point release was amazing, relieved a years worth of pain and frustration. Dentist and doctors couldn’t help with this. Watching your awesome clear demonstration was the answer to my prayers and helped me to release that muscle. So appreciate your explanation, patience and pace. A million thanks.
yeah the internal one worked for me too
but now it feels like burning
Ive been going to a physical therapist for 3 months now for neck pain... this past month ive been telling him my jaw hurts bad and hes shown no care to acknowledge ive even said anytgi.g about it... come to find out, my neck is perfectly fine but its actually been my jaw this whole time. Ive been tossed around to different doctors with absolutely no help. About to.go see.a dentist next week but so far, this video has been THE BEST info anyone has given me these past few months of pain. Thank you! You are the real MVP
I did these terrifically described exercises for TMJ. They helped me so much!! I love that you are concise and to the point. When your are in pain you need help fast. So thank you!
Just great how you combined TMJ and neck and spine routines. Thanx, this one is a pearl !!

Am beyond grateful for this video. Suffered all week with severe pain unable to sleep or eat. Your video helped alleviate my pain. Thank you so very much.
What a great video! I'll be going back to this one as a refresher every time someone comes in complaining of TMJ. And the exercise at the end of the video is one I'll use for clients in general as a great core/posture/neck strengthening exercise. Thanks so much!
Thank you for this video! So simple to follow and feel relief after such a long time!
Thx to Dr.Rowe. The exercises were explained a VERY simple, Easy to follow steps.
Thanks for watching!
This video is so amazing-Within the 3rd move I began feeling immediate relief! Your videos are so helpful I’m truly grateful for you, thank you!
I have been dealing with one sided neck, jaw and head pain for so long. It got worse after having my wisdom teeth extracted in January 2023. Thank you so much for this informative video. It released so much of my pain I feel like I’m about to cry. I hope you keep posting more videos like these 🙏🏼
Omg. Your comment is seen just in time. I’ve had my wisdom tooth extracted exactly 7 days ago and I am been now experiencing a severe case of teeth grinding and jaw pain with added work anxiety. How did you get rid of the pain?
@@mytravls my pain just got worse the past two/three weeks even after that comment. The stretches in this video help reduce it but I also went to my first physio appt recently so hopefully that helps more. I am getting my jaw and teeth checked out again next month from my oral surgeon and they are aware from the pain I’ve been experiencing. Hopefully they have a solution but I also am waiting for my family doctor to come back from vacation. I also grind my teeth at night as well. My retainer night guard isn’t helping anymore.
@@pseehra1 I’m so sorry for what you are going through. Hope you feel better. Could it be work anxiety that may be causing the issue?
@@mytravls thanks for your concern! I hope you feel better as well! No work anxiety as my work is pretty chill. I’ve always had migraines for the past 5-6 years but I know for a fact that getting my teeth extracted made it worse. On top of that, they had to pull out an extra tooth beside my wisdom tooth because somehow the crown broke off… this resulted in having an extra 1 hr long oral surgery which I know strained my jaw even more. I was awake during the whole thing so I could tell how strained it was gonna be. Work doesn’t help as well cause it’s a desk job and I’m looking down at documents for a long time too. There’s a bunch of other things but it will be too long of a comment 😂!
Thanks for these, been a TMJ sufferer for probably 30 years too. Not fun. I had to learn how to consciously always keep my jaw relaxed (while awake atleast), that helps. And I actually already figured out 3 of the exercises on my own....when you deal every day with it, you experiment with things that relieve tension(atleast I did. Thanks for all your help!
Thanks for watching!
This video has helped me so much! I have been having jaw pain which has radiated to the teeth. I have been to the dentist for an X-ray on roots and adj on teeth with no relief. I have been in pain for weeks. The neck stretches have given me such relief quickly! Thank you so much for explaining this so well and putting these videos out.
This was so useful and easy to understand. I’ve been in so much pain. Thank you!

Thanks! Very helpful tips for loosening up jaw muscles. Just what I was looking for.
Doing the exercises in this video for 5 days and I can tell if I keep up with them it’s going to make a huge difference. Making sure I focus on the quality of the stretches as well as going deeper and making sure I am breathing is also really helpful. Thank you so much for this video!
I grit my teeth 24/7 my jaw was disaline in the wreck 2009, my chiropractor adjusted it my de said good job, but it's really tight even down the side of the neck is so tight , my shoulder and right upper arm. I think all I've seen on it videos will help all my areas acquired from that wreck years ago.. Thank u for these great videos Doc😘
Hope these exercises help you!
I was just laying here in pain for 5 hours and ready to go to the ER. I went searching for any type of relief. After doing these exercises my mouth feels amazing and I have been in pain for 3 weeks. Thank you
Yeah, these exercises helped. I was going to go to the ER as well. I was in severe pain until I discovered this video.
Did it cure it?
Dr. Rowe, you are someone whose advice I have come to really trust and I thank you. I was glad when you said that the neck could be the villain of my TMJ, because my neck has been a real banana lately. I gave your video a "like" and it will be my companion for the next several days until my body lets go of the TMJ. Again, many thanks for the exercises and for being me some hope.
I have been going through pain on my left side temple , left inner ear , left head and left jaw since a year. I have done 3 Brain MRI , PNS CT SCAN , TMJ SCAN , TOOTH SCAN , seen various dentist , TMJ Dr , ENT specialist Maxillofacial Dr , Chiropractor, Accupressure and trust me what not but nothing helped me from getting relief from the intense pain I have been going through 1 year disrupting my life completely... However seeing this video I 100 % feel that this pain is all related through my jaw going till my side temple , head and inner ear.. I'm very thankful to you for this video and I will start the excercise today itself to get rid of this pain.
Same problem, i have pain on my temple region ,then that pain radiates to my whole head like head ache i don't it was of tmj ,i can't concentrate my work ,no idea about how to overcome this

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this video! My tmj has been so painful lately and I also have a toothache( I need a root canal) and Motrin wasn’t helping. I did all the exercises you showed and it helped quite a bit, still hurts some but not nearly as much. Thanks so much!!!👍🏼👍🏼
Can't thank you enough for these exercises. Thanks a lot Doctor Rowe.

I am so thankful that you took the time to share all this. Daily headaches, tinnitus, dizziness, trips to the neurologist, MRIs and other tests... health anxiety had taken over my life. A dental hygienist noticed my clenched jaw muscles and said it could be TMJ (no doubt exacerbated by anxiety). These exercises provided some instant relief! Adding this to my daily routine!
I'm so tired of the dizziness and tinnitus. I'm thinking about going to the upper cervical chiropractor(NUCCA), I've tried everything else.

I think you saved my life with this video.
Just started doing these today. I am hoping over time this will help my TMJ. I find this video the best one I've seen. Very good demonstration of the exercises. Thank you very much Dr. Rowe.
Hope the exercises help!
This helped so much! I have TMJ leftover from wisdom teeth removal, so I get days where simply closing my mouth just feels wrong and unnatural. It'll feel misaligned. The pressure from basic up-and-down motions of chewing will be agony on my teeth on these days. If I press my index fingers on either side of my jaw by my ears, I can feel both sides wiggling asymmetrically as my mouth opens. Draw a quick squiggly line on a paper and that's what's happening. It can be incredibly painful. My left side is definitely worse; I can feel it in my neck and it wraps around my collarbone.
I remember my dad giving me a carpenter's bear hug so tight he actually popped my jaw. Felt great. For about 5 minutes. He basically shifted my jaw, and thus the pain to the other side.
Following your movements as you went just brought literally instantaneous relief. The last one was very unpleasant, but I can't argue with the results!
Perfect video. Amazing. Thanks
Thanks so much! Excellent instruction!
Thanks so much for watching!
Very well explained. I shall be trying the exercises🙏

Hope the exercises help, and please give us an update soon.
