Tchitchouan Inouane motorstorm could still happen both officially and unofficially. Would love Codemasters to let that team off the leash with the ego engine to see what they can do. It would be basically Fuel but with motorstorm quality
Donny Spofford not at all. The guys behind motorstorm were bought by Codemasters. And Sony still owns that franchise anyways. Still very much possible for another motorstorm game either officially or spiritually. Couldn't say anything about midnight club though.
JDMSG Well For ( Motorstorm ) ( Evolution Studios ) Closed Down & For ( Midnight Club ) ( Rockstar San Diego ) Said That They Have Absolutely No Plans To Continue The Series. So A Return Of Either Of Them Is Highly Unlikely, But Not Impossible.
This is what a review should be. Not "Oh im going to give it 2 points off because I didn't like this customized hat they had" or "This games amazing but I dont like the lighting- 6/10" and not bullshit either where the review gets a perfect 10 just because it has some super popular title attached to it and you're afraid of the backlash for not calling it a perfect game. A good, whole hearted review with legit criticism leading to a score that make sense. If anyone else did this review they would of given this game a 7.5/10 just cause they didn't like the customization options. Great review, More of this guy.
Dirt 4 takes you through a few intro races before you get into the 6 event Rally championship. The team management and vehicle menus are a little more complex and now include contracts with sponsors. The menu complexity and extra relationships make it feel like the races in Dirt 4 are only 70% there as opposed to Dirt Rally where they feel more like a 90% presence. If you're new to the series, the menu navigation might be a little unclear, where the shallower depth of the menus and simplicity of Dirt Rally keeps the focus more on cars to buy, championships to join and the focus on placing well so that you can participate in the more advanced tournaments. Dirt 4 allows you to just set the difficulty rather than be forced to work up to it, which is probably better for vets. The tracks can have cruel little jogs in them before the next announced turn in Dirt 4, where Dirt Rally was a more consistent there with fewer surprises. The lowest skill level in DiRT 4 is a fair bit easier than the lowest skill level in DiRT Rally (I'm regularly getting 1st in DiRT 4 when I still doubt I can even get 2nd on the lowest skill level in DiRT Rally). Those are my impressions after spending a few hours with Dirt 4 and after having played a number of hours in Dirt Rally. My main takeaway so far is how the deeper menus take away a little from the racing experience, but the racing and vehicle handling are solid.
Great review. I'm 1 day into playing Dirt 4 (sim mode) after 700+ hours in Dirt Rally. I'm really liking it. The cars feel a bit different to DR and there seem to be a lot of people complaining about RWD handling in particular being 'too tame', but I suggest they're not pushing hard enough because they will let go and drift when you go faster. In the early career mode though, which is all I've got to so far, it's too easy to win every stage without really trying, so there's less incentive to find the limits. I'm sure it'll get harder as I move up in my career. In general I like the handling - the cars feel like they actually weigh something and they're a bit less predictable. My only gripe so far is that, like DR, there is no 'hot seat' or offline multiplayer mode. This is a big disappointment because it surely would be an easy thing to add, and then friends and family can come and try the game without messing up my progress. Goodness only knows why they decided not to add this really obvious feature.
I don't own a driving wheel controller yet I've always been a fan of rally games. Bought dirt rally but was slightly alienated by its purist style as opposed to what I was used to with Dirt 2 or the likes. Gonna have to wait till this goes on sale and I might grab a wheel with it. Great review, let this dude do more. He's enthusiastic about games and it shows.
There are a lot of hate in steam arguing that the simulation level is below Dirt Rally, that's stupid. it's Dirt 4, the previous games were arcade, and this one has an arcade mode and a simulation mode to increase difficulty, wait for Dirt Rally 2 to get a superb simulation game. Dirt 4 is a great evolution for the main Dirt arcade series.
ummmm you are completely forgetting the origins of this game. Colin McRae Rally, Colin McRae Rally 2.0, Colin McRae Rally 3, Colin McRae Rally 2005... Then Dirt 1, 2, 3.... so it doesn't line-up in series unlike Gran Turismo.
"Three, two, one, go." *stands up from computer* *walks away* *does morning workout* *takes a shower* *washes dishes* *gets dressed* *goes to car* *purchases groceries* *fills up car with gas* *washes car* *goes home* *puts groceries away* *takes a shower* *changes clothes* *sits at computer* *DiRT car finally takes off*
this in my view feels like the rally game i have been missing this feels better than dirt rally the cars actually respond when i press the brake and does not just slide 3 miles before stopping so i am enjoying it 🙂
I wish there was an option to turn tuning off on multiplayer in all these racing games, so that everyone is on a level playing field. More often than not the winner is the guy who has the best car setup, not the one who has driven better.
They need to improve the weather and dirt effects similar to driveclub where water and snow literally accumulates and moves around on your windshield and moves according to the physics.
I play a lot of car game and watch tons of videos on youtube and I have no idea how any video on dirt 4 wasnt recommended to me. I just learned it existed... Thanks youtube.
I want those fun multiplayer modes from DiRT 3 back tho (Outbreak, Transporter and Cat 'n' Mouse) with some modern Gymkhana cars and tracks (yes I know people didnt like them in DiRT 3 but its only for Multiplayer and they could make it a DLC or something)
Dirt rally is for experienced rally players who know what they're doing Dirt 4 is for inexperienced rally players who don't know what they're doing I'm a Dirt 4 guy.
Codemasters seem to have delivered once again! Though for some reason every single video I've seen of DiRT 4 makes the graphics look terrible compared to DiRT Rally. Are all the clips from console versions?
I've been wanting this Rally game for what seems like forever. It looked like Gran Turisno was about to crack the stage generator but beyond happy hat Codemasters has done a proper one. Competing with players around the world with everybody on equal ground with stages nobody has run before? That right there is enough to keep me playing this game well over a decade. Hopefully it's mod friendly on Pc, which if it is RBR is about to be as dead as the man himself.
Dave The Flash21 is it better than dirt rally 2 ? debating between which of the 2 to buy. i played dirt rally 1 since it came out and also enjoyed dirt 3 back in the day so not really sure !
I am 2 trophies away from platinum, and whilst this game is amazing in many ways, career mode can get a little too repetitive. I felt a little disappointed with the historic rally cross, they could have had diff environment instead of making you do the exact same things you were doing in rally. The trick-cup is another thing. Finishing the rally part of it will take you over 1 hour each event, but then rally cross and land rush will take you a couple of hours and an hour to complete.
Very good review. Luke Reilly knows what he's doing, especially when it comes to this genre. Codemasters have always made great games in my opinion. They are one of very few developers who I trust and have not disappointed over the years.
i have a question fot you: the damage system is better then dirt rally or is equal...for may opinion, the damage car in dirt 4 is better than dirt rally...
How's the difficulty compared to Dirt 3? (I've played on advanced except for opponent difficulty which is 6) Should I get this or Dirt Rally? And how lively is multiplayer on each
whooooo hoooo. yipppppppy this review gets me excited! glad I got the pre order...might even be downstairs today for me??? I am very hopefull for VR!!!!
i am not happy. had CMR 04 & 05' and then dirt 2 & dirt 3. hate the fact you have to complete landrush events during career to advance. why not have a career for each discipline? but i must say graphics and sound holy smokes it's awesome.
Don’t forget that if you crash You actually have your vehicle destroyed so it’s harder and more fun. Something The crew 2 got me bored of in minutes. There’s no effort in racing on the crew 2.
just let this guy review all the games
Hah! I was just thinking that, he's so enthusiastic and honest. No nitpicky garbage.
Micheal Muñoz does he review non racing games ?
Chances are he just did the Voice-over. You can catch the author of the reviews name at the start of the video usually.
Cody Clark that's not the case this time.
First guy in IGN who I like.
Other than Alanah of course.
Guy sounds like the Australian barn find guy from forza horizon 3
lol, true.
Holy
Lol
Lil Penny 1/2 Warren?
They're called Australian's and they're human beings (technically)
Now all we need is Motorstorm and midnight club.
Tchitchouan Inouane motorstorm could still happen both officially and unofficially. Would love Codemasters to let that team off the leash with the ego engine to see what they can do. It would be basically Fuel but with motorstorm quality
Mon*Star It's never going to happen, the companies behind Motorstorm & Midnight Club are both out of business.

plus Burnout and Split second 2
I've got a jar of dirrt! Ive got a jar of diiiirt!
Jack sparrow ?
Eeeenough......
Godspeed, nice one.
Help Will Forte Reach 100 subscribers I literally just finished watching Dead Man Chest with the kids!!
....AND GUESS WHAT'S INSIDE IT! :D
I like this guy, he gives some real love and passion for racing games that so many people just write-off.
Dirt 4: 9.2
Forza Horizon 3: 9.0
TheCenturion01 he gave Forza Horizon 3 a 9.5 what are you on about
TheCenturion01 and he gave Forza Horizon 4 a 9.6
Who wrote off Forza Horizon 3?
Forza Horizon 3: 10
Love the nod to AC/DC songs in the video \m/
I'd rather everyone have stiff necks so no nodding can be done
I agree with these other people. I really liked the reviewer.
This is what a review should be. 1:29 Dean Ambrose?
Al Pacino W 😂😂
Al Pacino this a WWE joke?

Dude chill
Just wow! Can't wait to play it.
Same! Loved Dirt Rally!
Nice to hear a reviewer that doesn't sound half dead
That guy man, he's perfect! He's actually got a personality! And he genuinely loves this type of game, you can tell.
Nice one

Gamer mode might be the reason I get this. tend to find simulation driving too difficult for the amount of time im willing to play/invest.
JFn Cho I suppose you never liked DiRT rally then?
David Kittrell no i hated it
JFn Cho i enjoyed the Sim driving of Dirt Rally but it got old. i play on Gamer mode cuz i actually wanna enjoy game instead of raging
I'm
trust me dirt sim mode is awesome and not that had but feels lovely since it makes you feel you are fighting the road. try it and comment back bud.
The Codemasters nailed it with DiRT 4, there's so much content and that's what I enjoy about it. Definitely a step in the right direction.
This reviewer is amazing. We need more of this guy :D
Yh, still hate how the game feels though lmao
We need this guy for all reviews, he is very enthusiastic
*Anyone remember Micro Maniacs?*
Made by Codemasters.
Such an amazing game that should have a sequel.
Forza 4 ,Gran Turismo 4, Dirt 4.....why is the fourth game in racing simcades most of the times the best one?
igna_mike Well in my opinion the first one was the star of the series.
igna_mike DiRT 2 was my favourite!
Add Burnout: Revenge to that list. Fantastic game.
No, Forza Horizon 2 was the best forza game. Bar none.
And no, DiRT 2 was by far the most engaging and entertaining Dirt game.
ummmm you are completely forgetting the origins of this game. Colin McRae Rally, Colin McRae Rally 2.0, Colin McRae Rally 3, Colin McRae Rally 2005... Then Dirt 1, 2, 3.... so it doesn't line-up in series unlike Gran Turismo.
I forgot this was IGN while this dude talked, please bring in more reviewers like this!
Nice, can now be purchased on steam.
"Three, two, one, go."

Just launch manually like everyone else.
what a waste of time comment
9.235 amazing
You can go
AC/DC references all over!
Matheus Alois Expected from an Australian reviewer heh
lol true
I noticed them too! Dirty deeds
done dirt cheap
this in my view feels like the rally game i have been missing this feels better than dirt rally the cars actually respond when i press the brake and does not just slide 3 miles before stopping so i am enjoying it 🙂

Got this a few days ago, absolutely brilliant game, cant go wrong with it.
4.5/10
Too much dirt,
IGN.
Danny Blue 😂😂😂😂
lol
Lol
Danny Blue
Get some new material
Got dirt 4 for for US$3.50 in a steam sale some months ago. I'm enjoying it in 2k resolution.
Lucky. I just bought the last key code on CDkeys for $54. But I just got into pc gaming. I wish I could get dirt 2 on pc :(
Playing this in 2021 and loving it
The narrator is gold, great review I'm gonna play this game right now.
Dirt 2 is still the winner by miles for me
I love how enthusiastic the commentator is!!! :D
Finally someone mentions how much better the lighting is :)
A 9.2. Nice!
The same as Forza 7. Yeah...
And Project Cars 2.
This guy needs to review all the racing games
Masterpiece of rally racing of this year! Definetly worth a try!
Codmasters are top tier
GODSPEED 33 seriously, their games are always fun! i need Grid autosport 2
More like GRID 3.
Slick AC/DC reference. Sick review, mate
I'm sad you can't see the other players on the rally stages like in Dirt 3 :(
Every Racing game must have split screen mode...
this felt less like a review and more like a promo
Its IGN, never trust anything they does or say.
Dirt rally is for experienced rally players who know what they're doing
Dirt 4 is for inexperienced rally players who don't know what they're doing
I'm a Dirt 4 guy.
I like when Jim Jeffries does game reviews
Codemasters seem to have delivered once again! Though for some reason every single video I've seen of DiRT 4 makes the graphics look terrible compared to DiRT Rally. Are all the clips from console versions?

really hoped VR was included in launch, i love the dirt rally VR mode and still play it to this day, hoping dirt 4 gets it soon
Clarkson esque similies. Bravo!
9?!? that's the most I've ever seen ign give to a race game!
This is the best reviewer we've had in a long time
one of the few reviewers that's actually good at games
Great review! Like other mentioned I want to see this guy do more.
I loved dirt 2 and dirt 3 when I was younger. Hope 4 is just as good
im still playing dirt4 in 2019 and gonna play it till 2020. the best rally game by codemaster in my gameplay experience of the game.
Dave The Flash21 is it better than dirt rally 2 ? debating between which of the 2 to buy. i played dirt rally 1 since it came out and also enjoyed dirt 3 back in the day so not really sure !
Nice review as always, Luke.
The Horizon doesn't look that good with Dirt in the eyes. 🤣😂🤣😂😈
Wild
its awesome that the "your stage generator" doesn't look like its flat, boring, and repetitive. It looks like a legit track still.
I am 2 trophies away from platinum, and whilst this game is amazing in many ways, career mode can get a little too repetitive. The reviewer is obviously an AC⚡️DC fan, that means he has earned my trust 👍
bought this yesterday, this is the first dirt game i ever bought, and i love it! :)
Very good review. Luke Reilly knows what he's doing, especially when it comes to this genre. Codemasters have always made great games in my opinion. They are one of very few developers who I trust and have not disappointed over the years.
Code master lives up to their name
Can you play this game completely offline?
2:09 did his wheel just felt off?
Cidemasters should implement customization for tracks. Allow us to make our own with various challenges and different maps and weather.
0:36 Nice AC/DC reference
SHAWKLAN 27 and 1:29
Loving those AC/DC references
Think there will be any VR mode down the line?
Dirt Rally VR is one of my favorite games of all time.
Needs CAT & MOUSE on multiplayer that game was so much fun trying to get your mini to the end first as you smash out there's.Please bring it back!!
Jim Jefferies??
xDDD
wish rally races were like dirt 3 when there were multiple people on the track :(
I bought the previous game and it's was dire to control. Has the new version improved, as in the controls?
I love the 30 second ads
Just picked up my preorder one day late and saved!!! $34.99 on sale at gamestop. Dude was super confused because it literally came out yesterday
The pace notes are one of the things that let WRC6 down for me, It's good to hear Dirt's got em right.
Loved the AC/DC references
I love all the AC/DC references hahah
f1 2017 and this.. codemasters is really stepping up their game
Great video review man not long either
Man I've been with this series ever since DiRT 1 I hope the guys at code masters have made Colin Mcrae proud.
i have a question fot you: the damage system is better then dirt rally or is equal...for may opinion, the damage car in dirt 4 is better than dirt rally...
Dirt rally VR mode pretty much made all other racing games redundant to me.. its that good! so its a shame this does not have VR
Now that I've had a chance to play it I've got to say that this guy was spot on, great game
Love the AC/DC references!
no splitscreen?
We can play with another guy seat in the same room? Means 2 controls in the same machine? Thanks!
Is there a rewind feature? If not I think I'm in.
Steveypoos Why would you not be in if there was? You could just disable it.
i am not happy.
had CMR 04 & 05' and then dirt 2 & dirt 3.
hate the fact you have to complete landrush events during career to advance. why not have a career for each discipline?
but i must say graphics and sound
holy smokes it's awesome.
The AC/DC references may have tipped the scale towards 'buy' for me
Don’t forget that if you crash You actually have your vehicle destroyed so it’s harder and more fun. Something The crew 2 got me bored of in minutes. There’s no effort in racing on the crew 2.
nice AC/DC reference at the beginning....
More of Luke Reilly please!!! Such an enthusiastic sounding unbiased guy, what do you say folks, time to make IGN great again? :'D
Love the AC/DC references..!
Beautiful review. I'm actually going to buy this game.
About the game, I feel this is taking game design to a whole new level.
