Hey bud First off great hunt and filming. Thank you for not talking through the whole thing and giving us just filler info like others, miss this quality. Hope you are not paying any mind to the negative comments below. Please keep doing this insanely jealous of the style of country you guys have up there, hope to get up there soon to try this myself. Just so damn beautiful, Thank you!
Love how you show an ACTUAL bear hunt, and all of these idiots are complaining it was boring because you didnt kill anything. Ridiculous. Fantastic video! Took a shot from a kayak and they say its boring!? You can tell none of them actually hunt. Keep up the great videos
Great video! Bowhunting is a lot more than just killing. After 56 years of bowhunting I still enjoy every day out there whether my intended target animal was seen or not. so much more to Enjoy in Mother Natures Glory! Do you have any Bear guide to recommend who deals with those of us shooting recurves/longbows? Thanks, Kelly
It's pretty maddening watching people moan and complain about authenticity in hunting videos. Don't sweat the morons who can't sit through a video that's not a ridiculous kill reel. You got some great footage of bears, camp, target practice, and nobody willing to complain about that has any idea what they're talking about.
I knew you guys weren't gunshy!!! I saw that rifle.. I mean surely you mst still own guns, even if you are primarily a bow hunter like myself.. I still enjoy a good day at the range, even if I don't gun hunt so much...
@@gunshyarchery next year hopefully you get it. Have to admit bear hunting is one of my favorite things to do. Mainly because you don't get one every year. I had three goals with bear. Get one with rifle did that. Get one with a muzzleloader did that Oct 19th. Now one with my bow. After watching your video I'm adding another get one with a longbow.
not a hunter so dont know the game but i came to this video cause i respect people doing things the traditional way. however, i was thinking using a bow on a bear would likely cause unnecessary suffering unless you got a perfect shot which i assume is extremely difficult with a longbow. was surprised to see you not take a few what i thought were "openings" while in the tree. can you (or anyone) explain why they weren't good shots to take or your thought process behind those moments?
Thanks for watching. Yes they were all good shot opportunities but I felt no need to shoot as it was not a large bear. Would have been a good meat bear but I was holding out for a larger Brown that didn't present a shot. Also, archery hunting is often a faster more humane death without the animal even knowing it was hit. Often they run a few feet, look around and fall over dead. Unlike a gun that is concussion causing most of the damage inside. Plus scaring the crap out of the animal at close range. Ans anyone near it.
Great hunt, I enjoyed the video immensely, but man you need to practice your bow and arrow handling, shooting and kayaking technique. It was painful to watch sometimes. Tip: canoe or anything with one blade paddle is better (quieter) for hunting. But you must know the paddling technique (at least J stroke).
Anima Triste yeah maybe. You try filming, paddling, nocking an arrow, standing and shooting in a kayak. At a bear. Send me the link once you upload it. 😉
@@gunshyarchery OK, I got it. Camera threw You off. I respect that, I am very bad in filming something, to the point, that I try to avoid it at any cost. But on the serious note: when I was younger, I was a windsurfing instructor. My hobbies were and are still canoeing and kayaking. I also use a SUP board. I paddle often in canoe standing, for hours, just not to sit all the time. I am much better shot with a bow than you, when you are not holding a camera. So, standing in any boat and shooting a bow would be much much easier for me, if you believe me, or not. Filming me doing it, however not, and I gave you credit for that. What makes me wonder is though, how can anybody who has such problems in any of mentioned skills take that last shot on a bear and call himself an ethical hunter. On a tree, you had numerous opportunities and that on a distance on which good archers (just good, not very good or excellent) can split nocks, because groups are so tight, but you didn't shoot. I know why. Because I saw you shooting at the target. Look at the comments, I am not the only one who thinks so. You can be patronizing as much as you want. But your time would be much better spent learning why you are a bad shot and then shooting much more than you do. I have nothing to prove. I am not posting here on RUclips, you are. As do many others, better archers than You.
Anima Triste Ha Ha Ha! I love reading comments like this! Love it! Thanks for taking 20 minutes out of your day to watch the video. And thank you for taking another 20 minutes to type your comments. I’m sure you’re a super shot, and just don’t want anyone to know, that’s why you don’t video it. And that’s fine. I don’t care. In fact I couldn’t care less how good you are at shooting, paddling, standing or j stroking. (Which we all learned in grade 6 canoe class) I don’t care. But thank you for your time, time is valuable. And you seem like a busy guy. Have a good day. Don’t forget to subscribe for more vids with shitty shooting!
Lol 5 or 6 shots a black bare as or bigger and 3 to 4 browns and you choose to shoot a bare from the moving boat lol wow you could have had meat and a Fer rug or blanket but got nothing
Really sad the animals you killed to make this video, I shoot but only 3d targets and get so much out of it without the killing, I’m sure you will justify it but I’m not sure anyone has the right to take a life ………
I can't speak for the guy that made this video, but my guess is that like most hunters, he wanted to kill and eat. Bear meat is delicious. Are happy happy to successfully take an animal? Sure - it's the culmination of a lot of effort as well as some random chance. But the death of the animal is not taken lightly. We simply enjoy a more direct connection to the food we eat. If I go and buy a steak from a grocer I have killed that cow as surely as a hunter kills a game animal, but I have relied upon multiple middlemen to do the killing and processing of the meat into the product I buy and have almost no connection to the animal as it lived. As for the baiting, it certainly increases odds for the hunter. In many places the terrain and vegetation are such that it is highly unlikely to encounter a bear any other way. In any case it still leaves the bear far more chance to escape than a cow or a pig that is born to die and lives it's life in a pen or a pasture. In any case, I suggest you spend less time speaking on things you don't know that much about and assuming the motives of people you've never once met. There's plenty of actual evil in the world if you just need someone to vilify.
Really enjoyed your video. Also want to say that I respect the restraint you showed by not taking a less than ideal shot. Well done.
Nice work getting up on that bear from the Kayak. I didn't think you would be able to get those close, but you pulled it off! Nice work!
Amazing. Kayak hunt did not see that coming.
Awesome video
This is what real hunting looks like, it's not all glam and success
Nice to see you don't need a fancy high power bow with fancy arrows to take down game as big as bear
That was awesome!

Great hunts!
Thanks Doug.
I'm jealous! I wanna go
That was a great hunt!
Thanks man. It was a great hunt. Not always about the kill.
This is way better than playing any hunting video game..
My luck I'd have shot out my back window
I was thinking same thing lol. Especially with a recurve I'm ok but not that confident lol
Same!!!!
Please make more videos. Love you channel.
We're trying!!

Nice hunt
Nothing like velcro when you want to be silent.
I like my Longbow also and as a hunter we know we don`t always get our game . Good video
should rename video watching bears while holding a bow
OK boomer where does it say shooting bears with longbow?
Its titles bowhunting with a longbow and hunting is not always about killing
@@cfong_sports394 Its not? can you explain the other part of hunting
@@royalblodline9847 having fun
@@cfong_sports394 Yeah and the fun part is the adrenalin you get when you are killing the animal

I have a straight limb long bow, and I'm jw, would you recommend I have the string on or off when not in use? Or doesn't it matter?
I never take my strings off unless its in a hot vehicle. but that does not mean its correct, that's just me.
6:12 into video ...I hate spiders too :)
