  • How BIG is SpaceX Starlink in comparison to other Internet Service Providers? SpaceX made more money as an internet service provider, $4.2 billion in 2023 revenue, than it did as a space company launching rockets to orbit, $3.5 billion.
Today we compare SpaceX Starlink to AT&T, Comcast, etc. to see how they fare.
Do think SpaceX Starlink could surpass current Telcos?
What do you think about SpaceX Starlink's rapid growth?
Would you purchase Starlink IPO Stock?

Going public is a double edged sword. SpaceX has the freedom to run and build Starlink without SEC/Gov/ Compliance/research analysts setting quartlery performance expectations --all the noise that comes with going public. There is an argument they would be better off selling shares in the secondary market and never going public.

Oh and our local utility they string fiber and were working on my street so I asked one of the supervisors what they would be offering
    He said very fast service
Hitting 40 down and 5 to 10 up
I asked if he had heard about the new fcc standards
He said he had to go
    😅
As he was getting to his truck I pointed to my pizza box on my roof and told him 150 to 200+ down and 15 to 20 up
He was looking at my dish as he drove away 😮

If SpaceX had an IPO I'd buy in to it but I fear I would not have the money. When initial rumors of an IPO started the neigh sayrs said SpaceX was a sub $1 Billion company but in it's current state I personally believe SpaceX is a multi-billion dollar company. Starlink is growing at a crazy pace, Starship is advancing by leaps and bounds, and the last time they lost a Falcon 9 or a Falcon 9 booster was because of rough ocean condition on the return to port. Let's not forget the lost boaster just completed a record breaking 19 or 20 recoveries.

I feel it would be far more economical to connect devices to towers than to satellites. I can't see terrestrial towers going away anytime soon, especially in dense population areas where a cell towers can be mounted on a power pole and deliver high bandwidth to targeted areas. In the rural areas, absolutely agree LEO satelite is the way to go.

Starlink only needs to add a Fanto cell to their existing Wi-Fi router. That allows cell phones to connect indoors through the Internet. This would make any building with the Wi-Fi router also be a cell phone access point.

  • @kevingebert4316
    @kevingebert4316 3 месяца назад +3

I'd say starting out they could simply require the starlink wifi for wireless calling or a special relay antenna like the ones Cell towers require to boost signal inside homes and business buildings. I'd be for sure wanting in on the IPO for Starlink stock. Its like you said and only to get better and more diverse uses.

The telco do not have fiber in many places I live in Chicago and some places fiber is already available but in others it is still pending. Once the fiber is in place they can lower their prices to compete. But The issue of getting cell service thru starlink that gets into bldgs is a big hurdle. If they can force a hostile takeover of a telco and take ownership of the cell towers the could operate both delivery methods making the phones able to switch between satellite signal and cell tower signal. I had a cell with dual Sim cards, so something along that line of operation.

      @@jcristina Maybe. 😂
In the past three years alone, if I were in AT&T's shoes, needing to invest billions in infrastructure for fiber and for erecting towers, I'd be aware that every obstruction to my signal necessitates the construction of another tower. The advent of Starlink's satellite technology would pose a paradigm shift - with a single satellite, potentially connecting all customers without interruption from obstacles. Such a revelation would invoke a reassessment of my strategic priorities.
If I was AT&T I just may entertain the notion of leveraging Starlink, capitalizing on their service to expand my offerings and reap substantial profits from service contracts.
Like you said, move away from towers and concentrate on fiber connectivity.
Another thought would be to potentially fill up the congested cities with micro towers and cellular APs. All those hard to reach places for sats. Either way I would watch and wait before burning up the billions on infrastructure.
      Then.
Instead of drill baby drill. AT&T will bill baby bill. lol

Looks like the commercial customers are making up for the foreign lesser paying customers. Not sure what the total addressable maritime market is? It would seem to me that almost every commercial ship will have a Starlink dish on it in the next couple of years.
If I had a fiber connection I would most likely drop my Starlink because fiber is more stable and better band width.

Curious as to why Starlink subscription is so much cheaper in France than US?

Do not forget that once Starlink is more 'fully' deployed it will only be easier and faster to have I-net anywhere any time.
As for your point about getting through the walls and such just think about a 'new' type smart phone. One that listens and communicates in the native frequencies of the Starlink satellite consolation. Believe me the smart phone manufactures would line up to produce it. SpaceX merely needs to provide the service / connectivity. No more changing out SIM cards when traveling.
Now on the money side, remember Elon is a big supporter of 'Cryptocurrency'. He speaks of how it has the potential to do away with all the exchange and transfer overhead (fees) in global economy. I can see the day coming when you can purchase and use Starlink with Cryptocurrency. Remember Elon was once part of PayPal. In the long game this would minimize the issues of any single countries currency or economic / political upheavals impact on SpaceX / Starlink.
Power and freedom to the people.

It is simple 300 million paying $5 or 3 billion paying $2. What would you go for.

Some kind of repeater from the dish to indoors. Maybe. I'm not an expert in this.

They should give opportunities to buy stock to the original subscribers first in my opinion! That will never happen, but it is a cool idea.

I don’t think that the ARPU comparison is really valid because you are comparing old technology copper / fibre progressive and slow deployment with huge infrastructure costs with nationwide / global digital extremely fast space deployment. Further copper wire subs were initially very cheap, and Starlink much greater. But agree the telcos are going to suffer to survivre - or join one of the sat constellations. Bye

Buying into an IPO "immediately' is pretty sketch. Especially these days with the meme traders and moonies in the market. I would buy it but first let the kids have their fun with it. Let the petulance wear out

Also under the current circumstances ( political) Elon will not go public with it.
