Shit dude, I went through this whole game not trusting Solas at all, knowing he was lying about _something_ at the very least (though I had NO idea what it was) and yet at that line, nothing. I just thought the dude was being a dick about how today's elves are different. Like I thought he was saying "Really? Elves like you? You're barely an elf at all" or something along those lines and Solas was basically just being like "yeah, bro you got a better idea?".

As you get near to the end of the game Solas reduces the amount of acting, near the end he basically just avoid outright saying it.

I let her drink it on my first playthrough, I’m kinda glad I still get to spite her in the end. After that though, I always drink it myself, cause I was pissed
I always drink the well because my Inquisitiors are true scholars and they wouldn't lost opportunity like that. Also most of important they don't trust Morrigan, she didn't earn their trust
I have always trusted Morrigan since Origins, my Warden and her were like sisters, so yes, I would definitely give it to her. Also I like her more than Mary Sue of Andraste, aka the Inquisitor.

more like spent ten years studying, so it's more equivalent to a legit professor or professional trying to one-up an actual person of the culture. still obnoxious as fuck, but slightly less ignorant and significantly fancier.
Well, she is certainly way more knowledgable than a random elf from the ass end of nowhere, whose only claim is being born with pointy ears, rather than having any qualification to not squander it.

Elven vs ElvHen. Abelas calls the Dalish/City Elves "Elven," and says "they are not my people." His people, the ancient Elves, are Elvhen. Solas tells Abelas that "your people yet linger." Abelas asks: "Elvhen such as you?"
These two are having a secret conversation right in front of the Inquisitor and companions, and no one's the wiser.
Reminds me of Classical Latin vs Medieval Latin. Certain nuance in the grammar was lost.
Welsh is often used in many fantasy settings for Elvish languages and names (Tolkien, Elder Scrolls and so on) and Solas and Merrill in the Dragon Age franchise have very Welsh accents; I'm only saying this as the prelude to this tidbit - 'hên' means 'old' or 'ancient' in Welsh, so 'elvhen' genuinely just sounds like saying 'old elf' or 'ancient elf' in actual Welsh.
Sera’s delivery is just perfect, like “Guys come on, say the name out loud, AND TELL ME AGAIN YOU STILL THINK IT’S WORTH IT!”
When you’re dating Dorian he says “I don’t want to lose you to a well”
And that’s literally what made my first inquisitor not drink from it, despite being dalish. Hearing him say that broke me.
Blackwall also changes his tune if you're romanced to him. Can't remember what he says tho

I like how Cole is the only one that doesn't disapprove and or approve I am guessing is because this is too complicated and he just doesn't know what this is, or just doesn't care.
But the way Cole said his line I was like "NOPE! I AIN'T DOING THIS!"
Morrigan is so flippant regarding the existence of Mythal, I just love letting her use the Well. Muahaha.
It does gives a strange sense of satisfaction
One question with spoilers- If Lavellan drinks from this and is basically offered herself to Mythal, and Solas steals Mythals powers or essence to restore his strength, does that mean Solas is somewhat connected to Lavellan for eternity???? Cause I make her drink no matter what. For one, I don't wanna bind Morrigan to her abusive mother, and the other is that I feel possessive in regards to heritage and felt Lavellans anger when a human was trying to out match her about her own race and culture
That is the big question, isn't it? We won't really know until next game.
I believe Flemeth sent the soul of Mythal (and possibly the soul of one of the old gods if the dark ritual happened) through the eluvian to Morrigan/the Inquisitor (depending on who drank from the well), and Solas took only the power of Flemeth/Mythal. I don't know if that makes sense lol
I believe Mythal is still alive, she will probably fu** everyone in particular Solas who believe he is the smart (I like Solas but he is arrogant and his plains are weak). I like to think the inquisitor wouldn't fall in Mythal trap again because they spend to find a solution against mythal control with all mages of inquisition finding a solution. If morrigan drank she would fu***** for ever, because she can be smart but a group of people can do a work of genius in less time. She is only smart person neither a genius.
I think all companions, when romanced, don't want you to drink from the well.

I heard Blackwall's response might be different as well if you romance him, but I'm not sure.

I think Morrigan is being manipulated by the Well and since Flemeth is not dead, it makes even more sense. That is why she feels something from the well while the others actually don't (well maybe Solas does but whatever). You do realize that she should canonically wear the robes of possession by now. And those have the description of making one slowly obedient for the soul-transfer.
Characterwise Morrigan would never be that eager to head plunge herself into a power she has only vague information about. Even less so after hearing the guardian Abalas talk about being bound by Mythals will.
Morrigan is cynical, but not stupid enough to completely push aside "gods" and their existence. The thought alone should have made her step away from that well.
It is a detail I would love to believe since at that moment Morrigan was rather out of character. She was for preservation of old magic and tradition but not to that price. For example she never demanded you keep the anvil of void and use it. She knew the exchange of souls was not worth it. She knew doing the ritual for the archdemon was to preserve the old god soul and to save optional her loved one. IN exchange it would be her womb. Now that is actually something she is okay to exchange (lul) as long it stays matter of factly reasonable to the point where her own soul and self stays the same.
In this case with the well there was only one answer for Morrigan but yet she was nearly obsessed with drinking the water...
i really dislike this choice because i romanced her in DAO what will happen to the warden and Kieran because of this choice frightens me but i let her drink in the end because first it will teach her a lesson and second she could help the warden with it not to mention the dragon form will be useful at parties lol
Sera censored herself right there... when you play this game dozens of times, it's the little things. You cringe inside, knowing what this game could have been. If I can deal with ME:A, I can be fine with this game... but be forewarned... the Frostbite engine worsens everything it touches. High or low key, this game deserved so much more. 😤

I think Morrigan is the best decision, whatever Inquisitor. She is Mythal's daughter, and lore suggests Flemeth wasn't planning to extend her life but simply have Morrigan be the heir of Mythal's will. I reckon the Well knows this as Morrigan specifically beckons her first.
I never thought of it that way. Something about how eager Morrigan was to drink from the well screamed at me to not trust her, even though she is probably the most equipped of the group to handle the knowledge. If Solas agreed, I would've chose him. I wonder why he was so against it :/

SPOILER ALERT :
I believe Mythal power was transfered to Solas at the end of DAI and since Solas will be DA4 antagonist (yes it's true check the trailer), I think he will most likely use his power on the person that drank from the well and put that person in a miserable situation and since my Warden and Morrigan deserve a beautiful life with Kieran, then my inquisitor will have to deal with his friend while being his puppet.

I'm not sure I have that save anymore, so I'd have to figure out how to get there again. I also wouldn't be able to do the romance responses.
In my first play through, at that time I hadn't play DAO or even DA2, I know nothing about the warden or any background story. I really like Morrigan, she's a stunning, pretty, and a useful help (well maybe too obsessed with ancient magic power), so I let Morrigan drink, simply because she said she want it, and the inquisitor shouldn't risk herself obeying to a old god.
In my second play through, which my warden romance Morrigan and performed dark ritual, I just cannot see her risk herself, the warden would not lose her to the inquisition.
In truth Morrigan is the best suited. My elf did drink from the well though because it was her heritage. All the other times, including my next and last play through is going to Morrigan. It just makes more sense, even if I have to fight the Trespasser ghosts.

While Sera is cool in some aspects, when it comes to elves i find her very annoying, knowing about the past is also important and not something one should dismiss like she does.

Damn, I hoped we could just troll varric and throw him into the well with Blackwall. I missed that choice.
In my first playthrough I let Morrigan drink, then had that small cutscene were she happily enjoys those powers, and instantly loaded a pre decision save just to take it myself. Morrigan deserves nothing, she betrayed my grey warden after she did everything to make her happy and has earned no trust from my inquisitor. Power hungry bitch.

When playing as an Elf I drink the Well Of sorrows myself because fuck you Morrigan. When playing as another Race, I let Morrigan drink. I do not Trust Morrigan, but seeing that smug smile come off her face when Flemeth shows up does put a smile to my face.

If you mean the ending with Abelas alive, you have to complete the elven rituals at the temple and choose to ally with sentinels. Otherwise, if you go after Corypheus' men and you don't complete the rituals, Abelas doesn't trust you. So you have to fight the sentinels and Morrigan kills Abelas at the well.

It's an editing jump. I think I asked her about the price or said "perhaps no one should use it" before I asked for everyone's thoughts. Since this video is about the companions, I thought it best to cut out some of the extra dialogue that just talking with Morrigan.

Morrigan: raised by the avatar of Mythal, have more knowledge than most of any people alive regarding ancient elves and stuff, save perhaps the ancient elves themselves (such as Solas and whatnot), having pierced together knowledge of many clans and other forgotten lore, singlehandedly activating an eluvian (a thing a certain dalish clan got really pissy about because they, save one of them, didn´t cared about their history)
Edgy Lavelans: but, but, I was born in a dalish clan u.u and gonna be pissy about it because something something cultural heritage.
Mature Lavellans: 'well, as I said once to Solas, he were right about the dalish, because, you know, most of the dalish only likes to complain about humans and brag about 'good shots', and as I was raised into them and not knowing jackshit about ancient lore even being a mage, I´ll delegate this possibly dangerous gestalt of ancient thingies to the person that, other than Solas, at least knows a bit about what the hell is happening here and was chasing this kind of damn thing her entire life.
