      Its not so strange, humans develop strange rituals when dealing with each other. According to real legends when the Magyars (Hungarians) were looking to migrate into the area that would eventually become Hungary they brought a horse with a golden saddle to give to the leader of the lands. They asked for land, water, and grass in return. The leader who thought the horse was a gift said jokingly that the Hungarians could take as much as they wanted so the Hungarians invaded. They claimed the leader "sold" the land to the Hungarians because he exchanged land, water, and grass for the horse with the golden saddle

    Sometimes I wonder whats behind the reasoning of some companions. I understand that while Sera is a good person she doesn't like it complicated thus asking a bad guy about his motives annoys her which in turn is annoying for gameplay. But Solas is a riddle to me. In the end i had a high approval rating with him but I really do not understand why he disapproves when you make florianne do farmwork

    • @Khontis
      @Khontis 2 года назад +16

      It's a bit complicated in their thinking but I'll see if I can explain:
      Solas is a bit complicated but remember he's the Dragon Age equivalent of a trickster being and why he does what he does "Those who desired more power killed the person who cared the most about her people to keep her from getting in their way of more power. And to punish them he made them suffer 'forever' for it" For Solas people like that that you judge, who step on others to get what they want need to get their due in some way shape or form. Having Florianne who just rolls her eyes at everything that goes on around her, doing farmwork isn't that 'punishing' she's just gonna go trudging about and really not care that she got beaten in The Great Game because she's going to be figuring out how to beat you in The Great Game while you aren't expecting it. As she puts it when you make her Josephine's agent "The Great Game is never truly over your worship"
      This is why in most things he's not a fan of simple "Exile" or "Just put them somewhere" he likes things that are both poetic in justice and heavy handed. ESPECIALLY when it comes to mages (One bad apple spoils the barrel thought process) except tranquility ((Remember, he views everyone in the world as basically Tranquil without being tranquil. For him that's the worst. thing. ever. even for scummy mages like Alexi))

    • @gzapray7203

      In my observation, Solas prefers a recruiting judge to an Inquisitor. Imagine working with your enemy under heavy watch? You have your freedom and your life... and you owe it to the Inquisition. IIRC, he greatly approves recruiting Florianne since he sees her skill (after all you don't survive the Game for many years if you're sloppy). Of course he will approve execution to people who are unrepentant of their crimes like Denam or Erimond. In his eyes, putting Florianne into farmwork means that you don't see her potential to strengthen the Inquisition and you have wasted her talents. So yeah, he probably sees you as an idiot.

    Why would Kirkwall want to see Samson suffer? he was an addicted ex-Templar who lived on the street and occasionally helped mage runaways, and his career with Corypheus doesn't appear to have harmed Kirkwall much. Unlike, say, the former Knight-Captain who has to have known about Meredith's 'death squads' (yes, DA2 called them that) but whom we are inexplicably not allowed to hang, draw, quarter or even fire from his (unearned) job.

    • @radiantred4158
      @radiantred4158 4 года назад +3

      As far as narrative goes, Samson is a "nobody". His charity for one mage meant nothing, and while Cullen contested the call to make Maddox tranquil and fire Samson, clearly it meant nothing, especially considering what other templars were doing. It's probably not a matter of what he did but where he came from. Kirkwall already has a reputation of shit templars, Meredith, Cullen for a time, but even he had a line he would not cross. That same can't be said of Otto Alrik and Ser Karras especially. They wouldn't want more of that. I could be wrong but that's my take on it.

      If a Templar or any form of Non-Mage had done it the Mages in the Inquisition would of declared war against the Inquisition. The entire Reason the Mage-Templar War started in full wasn't because of Kirkwall but because the Mages/Divine found out a Tranquil Cure exists and the Seekers and Templar Order kept it hidden for centuries and implemented actions to try and cover it up by Force meaning the attempted assassinations of Mages that found it out. The Mages soon rebelled afterwards because of these actions.
      Tranquility is a fate worse then death and the Mages know this all to well. They're not okay with a fellow Mage committing/ordering it but they do accept it. Essentially a Mage can do it because they're "one of them" but they still look down on the whole practice. A War Table mission afterwards can pop up and explain this if you choose Cullen.

      @@ВладиславШаклеин-ч7м I agree that the caliber of these specific Tevinter Magister's crimes warrant the punishment of Tranquility. But no Pro-Freedom Mages wouldn't ever advocate or approve of ANY Mage be they Southern or Tevinter or Dalish becoming Tranquil. Tranquility is in itself a form of punishment that takes away free will and choice by negating or erasing emotions you're in fact changing someone irrevocably and making them less like a person. Libertarians are all about Freedom...From the Circles, From Magical Regulation, From any policy that advocates it's okay to remove a person's autonomy or limit their powers in any shape or form. It just doesn't matter to them if you're the worst piece of shit monster to ever walk...If you're a Mage they'd defend your right to keep your mind whole and free.
      Moderate Mages could be won over with the facts and a sound moral argument. Loyalist Mages it'd be easy to win the support of when you tell them the prisoners are Tevinter Terrorists that worship a False God. The Money Lovers...They'll favor the opinion that makes them more coin so whoever bribes them better. The Isolationists would probably stay out of it and quiet seeking to remain unnoticed by any party...I wouldn't think they'd be a part of the public uproar unless given no choice.

      Personally, I have to disagree. Yes, Erimond sees himself as a martyr and all that, but if there's any justice in the Thedosian Beyond, he'll get what's really coming to him. But no matter how bad a Mage is, Tranquility is never the answer. Yes, Erimond is like the textbook example of what the Rite was meant for, but that's the point. The Rite of Tranquility should never be used, under any circumstance. Even if the Mage in question asks for it, there should be ways to quell demonic attempts at attacks/possessions and helping a Mage control their emotions, simply by teaching them through kindness instead of fear. Tranquility isn't a punishment, it's the monstrous, complete dehumanization(or other) of a person and a removal of any rights they may have.
