- In this Range Report I shoot and review a Sig Sauer P229. This is a pistol that has been used my police, civilians and militaries alike. It is a compact version of the P226 and a modernization of the P228. This version is the Elite chambered in 9mm. This video documents my personal thoughts, opinions and experiences with this firearm. Yours may vary.

Carried a Sig 226 for a duty gun for years. It was a great gun. Just bought a Sig Legion 229. Love it.
Those Legions are really nice.
That's a nice gun
The 229 is definitely my favorite Sig. Thats a beautiful Sig you have, I'd love to put it with mine. Always enjoyable to watch👍👍
Thank you so much!
Great pistol. I acquired the same pistol approximately 10 years ago in 40 S&W and it is such a pleasure to shoot. Sort of heavy being all stainless (frame & slide), but the weight is what makes it such a nice piece. You mentioned your frame is aluminum. Slide on mine says "made in Germany".
There was a transition period on these pistols. Some were made in Germany and some were not.
I like all the Sig metal models but I think their polymer line has too many QC issues that need to be worked out.
You make a very fair point and I think many others say the same.
Good morning, Jason, I realize that the Sig Sauer is a great pistol. But I have decided to buy myself another 1911 as the Sig will never be as good as Saint John's invention. Cheers
Both are great!
Really like the 229 and 226 Legion series.
The Legions are really nice.
Thx for the great video, as always! The p229 is a fantastic pistol. Would love to see a video comparing the utility of carrying a gun like the p229 vs carrying a more common carry gun like the G19. Kind of an interesting topic. Thanks again!
You are very welcome and thank you for watching!
That's a very classy pistol. My husband and I have many classic Sig Sauer pistols. Unfortunately they're no longer made in Europe, but the USA.
Thank you for sharing.
You are very welcome and thank you for watching. It sounds like you have a great collection there.
Awesome pistol, SIG should bring these back in Stainless.
I completely agree.
The newer P229 Elite Compact on SIG's website, material wise, is: Barrel - Carbon Steel, Slide - Stainless Steel, Frame - Alloy. And of course typical finishes . I have the P226 Elite, but for the P229 I'm going for the Legion in DA/SA and replacing the trigger with Grayguns adjustable flat, which I did on the P226. These are really nice handguns and I especially like the hammer fired and decocker features. I've sold some of my polymer striker-fired handguns as a result.
The Legion pistols are really nice.
Also it's the first pistol made in New Hampshire
I did not know that.
I have a P226 Elite Stainless model in 9mm. It has a stainless steel slide and frame. It is a great pistol, but is a chunky boy. Super accurate, I have been using it with Mecgar 18 round magazines and even have a 20 round magazine for it. I have thought about getting the E squared grip put on it. I don’t know if SIG even offers that anymore. Perhaps VG grips. I have extra large hands, but I find the grip size to be so bulky for CCW.
The E squared grips are nice.
Hello from Idaho!
Hello there!
It's probably due to the sights being combat hold. I had the same results first time out with my P229 Elite. Everything was printing low at 7 yards. Front dot needs to cover the target.
You are probably right.
Jason, the P229 was made to fire 40 S&W.
The P228 would have needed a crazy heavy spring to handle that cartridge.
According to the Sig Saure book #1 .
From Vickers.
It's a cool book if you get a chance to look at it.
I'm waiting for #2 to be ready for shipping.
Lol
I will check it out.
You have obvious better trigger management in DA. SA trigger management is harder because you don't have to think about it as much.
That is a very interesting insight. Thank you.
I like Sigs but the front sight green is a bit big on all their handguns wish they come smaller. 😛
I can see that.
its such a shame you can't even buy that stainless steel model of it anymore. I tried looking for it at multiple gun shops and it was almost impossible or insanely overpriced so I just settled for the all black enhanced elite model which was still cool
I completely agree. I love stainless guns.
Nice looking gun though.
Thank you
Seemed like it had a lot of recoil.
It was just the high bore axis.
@@thetexasgunvaultJUST?
Generally yes. These pistols flip more due to it in my opinion.
I've got the 40 Cal version now that's got some recall lol
Still not as good as the 5906!
I could see that point of view.
5906 is amazing but when you run out of spare parts, it will be a paperweight. S&W discontinued them to promote their M&P line. To me, that was the dumbest decision ever but that’s the current trend with anything.
@@JohnRambo-zz6gy Guess you don't understand manufacturing. The part are mass produced..
