Aint gonna lie. You're the last cat that I would ever think would be an Alex and Eddie Van Halen fan. Hopefully you're not trying to jump on the bandwagon and you really did grow up listening to that stuff. Me personally VH is part of my DNA.
Thank You so much! im 13 years old , you've helped me a lot in my drumming days. One of the best drumming channels on youtube. Straight to the point. Thank you so much again!
I gotta say, this guy is a total legend! Even after years and years of lessons I still keep learning seemingly random grooves and fills however they are anything but random. I’ve found myself using each and every one of these lessons at some point so for that I thank you as much as I possibly can for your everlasting wisdom!
If by ‘speaking to you’ you mean that incessant high pitch, uncontrolled, metallic ring, then I agree with you.. I personally just find it distracting. It makes me want to throw something on it. A sound engineer’s nightmare.
WOWWWWWWW!!!! AWESOME! I just got my first used drum set about 8 months ago. Replacing parts where needed, your videos are so helpful and extremely educational. "I'm learning", still at the part though on how to REPLACE THE SNAR WIRE!! LOL, I'm glad for your video back 7/2019. I'll have to go back in time and catch up on your other video's, so see ya when I catch up! I'm also trying to tune everything up, so I can appreciate how you amplify the simplicity of it all, you can take that 2-the bank! Thanks!
Hey Rob -- a bit out of leftfield but I'm curious if you'd do some videos on AfroBeat style grooves? I've recently been super fascinated by Tony Allen's playing and thought you would do a great job breaking it down a bit.
Im putting all three along with my ones im presently working on , Rob its interesting to see you switched back to these grooves with traditional grip very pleased with that. Thanks buddy.
Thank you for this work, buddy. I really like your teaching style and focus on displaying the fundamentals of each lesson. That’s actually how most of us learn the best & it’s extremely valuable to me, personally. 🙏🏼💙🙏🏼
Rob Brown has, possibly, the smoothest stroke I've ever seen. Some drummers are just hypnotic to watch for the body language. Manu Katche is the same way.
Love your videos Rob! Possible to do one that explains or shows some simple accented bell ride groves? As a beginner player these seem to be harder than they look and difficult to find much instruction about on the web. Thanks from New Zealand!!
Hey Rob, I agree with you on pedal selection,I played the Dominator and pro V1's for years, I recently sold the Dominators and bought a set of Drumnetics, ooooh baby, they are super smooth only had them for a few days but they are quite impressive.
Hey Rob, just wanted to say thanks for turning me on to Avantone! I hadn’t heard of them, and I was looking at the usual suspects... After a LOT of A/B listening I’m just blown away by the sound - it’s not as good as pricier mics, it’s BETTER! The SM57/beta52 combo sounds good, these sound better. Same for AKG and Audix. Head to head the Avantone have more body, and better pre-eq sound. So yeah, I got the big tweed suitcase, baby! That’s the icing on the cake, the Superfly suitcase. I don’t think these will be flying under the radar for long, they’re impressive mics for the price. Thanks again man, I would never have even looked for Aventone if you hadn’t demo-ed them. I’ll be giving you some competition soon! (Not really, but a guy can dream)
Some nice pocket grooves going on here. I can’t fill like that but I can hold the groove down. Need to work on #2, I’m finding the double snare is catching me out. It’ll get there. Thanks for grooves Rob, I’ll use them responsibly.
FLOSS. Whateva you want, bruh! I’d be honoured to serve you and Shoes ❤️ Leave it with me for a bit and I’ll cook up somethin’ hot 🔊 I’ll hit you up on IG
Yaw! I I gots somethin’ for ya, bruh! (Sorry for the lateness!) Tried to get’cha on Thursday but not sure if I hit up the right email address. Where can I hook you up with the link? 🙂
All 3 grooves are cool and good to get this shit going and understood in the methodical fashion.. Funky.. But i think groove 3 stands out for it's musicality, 1and2 are just cool!
Hey I just kinda got a drum set like two weeks ago and just got down how to play a few 8 count beats what do you think would be the next step into being able to play a song ?
I'd love to see you do a video on single bass drum flam triplets and reverse single bass drum flam triplets....the only drummer I have ever seen do it is Dennis Chambers.....
As soon as I heard the 1st groove, I thought to my self "I need to get this down". Already day dreaming bout the applications I could do for new songs. And pressed the download button immediately.
Great video and seriously motivating. Maybe you are too young to have experienced Mahavishnu real time but a list of fusion drummers must include Billy Cobham. He still amazes me today and he is the first drummer in my formative years that ever made me stop and think “this guy is a monster” before that term was in common usage. Ooooh, photography and BBQ -you are amazing.
Hi, Rob. I 've noticed that you playing in the head on a kick drum. Is it your personal preference? Did you try to play out of the head? I'm started myself with playing in the head as well, and now after Jojo Mayer and Benny Greb videos try to re-lean to play out of the head.
Sir i am getting snare buzz problem ! That my snare wire is vibrating automatically when i am playing kick drum or hitting a tom ! How to get rid of this problem please help me sir

Uncle Beatdown, I've said it before and I'll say it again: that snare speaks to me. 😳
There's a reason why you haven't seen any of my other snares on here since I set this one up 🏆

Congratulations on your sponsorship! ❤️ I liked all the grooves but I'll stick with first one for know.
Thanks man! 🥁

That 1st grove almost like the song 50 ways to leave your lover. Without the snare part.Liked them all. Especially the last

That 3rd beat is all sorts of genius.
I’m so thankful for your teaching style man! It resonates with me a ton. I’m a much player because of you.
I like all of them but the last one has a nice groove that I like.

Like how you play these beats and exercises for lengthy periods so even those “slightly slow drummers” like myself can get it in their heads!
Rob, I really think you are the best drummer teaching on youtube. Thank you a lot!! From Argentina. 😊🎶
Thanks a bunch, man. Huge compliment considering some of my colleagues out here 🙂
That fill in 6:39 is so good, I wonder if it is double stroke only or is there another way to play that fill?
That’s just your standard gub’ment issue 6-stroke roll 🥁👌🏽

Of course it is, now I get it... Thank you! 🙈

Great! Just the boost I needed, tnx Rob!

hi rob, last one, what's diff on the a & f tuning? snares of only?
Guys asked me to play some fusion, cobham was always tough for me, legend
this helped me a lot
May I ask what snare head you're using? Also, what reso heads on your toms?
Groove #3
Great video, Rob. Man, that A&F snare sounds incredible. Really want to get one even though they’re so expensive 😂
Save your pennies. They’re well worth it 🌟

Hi im from Philippines can you make a tutorial to how to tune the floor tom ? God bless

Hi Mr. Brown,
I only wanna know, why the 3rd Beat is played without snare wire?!?

Hey Rob, do a vid about Concert Tom's removing the resonant head, its time for them to come back, its been too long.
Thanks for this video!
Amazing! Thanks!

What speakers u use sir?
Hey Rob, did you ever get into Uzeb, in particular - Noisy Nights, 1998 ? Peace and stay as cool as you always are!

Is that the 22" modern essentials ride?
Yuuuup 🏆
I would like to get all three of those beats down!

Hey, it's not ALL guys that love your videos! Please try to give your female drummers some acknowledgment too. I'm going to practice groove #3.
