There needs to be honorable mention of impulse amplifier. We know reloading for voltshot is important, and this perk helps with exactly that. Reload speed stat + reload duration scaler, projectile speed increase to make it more snappy and no crit required unlike archer's tempo. All-around good alternative
That's a solid combo! My fav was a commemoration w/ shotgun frame and mulligen off plank's stride. Shot off into the air for 1 second and you'd be max ammo so killing tally never went away. Good times.
PSA here: consider impulse amplifier over archers tempo. For me personally (meaning I haven’t done any testing), the time between shots seems shorter a bow crafted with draw time improving 1st/2nd column perks and masterwork, with impulse to improve reload speed. Unless you’re running arc loader mods, I’d suggest at least giving impulse amplifier a try.
I 100% came in here expecting the frame difference to be talked about. Impulse/Volt feels so freaking quick on my random roll. I'm at the Enclave now though and must know! XD
Archers Tempo is only 37ms faster than Impulse Amplifier when proc'd, otherwise, Impulse Amplifier is 116ms faster. I used D2Foundry and just added reload+draw times. Impulse = 1176ms w/ drawtime mw. AT = 1292ms base, 1139 when proc'd w/ reload masterwork (drawtime mw= 1296ms, 1152ms) Reload speed gets capped out w/ Impulse Amplifier so you can get another +10 accuracy in 2nd column.
The one thing trinity ghoul still has on it is being able to shoot things behind walls and clear trash ads without aiming, simply hip firing the floor in their general direction and taking them all out. But that’s a good thing, keeps TG unique and feeling exotic
this thing feels more exotic imo since it can actually synergize with arc unlike trinity ghoul bungie is either gonna have to completely rework trinity ghoul, buff it into the stratosphere, or nerf voltshot on purple bows if they want trinity ghoul to ever see the light of day again
Id say TG is still unique and feels exotic exactly because of its perk. Any arc kill activates the perk and it doesn't need a direct hit to proc the lightning. Plus the lightning rod arrow isn't on a timer

For the bow enthusiast, they've also changed Archers Gambit slightly from when it was only on Hush as a pinnacle weapon. First: previously, if you ADS'd at any point during the draw before releasing, AG would deactivate. Meaning you could draw the arrow, ADS, then un-ADS and shoot the shot, but it would not activate AG on hit. You had to remain in hip-fire the entire time from draw to release to activate it. Now, you can ADS and un-ADS and still proc AG. Because of this, you can ADS for more pin-point accuracy and right as you let off the ADS button, release the fire button. You'll still be in the animation of un-ADS'ing but the arrow will have target acquisition as if you were ADS'ing but proc AG as if you were hip-firing. I haven't tested if your handling stat affects the timing of when you need to release your arrow, however. Second: the timer now counts up to 8 seconds instead of a flat 8 seconds on proc. I believe the number of seconds you get is dependent on enemy type, but again, I haven't tested this specifically.
If there's going to be any Legendary weapon that equals or surpasses an Exotic, let it only be endgame weapons. A raid weapon should feel special. Especially an Adept one.
Pvp id actually recommend hipfire and gambit and then stacking that with free hand grip would making landing the hs even better tbh you could also make the case of using impulse for the reload speed (helps pvp ttk with faster reloading of the bows)
Yes got a hush with impulse and archer's tempo. I like to switch between the two. But when i'm not having a reloader mod on my armor, impulse is definitely the way to go.
As a casual, I love the weapons that double up on *fun* perks. Dragonfly+Volt Shot? Yes please! Cluster Munitions+Destabilizing Rounds? Don't mind if I do! Explosive Payload+Kinetic Tremors? You had me at Explosive. I'm certain they're not metah, but they sure are beautiful.

With this voltshot bow which is just a legendary trinity ghoul, I really hope they make it so that TG attacks count as jolt. Like no change at all to the bow, other than adding the Jolt keyword so it works better with aspects and fragments
dunno how useful this info is. but "allies nearby" includes all blue dots, including NPCs from what i can tell (unsure about onslaught decoys/turrets, not gonna test)
The part that I think still gives Trinity Ghoul the edge is how much easier it is to active and use. Volt shot you have to hit a target to jolt them and if you miss on a follow up it won’t do anything whereas trinity ghoul any arc kill will load that charge and you can shoot the ground and it’ll still damage everyone in the radius. I like the idea of a volt shot bow but I still like trinity more.
I weirdly had an idea for a gun perk while watching this video. Closed circuit: arc grenade kills causes this weapon to jolt on kills for a short duration. Precision kills with this weapon return a small amount of arc grenade energy
It wouldnt be as strong as voltshot, as the jolt would not be as perma active, but the tradeoff is being able to build into arc grenade builds more effectively
Reminder for pvp, go for accuracy over draw time for the masterwork and try to find a good mix. You don't really need a 612 draw speed with Archer's Gambit and when it comes to fast paced bow gameplay you want to run at least 70 accuracy at the absolute minimum.
ive been using opening shot/desperate measures in pvp and holy shit its such a banger. 1 head 1 body after a single kill, if youre peekshotting like you should be with a bow, its a workhorse of a pvp primary
another nice thing about Voltshot is it will not go away until either the timer runs out of you apply it to an enemy. missing will not consume it like Trinity Ghoul does. Trinity is good for easy content, but this bow is good from easy to GM content

It seems instances where you would take out a group of red bars with 1 shot of Trinity Ghoul takes two shots with Non daynoomont. Although, Trinity ghouls perk has to be active. It’s tricky. They’re very close and I think a great change for Trinity Ghoul would have its perk always active on every shot instead of on final blow. Some instances it technically is every shot but the instances where there’s a higher health group of enemies, Non Dawnoomunt is better. Please Bungie make Trinity ghouls perk active on every shot.

Impulse amplifier let you release the arrow without fully drawn and getting reasonable accuracy. Fully activate Archer’s tempo would be better but Impulse Amplifier works for free.
My issue with this bow is that archers tempo and voltshot are on it. Which means all other perks are irrelevant and all other arc bows will be irrelevant unless it has this combo on it. Power creep is real
Dragonfly+chaos reshaped is a great combo. People are sleeping on impulse amplifier on bows as well, reload speed is arguably as good as drawtime, and you don‘t need a headshot to proc it.
They will have this same bow available soon from another source... watch lol they always give us 2 or more of the same weapon just with different origin perks.
Gotta try that Maahes two burst hand cannon with repulsor brace+destabilizing rounds. Thing slaps so hard. I run it with lucky pants but it's probably insane with gyrfalcons.
Lucky for you, the bow can drop from the first encounter, which even below average lfgs breeze through. Thats 3x chances per week even if you do literally nothing else.

rework trinity ghouls caty to make the arrows proximity and jolt.. that way u have a continuous aoe effect and it would work out perfect with the arrow spread, locking down areas.. maybe it could last 4-5sec..
It’s actually better than trinity ghoul because it actually jolts. Trinity ghoul needs a buff/change so the lighting it makes actually jolts it makes no sense that it still doesn’t after all this time but a legendary bow does.
There is a bigger prrk that you are missing, at least I'm mostly sure. Trinity doesn't use the verbiage "jolt" and volt shot does. The big deal here crown of tempest... look in that 😊
Excellent vid and commentary as always man, but I still can't get my head around WHY I would use this when Trinity Ghoul EXISTS, with almost the same perks, the added damage of the exotic, and as you said TWO more arrows coming out the bow.
...But I have to play the raid to get it... Which mwans I need to find a group that (hopefully) isn't toxic and teach me. Then I have to play it more than once to get the bow unlocked... Yeah, guess I'm not getting that bow. 😩
You know what they should do. Instead making super easy to enhance your weapons and get such a super small bump in buffs, instead, make us grind for the enchantments but also give it good stat bump. I don’t even bother enchaining because some are just so pointless

Dragonfly > archer's tempo. Elastic+ compact + draw time mw = 576 draw time, and once amplified it's fast as you can draw it. Archers tempo is kind of a waste.

Another difference is that Voltshot works on hit, so if you miss and hit the ground, it won’t activate. Good or bad is up to how you use it.

A bow with Voltshot?! I have been saying I wanted this for 2 years. Now I really need to find a team to help me through the raid for my first time.
Use the built-in fireteam finder, it works, it's slow but at least you can learn and get what you want over time.

The archers tempo glazing is crazy, i literally didn't even notice i had it on it made such a small difference

My very first drop was a dragonfly + Voltshot. This might be my most favorite weapon of all time for D2.
I don't think I'm ever gonna be able to craft a raid weapon other then last season with the wishes

rework trinity ghouls caty to make the arrows proximity and jolt.. that way u have a continuous aoe effect and it would work out perfect with the arrow spread, locking down areas.. maybe it could last 4-5sec..

I got a voltshot one doing the first encounter so you don't need to do the entire raid.
Bungie needs to give us a precision kinetic bow. The last one we got was in beyond light 💀

yeah i just got a roll of hush with archer tempo & successful warm up & i dont think they stack..it defs didnt feel super quick drawing back the bow
It’s actually better than trinity ghoul because it actually jolts. Trinity ghoul needs a buff/change so the lighting it makes actually jolts it makes no sense that it still doesn’t after all this time but a legendary bow does.
There is a bigger prrk that you are missing, at least I'm mostly sure.
Trinity doesn't use the verbiage "jolt" and volt shot does. The big deal here crown of tempest... look in that 😊
i had to check DIM after this and turns out i have a random roll that dropped with tempo and voltshot.
Just saying, Archer's Gambit + Archer's Tempo + Collective Purpose + Oathkeeper means drawtime = FAST

In excision, on console, archers tempo+ origin trait (+6,that's the max) makes it look like there is no reload. It's actually hilarious

You know what they should do. Instead making super easy to enhance your weapons and get such a super small bump in buffs, instead, make us grind for the enchantments but also give it good stat bump. I don’t even bother enchaining because some are just so pointless

Dragonfly > archer's tempo. Elastic+ compact + draw time mw = 576 draw time, and once amplified it's fast as you can draw it. Archers tempo is kind of a waste.
