I, deliberately or not (99% not, like all of us :D), heard this song countless times since it came out (not consciously but close) and George Michael's voice is one of a kind, always liked hearing him. What i never ever witnessed was an instrumental version. It's about time, thank you very much! Absolutely superb 🎹🎆🎄
It's possible the original synth was a Juno 60 (supposedly used on "everything she wants" at least) so makes sense that a 106 could cover that territory :)
Fantastic, excellent version you done of this song. Just to think it was 40 years ago and I remember this in the charts. The days I would watch top of the pops on tv and look at all the synths that groups was using lol. The DX7, Jupiter 8 and the juno 106 use to be the popular guess on music shows. Anyway great job you done here and just love seeing all this equipment making good classic tunes. Thanks for sharing and love your channel and appreciate what you do.
Thank you for your feedback Michael. A real classic. It's still played very often on the radio here in Germany. All December long, actually. :D I like the song. It always puts me in a good mood and a good mood is important at this time of year. I wish you a nice weekend
Wow, I was four when Wham! recorded this song. I didn’t first hear it until nearly 10 years later, and I didn’t know it was the B-side of “Everything She Wants”, but I always liked it. The cool thing about your cover, RS, is a combination of how well you played and that you had some of the same synths (and drum machines) that George and Andrew utilized in ‘84.
Those vintage Juno 106 strings sound amazing even thru my crappy smartphone speaker. I attempted to copy this patch on my Boutique JU06A but these synths sound far superior
@@retrosound72 Thank goodness, otherwise you would have had the shs10 at least 20 cm up your a*s on Christmas Day. Now....explain that to the emergency room..
@retrosound72 Yamaha turned the track into cheese back in the late 80's when they used it as a demo tune for some of it's toy keyboards, SHS-10 being one of them. It tainted the original forever,. 😂 You can thank RUclips for bringing this to my attention lol, it's AI offered me this from watching "How we made Micheal Jackson's Thriller". 😉

Merry Christmas time to you and keep it up with the great work ! ;-)
Thank you so much and Merry Christmas ✨👍
👍 awesome! Right of the good times in the 80s!
thank you!
As a young metal fan I hated this song with every fibre of my being. Here I am years later watching how it was done 😂
Haha yes that is the magic 😅👍
2024 and i stil love this song!❤

I thought it was the Jupiter 8
@@atarkus8 Yes it was. Also the "bell" sound originally comes from a Juno 60.
Last christmas, i gave you my heart...

Outstanding and fun and informative all at once, as always! Cheers to you and yours! 🙂

Love it. It highlights the brillant simplicity of the song and original production. Great version!

Wow super wow!
Thank you for your time 🙌
It's coming soon👉🎄🎅❄
By the way, a very good version of this track.👏👏👏👍👍👍
Thank you so much dear friend and Happy Weekend 🍂☀️❄️🙌
The Linn would have been the cherry on this! But an excellent interpretation. 40 years... gosh. RIP George Michael.
Thank you 👍
Definitely a good Christmas song and also works like this as an instrumental version :)
Thank you for your feedback
Great rendition :) I always thought the pad was done on a Juno 60, but I guess it could have been done on the 106. memories :)
The JU106
Thank you 🎹
Excellent 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤
Thanks a lot 🎹👍
This was a good one
Thank you 🙌
Great work again ! I always loved the PPG wave bells it was awesome !
Thank you so much 🎹🙌
As much as i hate to listen to all 15xmass songs for 3months every year. Merry Xmass my friend. 😋🤘
haha. ;)
Thank you so much friend. But wait more christmas songs coming here :D
@@retrosound72 Yeah i was already afraid of that. 😅
Very nice interpretation, as ever. I really love all your work.

Very good! So fascinating. :)
Thank you Kevin. 👍🎹
You beat me to doing the Pudding intro

I still have a Roland SH-101 . Very fun too see you use it ,still it has just one finger play.
yes monophonic. a great bass synth

love the song and recreation

This is the one we've all been waiting for. And as much I hate this song I can't deny it's a four chord melodic masterpiece.
Its a real classic for sure :)
Awesome, love it
Thank you John🙌
Santa's real name is Roland Waldorf - mal wieder super Cover
haha ja wahrscheinlich. :D Vielen lieben Dank
One of the best Xmas songs. And on that note, Merry Xmas Retro.
Agree with you. A classic.❄️✨🙌
Happy holidays 🍀
Great work! Nice sounds! The sound in the intro was one of the DX7 Jazz Guitar patches if you wanna check that out. Maybe you already knew haha. 😎
Thank you for your feedback 🎹👍

❄️🎹✨
Nice job again! I was a little surprised you didn't use your DX7 and Linndrum on this. They're quite dominant on the original track.
yes a bit different here in sound and arrangement. I love to experiment.
Thank you for your feedback :)
@@retrosound72 All good, I also liked the PPG as a replacement!

Anyone with a Yamaha SHS 10 in the 80ies. Last Christmas was the 'demo-song' Remember?
unfortunately not
@@retrosound72 Thank goodness, otherwise you would have had the shs10 at least 20 cm up your a*s on Christmas Day. Now....explain that to the emergency room..
What's doing the very good drum sound?
I use my Emax for the drums
@@retrosound72 а в России чаще крутят ABBA - Happy New Year.
@@Meiso ABBA - Happy New Year :))))
Sounds also like a Mario theme, don't remember wich one .....
Christmas Theme ❄️😅
GM just programmed all the stuff.
a genius
Love the synth work, but constant cutting back in forth between two angles makes this video barely watchable. Head hurts.
Sorry about that
