I totally agree with your points. This is the best version of the Khaki Field IMO. I love how the Day-Date window does not cut off any numerals including the 3!
I've had this same Hamilton Khaki Field Model H70535031 since it's release in 2018, mine came on a two piece camo strap, this model is overlooked especially considering how popular the Khaki Field mechanical 38mm is, this really is an auto bigger brother aesthetically, I mostly have mine on an olive green NATO strap since it works so well with the watch and it's been solid, extremely accurate and the look is what I wanted in a field watch, it's understated with it's full brushed case and matte dial layout that pulls so much of it's design from the Hamilton field watches of the past, enjoy it, it's a cool piece for sure.
42mm for my larger than average wrist. The day date complication simplifies my life, plus the 80hr power reserve makes this piece the PERFECT field watch.
I’ve had a 38mm Citizen Garrison day date for 5 years. Never missed a beat. Gave my Rolex Datejust to my son, sold a classic Omega Flightmaster 10 years ago. Citizen is my solo for the next 20 years, or until the apocalypse
I've had my Mechanical Hamilton for over 15 years now and i still love it, i love i have to wind it up every morning, i feel more connected to the watch. sad part is i have all the department store brands except Citizen, i got rid of all of them, i got a new chronograph that fogged up and took a shit on me. so i gave all my Citizen away. back to the sad part, i just wear the Hamilton really. lol. thanks for the video, i know how they take to make and edit.
I just purchased my first Hamilton. I picked up a Khaki Aviation. Out of the 20 watches I own its definitely one of my favorites. Top 3 for sure. Maybe I should have bought one sooner too.
I actually purchased the same watch as you from the exact same place and I received the same packaging as you. Zipper case with a warranty card. But my watch came with the two piece camo strap.
I have the Hamilton khaki king in black however, I purchased mine on bracelet. I also have that leather strap, and I think you might be surprised once you break it in… I know I was. You really made a mistake though… The bracelet is phenomenal and one of the most comfortable and well finished bracelets, making it one of the most comfortable watches in my collection of over 100. You can never go wrong with a Hamilton, IMO. I have Four. Models from the brand, and I’m always on the lookout to add another… Congratulations on a great purchase! Ps…. There is NO Antireflective coating on any of your Hamilton’s… And quite frankly the lume ALWAYS stink. Even if they start out, relatively bright, it fades quickly…. Still my favorite field watch brand.
That is an amazing watch. I probably have too many field watches now though 😂 I have the black dial hammy auto with the date complication, I have 2 seiko srpg field watches day/date complication (black and green dial) and very soon I’m acquiring the khaki field hand wound white dial time only. I thought it was the perfect watch for a vacation where all you have to worry about is winding it yourself. Who cares what day of the week it is while on vacay 😌
enjoyed the video but the volume was so low i could hardly hear it. ps i own the Hamilton Khaki Field titanium auto 38mm black dial and wear it on the orchard everyday and i love it
i bought this watch last week, but i noticed when the minute hand lands on the 12 the hour hand lags behind a few minutes. is this normal? or is something off? usually when it starts a new hour the minute hand is precisely on the 12 and the hour hand is precisely on the hour its supposed to be on.
I made the mistake of getting a $450 tossot from joma shop through the mail with a date complication. After the age of 40 you need reading glasses to see those dates. I don't get complications no more through the mail unless I could see the watch on me and I could see if I could see the complication I don't bother getting it. The magnifier on rolexes is the trick.
@All The Gear I'm also super into that watch. I'm a sucker for a 12 o'clock day and 6 o'clock date. I feel like it enhances the symmetry. So of course it's discontinued. You can get the same idea with the H70505833, but I feel like the proportions are thrown off. I briefly owned one, but a 42mm field watch felt too big. So I own two Hamilton day/dates: my Khaki King and my Pilot/day/date (the Cooper.) They make a marvelous pair. But I would love to round it out with an old Navy Scuba.
yes you did, a watch cant take us into the past or future. I have far too many watches and always end up wearing one of my Casio watches. Time updated by the atomic clock, illuminated face, alarms, day and date, solar powered. About as good as a watch gets.
There are so many great watches that can be bought for less than $1000 dollars. I, however, never bought any of them. I have a Citizen Promaster and an Orient Maestro, and I mostly end up wearing the first one because it's an Eco-Drive.
I have several solar powered watches in my collection which include the Citizen Eco Drive AT which has perpetual calendar and is solar powered and is radio controlled. I also own two Casio 5610's which has the same features. I have a Hamilton Khaki King field watch but is the day/date version which I enjoy wearing. Another solar powered field watch I own is a Seiko not that dissimilar to your Hamilton you have reviewed here except for the case. A really good watch which I wear the most often
Too big. I don't like a dinner plate on my wrist. In fact it looks like the earlier Seiko 5 field watch I never wear. I have the 38mm Hamilton which I wear a lot.
I’m glad you brought up the Shipping travesty. I recently purchased a watch by a different manufacturer. Like with your watch, they shipped the watch in a manufactured beautiful holder, but it was sloppily put in a shipping box, with barely any cushion ie packing. I actually sent the watch back. Then they sent another one, with even worse packing, I sent it back, and because of the shipping I will not order that watch. So although these manufacturers might save a few Pennie’s on shipping , they lost a sell. A watch to me would be like shipping glassware. What’s wrong with people?
The Khaki Mechanical is a lovely looking watch but they need to do better than 5 bar water resistance. Staying true to the watch’s heritage is one thing but let’s not pretend this watch belongs in the field, unless that field is a desert.
Exactly. I swap the field watch out for one of my dive watches when playing in the water. Just like I trade shoes to go running, hiking or out to a fancy dinner.
@@jakebooker3040 I understand you could simply switch watches but that’s not the point. A watch you can’t wear in the rain or submerge for any length of time is a dress watch or a field watch in name only. It’s a nice collectors piece but I wouldn’t trust it in the field over a $50 G-Shock, but I may wear it to dinner.
@@OmegaProxy truth! I wear it because I like how it looks. If it had a screw down crown and some sort of water resistance I would wear it all the time. I wore one of my Seiko divers kayaking last fall and didn’t realize the crown was unscrewed. I spent a couple of weeks waiting for the crystal to fog or the movement to freeze. Luckily it was ok because I had been rolling my kayak and it had been submerged in salt water. I wouldn’t trust the poor water resistance of any of my Hamiltons to kayak with.
Screw down crown doesn't increase water resistance. It just prevents the crown from popping out while under water. A field watch does not need a screw down crown. It's FIELD watch, not a diver.

This watch has been on my radar for a while. Thanks for this review!
I have to admit I have ignored all my other watches for the last two weeks.

nice video thanks. I have never had the plastic case presentation before. Always a cardboard wood box , even on my KFM.
No is my answer. Had you started with this watch, you would have missed the journey, and we are all together because of the journey.
I do enjoy the collection!

Nice review, got the same love for day-date. Don’t want to fuel the addiction but sinn 104 is another great option
Agreed, the Sinn 104 A ST is outstanding! I appreciate the numerals on a dive watch. I also like the Marathon JDD.
Nice review! "Don't tell my wife please" 😆
These Hamilton's are very clean
I bought my khaki mechanical from Amazon, got the old box. I bought a new Khaki automatic and it came in the “new” packaging
enjoyed the video but the volume was so low i could hardly hear it. ps i own the Hamilton Khaki Field titanium auto 38mm black dial and wear it on the orchard everyday and i love it
Does the strap company you mentioned make any straps for larger wrists, around 8.3 inch wrist?
Yes they do! I’ve got a large wrist and they custom made it for me.
I also have large wrists and have a hard time finding bands large enough to fit. Any other suggestions of brands that make nice looking bands??
If you are looking at canvas straps I think Red Rock Canvas Straps on Etsy are brilliant. The strap is custom made and worth the money.

@@xrpwatts2116 I double checked mine and the hour hand and minute hand are aligned. Check to make sure it aligns at 12:00.
@@jakebooker3040 I turned it back in for recalibration from the watch shop that sold it to me. Has a 2 year warranty on it.
My purchase...same company, same packaging, same watch, same zipper case. As you mentioned I also wonder why the difference?
I sent a Hamilton back to the official service center and it was returned in a zipper case similar to the one in the video.

the watch is beautiful however it's kinda big. Field watches is superb at 36mm or 37mm
Have you considered the Khaki King? It seems to check off all of the boxes you mention. I have the champagne dial one and I adore it.
I have not looked at the Khaki King yet, but I was just looking at the older version of the Hamilton Khaki SCUBA Navy, numerals AND a bezel!
@All The Gear I'm also super into that watch. I'm a sucker for a 12 o'clock day and 6 o'clock date. I feel like it enhances the symmetry. So of course it's discontinued.

yes
👍
Looks like a 70s timex
Timex, takes a licking and keeps on ticking!
It’s a beautiful watch however without a screw down crown I don’t consider it much of a “field watch”

Volume too low!
you could always sell it to me 😈
Hahaha I’ll keep ‘em.
Yes. Buying a Hamilton is a waste of money. There are many better for less money. Atlas Momentum Automatic is just one example.
Atlas? Now THAT is a true waste of money.
Hate the date
