The lady in the sandwich shop with me was talking in Spanish on the phone and for whatever reason his name came up and it stuck with me. My Spanish is pretty shitty but I think she had seen a movie with him in with her boyfriend recently. Hola from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
I would fucking love a COG on Superhero movie. It’s been like a decade since I last watched it but I remember it being genuinely funny and clever. On an unrelated note, a decade ago I was 12
And they were awful back then. Completely boring and over serious and literally the worst parts of the new films Is vin diesel’s overly dramatic story whilst everyone else races submarines
Parody movies haven't worked for at least 40 years. Even as a kid I knew that Airplane was a terrible flick, but I think the enjoyment I got out of it was watching my folks laugh at it like it was the funniest thing ever. Seriously, Airplane is awful, and that's the best one out there.
Actually: they didn’t write Scary movie. They just wrote a draft on par with the shovel ware they produce now, and the studio purchased it so they could shelve that script and actually make a good film
The actor that played the Vin Diesel type was so goddamned good in Barry. I'm former military and worked with a lot of Marines in my time. That guy is the quintessential Marine. Just a fucking insane shock trooper with no thoughts, head empty. There has never been a better performance of what a meat head marine looks like. The Marines is basically a bunch of dudes who buy in to the notion that they ARE a rifle mixed in with dudes that understand that that was supposed to be a metaphor. Hence Barry and Chris vs Taylor and Vaughn. Nobody is terribly sharp in the bunch but one makes plans and the other yells Leroy Jenkins in a life or death scenario.
Pretty sure 9 million each went to the writer guys. About 1.8 million was mostly the cocaine budget, roughly 200k covered the actual production, salaries for actors and crew etc etc
I just want to say that Friedberg and Seltzer did NOT write the first Scary Movie, as you say. They WERE credited as writers on it, but it was them and four other people. The Wayans brothers were definitely the primary creative minds behind that movie, and I think it's been basically said outright at this point by the people behind that movie that Friedberg and Seltzer really didn't have much hand in what the final product ended up being. But they used that "clout" to market themselves as "two of the six writers of Scary Movie" for Date Movie and several others that they made. I know this is all coming off as incredibly nitpicky, but I just can't abide those two hacks being given more credit than they deserve in any context.
The character doing Keanu is deeper than most people realize. Fast and Furious was a rip off of Point Break down to the director instructing Paul to mimic Keanus character in that movie.
also only got a writer's credit on Scary Movie 1 solely due to the fact they were writing a different Scream parody for the same studio at the time the Wayans pitched their obviously superior idea.
Parody just means "thing that isn't what you'd expect that is vaguely based off something from the actual movie" according to Fried Burg and Alka Seltzer
Holy shit, John Wick only cost $20M? And that's including Keanu Reeves's salary? That's some bang for your buck right there, if you'll pardon the expression.

If I remember correctly Keanu agreed a reduced fee because he is good friends with Chad Stahelski and really wanted to do the film, similar to how Bruce Willis took a massive pay cut from what he got in Die Hard to be in Pulp Fiction.
Can't you imagine that if Leni Riefenstahl had made a movie about the decadent Hollywood film industry, she might have named the lead characters, Seltzer & Friedberg?
I’ve always wanted to make a parody of these movies called “Funny Movie.” Every joke is an elaborate, rambling, incoherent set up and the punch line is ‘penis!’
(8:44) There was and idea, called the avengers initiative, the idea was to see if we could bring together a group of remarkable people, to see if they could become something more. To see if they could work together when we needed them to, to fight the battles that we never could. Phil Coulson died still believing in that idea. In heroes...
You know damn well that there was some sort of money laundering or embezzlement type stuff going on when you hear this film cost 20 million to produce...
Dude.... I'm watching this very VERY late at night while finishing up an essay. The throwaway reference in the editing to Game Grumps' "Does Bruno Mars is Gay?" made me fucking guffaw! It's officially a crossover episode with my two fave RUclips duos
If your interested in watching another parody movie, "Not Another Teen Movie" would be a good one to watch. It's pretty entertaining. It parodies such movies as American Pie and She's All That.
The funny thing about the ending where they run over the bad guy is that that's the same joke from there beginning of scary movie and an alternate ending (?) from scary movie 2
Superhero Movie is actually one of the better parody movies out there. It stays mostly focused on the movie they're parodying (Spider-Man 1), and does a good job parodying specific scenes from the movie.
"The Paul Walker guy is doing a Keanu" This might be a deliberate commentary on the story of the first Fast movie being exactly the story of Point Break.
Finding out this movie has the SAME budget as JOHN WICK was a revelation I was not prepared for at all holy shit.
It doesn't surprise me. The actual Fast and Furious movies have an insane budget. I guess this type of movie requires a lot of investment

This guys is both dio from jojo and muscular funny rock man
“You thought it was The Rock but IT WAS ME DIO!” - him probably
Is that his real real name or a stage name he made for his Dwayne-Johnson-esque parody character?
This movie was amazing. It’s bad, but the actors are having so much fun with the bullshit that it becomes endearing to watch.
Agreed. I love this movie
I watched this movie high as hell with my roomate, it was so bad it's good
It was intentionally bad. That's what made it so good
I can't believe they glossed over the fact that the vin diesel character caught bullets with his mouth and shot them by spitting, made me laugh.
