Must watch his performance of Riviera Paradise, live in Austin!!! Stevie wrote it as an expression of love, healing, compassion and forgiveness after he successfully beat his addiction to drugs and alcohol. It's entirely instrumental and a true masterpiece. Even though the performance was 34 years ago, you can feel every ounce of Stevie's heart, soul and presence living on.

He literally "channels" the music thru him.... it's otherworldly..... PLEASE keep on going down the SRV rabbit hole..... he's one of those people that one can say *UNEQUIVOCALLY* that he did *EXACTLY* what he was placed on this earth for...... Cheers Deb......:)

SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness
Who else rolls outta bed still bombed from the night before, dressed like a pimp no less, and then kills it like he's performing a live concert? The Cat in The Hat with The Strat, that's who. 😅
More "feeling it" vids? Well, that would mean you'd need to watch every one of his vids. 😉
For a much better version of the 2nd song he played in this vid:

This video always amazes me. Do you think he had coffee before that mini concert called a soundcheck? Double Trouble turns on like a light switch, and Stevie goes from zero to a thousand in a nano second. And your jaw drops as always because he's just so dam incredible. He sang, 'Ain't gone n give up on love', long title. You didn't know the words but you were hangin on every one, lol. I've requested that song from the Capital Theatre, hope you can squeeze it in your schedule. Your reactions are so on point with my own, in that he puts everything inside into the music, and it shows on his face. For a little while after waking, some faces look pure and surreal. I see that here. ☮️

    • @jackscott5593

I just love him too and I listen and watch everyday to feel complete💙🎸🎶. You fell like a stone in this most fabulous rabbit hole and I have enjoyed your journey of discovery. It is obvious even to the casual observer he plays with his heart and soul, but that description leaves out the fact he plays with every fiber of his being, every cell in his body come into play to produce that music. He is a wonder to behold and I am only more in awe each time I watch no matter how many times. For more feels and more Reece, once again begging for Riveria Paradise, Austin City Limits 1989 which will absolutely transfix you and Aint Gone 'N' Give Up On Love another song by Stevie that is bluesy, sensual (without him trying to be) and guitar solo🔥🔥🔥 hot💯

Hope you consider one seldom reacted to which is "Wall of Denial". There aren't many good live videos of it here on YT, but the Live at Late Night with Letterman is probably the best, though very grainy. Others seldom reacted to are "Riviera Paradise" from the Austin 1989 show and "Willie the Wimp" from the Midtfyns Festival 1988. Hope you get to them all eventually as I know we'll all enjoy them together.

"Shoving the guitar strings up..." It's called bending & Stevie bends 2-3-4 at a time & yes they are heavy guage strings. A young John Mayer commented that he could play with that setup & intensity for about 20 seconds then his arm would cramp up...ruclips.net/video/h-PxHXdsM7I/видео.html...An older John Mayer inducting Stevie into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame...ruclips.net/video/awx8ztx3qeg/видео.html...Stevie was THE GUITAR HERO & I am so excited that you found him...He revived the Blues & inspired a whole new generation of Blues Players along with bringing attention to those who came before him...BB King, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Johnny Copeland, just to mention a few of his Idols as he was growing & he just loved playing with them!

A guitar tech is a roadie who knows how the performer likes his sound to be set up. He knows what every amp and pedal is supposed to be set at. He re-tunes the guitars when the performer swaps them out between songs and will usually do the final sound check the day of the show. Between shows the tech makes sure the guitar and the equipment are all safe and sound. In this case, SRV's guitar tech looked a bit like gross-yet-popular adult film star Ron Jeremy, so the caption was assuring us that it wasn't him . . . thankfully.

Not an alien, though it's easy to say that he might be. Just a man who somehow intrinsically understood what the blues was all about. In most music, the instruments are just an accompinent to the the lyrics...but with the blues it's exactly the opposite. In many cases, the lyrics are superfluous...it is about evoking emotion, and doing so with the instruments. That is why, imho, Stevie is and always will be the GOAT. Other guitar players may be "technically" more proficient (and that is very debatable), but none of them achieve what Stevie does with his playing...raw emotion. He sings with his guitar. Period. Who else does or ever did that?

You'd think that this, being a "sound check", SOMEONE would have bumped up the volume on his mike during the first song he sang!

I'd pay full modern day ticket prices just to get in and see this sound check in person. Sigh...

There's a Japanese trio called Asterism. They're young but ultra-skilled. When the guitarist was just 16, the band did a mini tour of the US and played a few gigs in Texas. For those Texas gigs, the band would always cover SRV's "Scuttle Buttin'" - the first song they play in this sound check - and put their own spin on it. It's the best SRV cover I've seen; that girl plays it like it's nothing. Here's the link.
