No-there was this interview with Emilia and one of D&D…where she said that she had not seen the episode where she burns King’s Landing (because the vfx really tell the story there) and she had a watch party arranged for it.
She described how shocked she felt and how she now had to explain to all of these fans who wanted answers. She said that she felt a little bit like an idiot and then the director had the guts to say something along the lines of “Yeah Emilia, we did wonder why you threw a party at all.”
This implies that she was was not only kept in the dark about the burning of King’s Landing, but also gaslighted into saying nothing.

To be fair, David Benioff is a great author. He wrote City Of Thieves, which is one of my all time favorite novels. I have no idea as to what the fuck happened these last three seasons.

Everything... EVERYTHING was telegraphed from the beginning. Get upset if the characters didn't end how you wanted in the normal 'Sad to see you go' way, get upset they crammed it all into 6 episodes, but stop crying about Dany and Arya. They've been heavily hinting at what would happen for 8 years. You want fan service? Watch a Chuck Lorre show... or Batwoman.

We love you all, you all played the parts brilliant despite the writing of season 8. Season 8 was not great but we can't blame these wonderful people for that. Season 8 still had some great bits, but it kinda threw season 1-7 out of the window lol.

I seriously don't get what was the point of the Night King. They hyped him up for 7 season and he didn't do anything lmao. In fact, nothing in seasons 2-7 meant anything in the end. They could have jumped from Dany hatching dragons to her attacking King' Landing.

Totally agree! Some theories explain that this revelation is one of reasons that Dany went the madqueen but I am not convinced. It was botched. 😭
Ro the point is jon had to make a choice in the end also that despite all of his titles and such the freefolk accept him for who he is and he saved them he is the prince who was promised who killed daenerys and banished what could have been a new era of darkness, hes able to have the name and the rest but hes still jon so he is now accepting that even though he has this royal blood hes not greedy for power and he can live with what he has unlike most of the people in the show

@@lilypondlane I highly doubt the wall got built, but taking the kingsroad back to black watch would probably be easier then trekking snow all across the wall to the huge gap in it. As for where he went, my best guess is Jon simply helped the free men rebuild their homes across the wall, since no one needs to man said walls anymore.

When Emilia described doing take after take of the last scene, it really hurt when she said it wore off. In all of the BTS stuff for Return of the King, the emotion over the last few takes was immense, no one wanted to just say "Ok bye!" like Emilia said.

All I'm gonna say is that the ending made me sad and kind of depressed... it was the logical conclusion, but the magic all died. I think that is what was meant when Tyrion and Jon discuss how Duty is the end of love. This makes me think back to ancient stories of heroes and the idea of destiny, justice and meaning. A part of me now realizes that even though those stories may not be 'realistic', there is something in the human soul that yearns for them and needs them. Going back to the earlier seasons, as Dany was uncovering her powers, foreshadowing great victories to come in epic scenes with epic music playing in the background... and it was all for nothing. It was all a lie. She dies without a fight at the hands of someone she trusted and loved, then they all go their separate ways. There is just something so... heartbreaking about that. It wasn't just Daenerys that died, it was the whole sense of purpose and inspiration to the story. I suspect this was the intention behind the writing, but I walk away from all of this with a sense that there probably will be more conflict and intrigue in the future, but I just don't care about any of it anymore.The 'game of thrones' is finally revealed for what it truly is; a meaningless squabble for power.
Right! Also jon killing dany reminded me of Maester Aemon's speech about love being the greatest glory and greatest downfall. The ending truly was bittersweet. Now Jon is filling in the shoes of Maester Aemon, the other Targaryen who would have been king but chose not to rule.
“Logical conclusion, magic died.” Yes, the magic died with the night king. I got more emotional with the end of futurama than GOT.
It was likely GRRM's intention to deconstruct our universal myths, but the showrunners failed to go through with it. If realism is the ultimate plot point, they sure didn't make a point of sticking to it and making it believable the final season. And they chose to end on a fake high note when by the standards of "realism" Westeros would have descended into complete anarchy at the end. There is no way Dany's army would just walk off. There is no way a cripple king without any claim to the throne could keep the peace in a feudal society. There is no way the other kingdoms would let the North go alone without bringing their own ambitions to bear. I can applaud the intention of subverting tropes, but if they didn't want to stick to the tropes, they should have had the guts to really see it through. This way it's just a lose-lose scenario that neither closes the narrative in the fashion of a story nor really drives the point home that history is a never-ending story.

Sometimes the expected ending is the right ending. Jon Snow should have been king. No one wanted to see Bran Stark on the throne. And Jon got so fucked it’s soooo bad. Im personally happy for the way it ended. It wasnt how we wanted it to end, but atleast there was at last PEACE. 8 seasons has been filled with exciting, heat-breaking wars and challenges so the ending gave balance and justice. It was always what we were aiming for.
Nikolaj and Gwendoline struggle, Maisie and Sophie pivot and make their answer about their experience as actors rather than their characters, Conleth stays quiet, Liam basically shuts down the question, Jacob, Emilia and Nathalie laugh uncomfortably and Peter is just ice cold. TBH, Carice, Isaac and John are the only ones who actually seem pleased with answering the question.
What’s the point of Jon being a Targaryen

Season 8 is a nightmare
Not gonna lie the finale was a bust. Now GOT will be one of those shows that was great but sucked at the end.
the producers "god bored" and wanted to move on to star wars, HBO offered them more seasons, more episodes per season and they both just said.....nah....and ended it like this
If they genuinely got fed up with the genre (which I seriously can’t blame them for, the show has been running for years) they should’ve passed it to a writer that cared and wanted it to be great. They ruined it for everyone.

Yeah.. That kindergarten ending they gave us just feels fake. All the emerging conflicts resolved in last 15 min of the show. (talking about Greyworm vs Jon and Tyrion, Dothraki and Unsullied still faithful to the Queen vs Northerners, Sansa vs 6 kingdoms etc.)
