Frank Overton and Edward Binns both were in Fail Safe(1964). Overton(one of the greatest deadpan actors) was the SAC commander and Binns was the pilot that bombed Moscow. This show had some great guest stars.

Nah, I thought the ending was perfect. Indeed, the whole episode was great because Turner never gives a hint that he's lying, so you never know if he's telling the truth or a great actor. It also presents a ton of ethical dilemmas, which I always love in a TV show or movie. The death of Moran also points out that one should never make certainty assumptions based on strong coincidences. Brilliant writing and acting all around.

Yes, this is a continuity editor's nightmare. Messerschmidt "FWs," engines that magically run then don't then run. At least there was one scene with #2 only out after 3 restarted. Binge watching makes it worse. At least on a weekly schedule you might forget some of the combat cuts. But it is amazing the authentic footage that gets used.

At 34::11 they show ME109's (rotary engine pointed nose) but at 34:16 :the gunner announces FW's all over....(radial engine squaris nose). I guess they had to use what ever footage they could find but the script writer shouldve known.
I thot I had seen a WW on the fuselage.. At 31:49. WW indicates a plane that had seen a L O T of combat missions and had been shot up and repaired MANY times. "War Weary" The planes used for this TV series surely were used aircraft!! PS a 34:12 thpose are 109's not FW's LOL
In this case the WW is the squadron code, not an indication that it is war weary. If it was marked war weary it would have the WW stenciled on the vertical stabilizer under the serial number. The WW code indicates that the aircraft is assigned to the 306th Bomb Group, 369th Bomb Squadron.
The B-17 Savage flies is actually the 2nd "Piccadilly Lilly." This plane never saw real combat. The first, and real, version did and was shot down over Bremerhaven Germany in 1943.
If an ACTUAL person in the Army saluted the way these Hollywood people did, they would be in deep doodoo. It is a salute not a "tomahawk" form the middle of the forehead.
My uncle was a GI a medic, he hit the beach on D Day and went all the way to Poland with Patton. He got home and wow he smoked a LOT, lit up one after the other. As soon as he woke up, he put a cigarette in his mouth. Smoked Lucky Strikes, he said he didn't want to be bothered with those damn filter cigarettes.😧
