Toledo is the only city in Europe that preserves its medieval cobblestones intact in some streets, being able to walk on stones that have been there for more than 1,000 years. It's one of the few cities in the world that has its entire historic center declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Greetings froms Toledo, Spain.
Medieval cobblestone roads you find in many places in Austria and Germany. The whole town of Hall in Tirol, Austria for instance has only cobblestone roads inside the old city walls. Same goes for many East German towns, which in the time after World War II simply lacked the money to replace their cobblestone roads with tarmac, and today, they value the fact that they still have their medieval road network intact.
As I lived more than 10 years in Germany, I miss this country greatly. And seeing Prag, all good memories come back:) Thank you sooo much Ryan for this great video, as always:)
You should explore Aachen and Monschau. Beautiful cities! Aachen has a long history of thermal water, the cathedral, charming old town. Monschau is just a few km away, you can say the entrance to the Eifel region. Really cute, especially in winter, when we hopefully have christmas markets again. But Germany is so big and has do much to offer (Nordsee, Ostfriesland, Ostsee, Lüneburger Heide, Sächsische Schweiz, Schwarzwald...so many great cities like Weimar, Köln, Berlin, München, Hamburg and so, so many more...)
Thanks man! I remember when you showed me your shot you got of Mont Saint Michel when you sent it in the rain. Hopefully we can get back in Europe this summer!
