      And India has nice buildings too. The problem is that the british invaded, conquered, facilitated the creation of slums and stole too much indian wealth, And that´s a problem in the entiere places that were colonised by europeans and the arabs..

      Joemontana G Europe is certainly the best place to live on earth. If you value human rights, standard of living, workers rights, food quality, personal safety, everything. The cities are living museums full of art and sculptures and amazing architecture. Europe sets the standard for quality in everything. Other places are great too but mostly all Europe is another level compared to the rest of the world. Whatever Europe does usually the rest of the world tries to do the same.

I grew up in Doesburg in the Netherlands, a beautiful Medieval city (almost 800 years ago it received its city rights), which could definitely be on this list. things can change in a generation

    • @Uchihaayoub
      @Uchihaayoub 4 года назад

      The earliest signs of a process leading to sedentary culture can be seen in the Levant to as early as 12,000 BC, when the Natufian culture became sedentary; it evolved into an agricultural society by 10,000 BC.[9] The importance of water to safeguard an abundant and stable food supply, due to favourable conditions for hunting, fishing and gathering resources including cereals, provided an initial wide spectrum economy that triggered the creation of permanent villages.[10]
      The earliest proto-urban settlements with several thousand inhabitants emerged in the Neolithic. The first cities to house several tens of thousands were Memphis and Uruk, by the 31st century BC (see Historical urban community sizes).
      Historic times are marked apart from prehistoric times when "records of the past begin to be kept for the benefit of future generations";[11] which may be in written or oral form. If the rise of civilization is taken to coincide with the development of writing out of proto-writing, the Near Eastern Chalcolithic, the transitional period between the Neolithic and the Bronze Age during the 4th millennium BC, and the development of proto-writing in Harappa in the Indus Valley of South Asia around 3300 BC are the earliest incidences, followed by Chinese proto-writing evolving into the oracle bone script, and again by the emergence of Mesoamerican writing systems from about 900 BC.

    There are many many towns that could be on this list and that could replace any of the excising ones. Sighișoara in Romania, Chester in England, Lucca in Italy, Visby on the Swedish island of Gotland. The list could probably be a thousand cities long but Sienna is however a good choice for number one for its size, it’s accessibility and it’s touristy properties. @@markoshea6833 How does that work? If we didn't respect eachothers differences, there'd be mass separatism within the EU. Catalans want independence from Spain because they feel they are culturally and linguistically different (as well as economic reasons); same for Galicia, Basque; and Flanders where I'm from, where the Flemish have to learn French, yet the Walloons don't - and many other inequalities due to lingual differences like an unequal voting system. Trust me I grew up in that type of environment, I know how it works. Even more, I don't feel like Belgium is a state that should exist, yet I'm pro-European. If you don't respect Europe's diversity, the people of Europe won't respect you; try to then keep them all together. Within the EU it is of utmost importance to preserve European heritage, which includes lingual and cultural diversity. "Historically" these differences weren't always respected, but the historical climate was also completely different.

    I have only been to York and I loved it. I was supposed to have been on a Baltic cruise (which was cancelled) in May and we would have stopped at Tallin. It'll probably be two years before we can try again. Fingers crossed we get through this pandemic.

    Of course, this kind of limited list may only be slammed for not including such town or another one. On my side I just wonder that, among the Romanian ancient towns, they chose Brașov, in place of Cluj or Sibiu, but more especially in place of the little medieval pearl that is Sighișoara.

      "Romanian ancient towns"? Show me one! All mentioned are the heritage of Hungary, built by Hungarians and/or Saxons in the Kingdom of Hungary. Are there anything outside Transylvania (that is the heritage of Hungary) that you could show off? Borrowed eggs is what you have.

      @@eberhardwaltz9043 Fact that a part of actual Romania was Hungarian during certain periods doesn't make you right. Cluj, Sibiu, Brasov are in Transylvania and always were. And, sorry, but Transylvania was never completely a part of Hungary. This is very clear on this gif in the Wikipedia (French) article: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/89/AnimatieGraniteRomania_1859-2010.gif
      After that, I'm pretty sure out of the official moving frontline, populations were more or less mixed, especially in cities, most of the time.

    If killing innocent people wasn't enough to discourage war, just think of all the beautiful architecture that's been lost due to mans insatiable greed for power and control.
    This is our history and when destroyed by parasitic war criminals it leaves a emptiness which can not be replaced. When one travels the path of our ancestors, be it a cobblestone road or a granite staircase, it's that wonderment of who was here before walking this path or climbing these stairs. It's a special feeling and one that cannot simply be described, but needs to come from your heart and mind . All are magnificent, but Bruggs is special for me....the place , yes , but especially the folks ...I realized I had been born into the wrong era minutes after arriving in Bruggs. Been looking for a time machine ever since I departed .

    I guess this video should be at least 120mins long, so it can meet the expectations of all Europeans :D
    As a Bulgarian, I can recommend Nessebar(simply unbelievable-some of the buildings there are 1500years old) and Veliko Tarnovo(The capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire)

    Nice to see some spanish cities in this list. Also, if you have the opportunity of visiting Spain, don't miss Ávila. I think is one of the lesser known examples of medieval city for the foreigners (and even for spaniards), but it has the best preserved and most complete medieval defensive walls in all Spain, and it also have very special churches. Also, we cannot forget the islamic medieval architecture and urbanism in Spain with amazing examples as Granada and Córdoba. Worth the visit!
