    Nice review ;) I have had DK2 since last summer. I'm really happy with it, and the support from Sigma Integrale are the best I have experienced. They genuinely want you to be a happy customer, and I am. I run iRacing only and use VR. I have my settings quite low with no smoothing. It brings the immersion to the next level, and makes even a test drive alone on the track fun. I don't have the clicking noise showed in this video. It is not dead silent, but it is not a problem at all in my opinion.

      Hi Steffen, just got my DK2 and ran a "tuning" session. i also use VR and i have to dial the settings down quite a bit, otherwise i can't see a thing because of the shaking of the headset ;-) can you share your settings ? what i am missing a little bit is the "environment". Meaning i am not feeling it in the stomach when driving over a hill... also i think the road vibrations is extremely intense compared to the other settings, so ihad to dial them all the way down to 1. really courious what your experience is in that regard.

      @@diegostalder9663 Hi Diego. Cool! What sim do you use? I only use iRacing, so I'm not sure if the settings will work the same way in other sims. My settings is. Gas/Brake Pitch:3, Turning Roll:1, Heave:5, Environment:2, Road Vibration:4, Engine vibration i put to 10 and 0/100. (sometimes in race I put it to 0 to feel the road much as possible.) This I know can very because of different rig and weight. I use a HP reverb G2 with trackers on the headset, so big movement can influence the tracking a bit. So I like small movements, but big movements don't give me anything. I want to feel the car. What headset and rig do you use? About the shaking of the headset. I also felt that first time I tried it, but its not a problem for me at the moment. Try to be more relaxed in your neck and absorb some of the vibration. You should join the community for Sigma on discord and Facebook. Many users can help you with the tuning. Im sure you will be happy with the DK2 when you tune it right and get used to it ;)

      @@diegostalder9663 I also have had a look at Varjo Aero. It looks awesome. Have you mounted the basestation on the rig or in the room? I would guess you would have less problems with big movements if the basestation was mounted and moved together with the rig. But I have not tried it myself. My G2 have camera trackers and no basestartion, so big movement would effect tracking for me.

    Good review of a very good system! Had mine since oct/nov, used it 100`s of hours without any issues.
    I never run my smoothing above 2 in any layer, normally 1 or 0 as it is so effective even at low levels and easily dampens road surface and lower rumble strips etc.. Race cars are`nt comfortable ;)
    As for intensity, i normally run pitch at 3, roll at 2, and the rest at 4-5.
    Never had those ticking sounds in mine though, mine`s smooth as they can be.

    • @netlawman2001

      I think it’s all about the money. Dbox is low volume, so they would rather review the stuff that a whole bunch of people will run out and buy for a few hundred bucks each (probably a better kickback for the cheaper stuff). Sadly, if they have no plans to review, they should just stay silent on it from the beginning. It’s a bit weird at this point.

      The Dbox review will happen soon. We had planned on doing it end of last year but then our studio flooded and we’ve been playing catch up since. Dbox just had a major software update too so we held off for a while for that also.

      @@boostedmedia totally get it, but you have also reviewed plenty of things that have been released “since”. Doesn’t seem like there is much of a driving experience difference in the new SW, as it seems the new functionality is tailored to supporting games with no telemetry and tying in their dbox connect service.
      Looking forward to your review, but let’s be transparent - the delay has been largely voluntary deprioritization 😄. That’s OK, it’s just that some people may be waiting for your review to purchase and so they deserve more than “coming soon” month after month for almost 8 months. If you are not going to review for a number of months, just call it out. For example: “dbox review coming in August ‘22”

    I use my D-box system only at 72% it does not make you faster but it is just pure fun, the rise of the rig on one side when you drive up a curbstone in combination with the vibration adds to the immersion especially in combination with VR.
    I have had all three combination screens not moving, screens moving and VR.
    Screens not moving does not work it gives a weird feeling when you brake and move closer to your screens.

    Thanks for another great review!
    Couple things I noticed that I thought I'd comment on. First, for *anyone who doesn't have a free Ethernet port,* rather than purchasing a USB→Ethernet adapter for about the same money ($15-20USD) you can pickup a PCIE Ethernet card. Which, assuming the computer is at least PCIE 3.0 (can't imagine _any_ sim titles running on anything older, not to mention if you can afford this kit... ;) ) you can use a 1x slot (could even get away with a dual Gigabit Ethernet port card and be okay.) If USB must be used for whatever reason, I'd highly recommend making sure it's USB 3minimum. While I doubt this system will nearing gigabit speeds, still better to have the head room (USB 2 is less then half Gigabit speed.)
    Secondly, the 'transformer' on the PCB inside the control box, is actually an AC/DC converter. Taking the mains voltage input, and outputting 5VDC 2A. There will likely be a small transformer inside but if that was all it was you'd still have an AC output and that microcontroller it's powering would not be a happy camper😉 Not super important, but thought I'd mention it.
    Anyways thanks again for another great video,
    Michael

      PCI-E 1.0 1x is enough for 2Gb speeds FYI. Looks like your confusing gigabit vs gigabyte. As far as static IP's on a switch, that will definitely normally work fine, and if some reason it doesn't that's a failure on Sigma Integrale's design.

    There are various reasons a system can display some lag, from the hardware down to the software and the users settings. When making diy sfx there are also areas where a user can get something wrong on hardware settings itself (dbox etx dont ask you to change servo driver paramaters). The servos used in the SFX system are fast and powerful enough that if everything is done right there shouldnt be lag thats perceptible compared to other systems.

    Hi Will, thank you so much for another awesome review. Actually I'm undecided between the sigma integrale or the Simrig sr2, which would be a lot cheaper but has no ability to simulate f.e. engine vibration as far as I know (or another option: no motion and saving the money 😆) how much impact does the vibration has regarding the immersion for you? Is it like 'nice to have' or 'essential', meaning without vibration / tactical Feedback there would be something 'missing' from your experience? Hi Will: have you thought about making a comparative and category classification of all the products and devices that you have tested? I mean a rating from 1 to 10 (with decimals) so that we can get a quick idea of the true level of all of them. In each tested item you would only have to include the classification at the end, so it would be available in all of them and looking at the video of the most recent one, we would have all the items available.
    For example: if I want to buy a steering wheel, I would only have to go to the video of the most recent steering wheel and at a quick glance I would see what the true level of all of them is. Then I could calmly go watch the video of the steering wheel that interests me and I would avoid having to watch 10 or 20 complete videos only to end up more confused than at the beginning.
    Or would that be too difficult for you?

    • @boostedmedia
      @boostedmedia  Год назад +2

      It’s an idea we’ve considered extensively, but so much of this is subjective it’s very hard to put a number on something. We thought about a points system but yeah. Not sure. It’s not off the cards though.

    • @aristotels_aristotals
      @aristotels_aristotals Год назад

      @@boostedmedia Yes, it is quite complicated (I know). Because as you indicate the process is all subjective. If they were complete kits it would be very easy: it would only be a matter of putting the times achieved on the same circuit.
      It would only be a reference for us anyway. Your opinion is better than going blind to the store. If the decimals are removed, it could be viable. It is only about establishing a first classification: very good, good, normal, bad and very bad. And then, within the result, better or worse. Automatically you have a grade from 1 to 10 almost effortlessly.

Making some brackets wouldn't be a problem to adapt to the the profile style mounting, more concerned about the possible flex and load on the main frame of the GT Track given only 4 supports vs 6?? What frequency does this run at? Is it 60hz for iRacing like their FFB telemetry? If you use irFFB does it run at 360hz? Great video as always, just looking for more info.

    • @boostedmedia
      @boostedmedia  2 года назад +2

      IRFFB only impacts DirectInput, not UDP telemetry so it has no impact on what the motion system sees as far as I’m aware.

    • @arthursigma1386
      @arthursigma1386 2 года назад +6

      For iRacing, the shared memory telemetry rate is 360 Hz, and that is what the DK motion system uses. This rate allows the road vibrations layer to be highly detailed. However, other game telemetries are still at 60 Hz, so we implemented an algorithm that artificially boosts the telemetry rate for these games. AC, ACC and R3E are games with a telemetry rate that is 300+ Hz. For all other motion layers (pitch layers, roll layers, heave and engine vibrations), 60 Hz is more than good enough.

      Common for all motion systems: it moves and vibrates a 150-200kg rig like it was 30kg, so any wood floor (like Tom mentioned in the review) will transfer vibrations. Turning off engine vibration, and adding smoothing helps alot if that`s an issue :)
