BEFORE YOU COMMENT: I understand the lyrics of these songs completely and fully. Being someone who has been through everything they talk about, it was easy for me to catch onto the lyrics. I focused more on the beat and melody because I thought it would be more fun than just saying "wow, they lyrics are sad" over and over again for every song. I already understand how powerful and meaningful they are to everyone. I'm also not "mainstream" and I'm not trying to join some "clique". This was a REQUESTED video so I did it. Blurryface is a character that Tyler Joseph (the singer) created that represents everything about himself that he doesn't like, his insecurities, fears, doubts, etc. If you watch any videos from this album, you'll also notice that he has black paint on his hands and neck and occasionally red contacts. These are physical representations of Blurryface, and his insecurities in things he creates. Josh Dun, the drummer, has red eye makeup to represent his own demons.

Blurryface kind of represents Tyler's insecurities. In stressed out, Tyler talks about his struggles and being forced to do things, and the pressure put on him, kind of showing how "Blurryface" is like what's telling him what to do, and making him Stressed Out.
Blurry face was originated as Tyler Joseph's (the lead singer) dark thoughts that tell him to do stuff he doesnt want to do and he mentioned blurryface in his past albums but this one was named blurryface because of how dark the lyrics are

no matter how many times ive heard all of their songs over and over i always get super excited every time they come on like i havent heard them in a long time i mean usually after listening to a singer/band for awhile ill get a little tired of listening to them for a bit but something about twenty one pilots is so different that i just never get bored of listening to them on repeat and im so glad that they are the band to make me feel that way and usually i dont always like every single song an artist puts out but i absolutely love all of their music

So the story behind Blurryface is that Tyler battles depression and he is really focused on his insecurities. Blurryface is the character that is Tylers depressed side of life and he uses that to get over his depression. He brings up Blurryface in a lot of interviews and he tells you what he means by Blurryface and if you watch you can tell that he gets very upset talking about that character in general. He has been doing a great job at handling Blurryface and he has been happier than ever. He states that the murder of Blurryface is because of him performing and expressing himself through his music which is now why Blurryface is under control and he is trying to kill him off now that he doesnt have as much power and that Tyler has most of it now. I hope that helps you out and that you can understand the story behind Blurryface.

Blurryface is Tylers "mind demon," or his insecurities. He paints his neck and hands black since those are his main insecurities. His voices and his creations. And the really low parts in a song, where he wears red eye contacts, that's Blurryface. Everyone can have a Blurryface, it's the voice in your head, saying "you're too fat." Or "you can't do that. Just give up." The discouraging part of your mind. There has been a rise and fall of the Blurryface Era. Tyler and Josh help each other with their blurryface. I love Twenty One Pilots so much, and it kills me to know they're sad because of their own mind 💞

The album has a ton of "sarcasm" throughout that you mentioned toward the end. I think more accurately, it's Meta, breaking the 4th wall, or simply self-aware art that the artist frequently alludes to said art from within said art :). Lane Boy, spends the first 2/3 trashing the constraints of "popular" music and talking about how they're different in that they don't adhere to them. All the while, sticking to those constraints. Then, with little warning, an ultra-chaotic dubstep bridge arrives to replace the reggae-ish drum and bass with ukelele before giving way back to the original groove, then a few moments of silence leads to an even more chaotic dance-heavy drum period without vocals and confirms everything they were saying, but not doing, in the first segment. That's just one example, but knowing pretty well how they operate, every single similar occurrence on the record was 100% intentional. If you have doubts, I suggest you have a look at the way they are guerrilla-crowd-source marketing their new album that is likely to be released within the next month or two. If you don't want to delve into Reddit, I think AltPress has a running article that sums it up pretty well. It's pretty nuts, in a genius, super-dramatic kind of way -- hey! that's probably a good description of their music :)

I would love love to see you react to Vessel from twenty one pilots. It is their first major public release aka first album under the label Fuled by Ramen and their third studio album. After you've listened to that you can check out their older stuff which is pure gold too! They have previously self released albums Twenty One Pilots (2009) and Regional at Best (2011) both so good. Basically every song you hear is something you'll love over time if you give them a chance. Just give songs another try maybe.. (lane boy didn't clicked to me at first too and it's now one of my favs) Also, most recent song is called Heathens and it is of Suicide Squad: the album. i'm really sorry for the rant here but i really think you'll enjoy... basically everything i guess. Like when I'm listening to most of the album, excluding some, I end up listening to the songs I didn't use to like and slowly got into them idk. I think I have to be in the mood for certain songs to really enjoy them too but regardless, tøp are one of my favourite bands because of their really different and diverse songs and I'm really looking forward to their next album to see what it will be like

Just like in the album Vessel, Twenty One pilots likes to make up an idea or character. They created a character named Blurryface, who they prefer to express throughout their album. Most of their songs lyrics or ideas explain the entire Blurryface character that they created. The black paint over their hands and neck also symbolize this character, over the neck shows a feeling of suffocation that he feels when writing his music or during his shows, they don't often explain the idea of the hands, but my guess is not being able to move or write music/express himself? They want to make a new character every album and wish to get away from Blurryface because of the troubles the paint is for them every show they perform. Also, fun fact : Goner (the last song you listened to) he wrote when he was about 17 in his basement and it is his favorite from the album. P.S. You can hear his presence in Stressed out, and Fairly Local (the deeper voice) In my opinion, I feel like this whole album is Tyler's constant struggles with Blurryface, and his fight to try to keep his head above water while Blurryface is trying to bring him down. But yeah, its kind of dark though :) Love your channel by the way

Blurryface kind of represents Tyler's insecurities. In stressed out, Tyler talks about his struggles and being forced to do things, and the pressure put on him, kind of showing how "Blurryface" is like what's telling him what to do, and making him Stressed Out.
Blurry face was originated as Tyler Joseph's (the lead singer) dark thoughts that tell him to do stuff he doesnt want to do and he mentioned blurryface in his past albums but this one was named blurryface because of how dark the lyrics are

no matter how many times ive heard all of their songs over and over i always get super excited every time they come on like i havent heard them in a long time i mean usually after listening to a singer/band for awhile ill get a little tired of listening to them for a bit but something about twenty one pilots is so different that i just never get bored of listening to them on repeat and im so glad that they are the band to make me feel that way and usually i dont always like every single song an artist puts out but i absolutely love all of their music

So the story behind Blurryface is that Tyler battles depression and he is really focused on his insecurities. Blurryface is the character that is Tylers depressed side of life and he uses that to get over his depression. He brings up Blurryface in a lot of interviews and he tells you what he means by Blurryface and if you watch you can tell that he gets very upset talking about that character in general. He has been doing a great job at handling Blurryface and he has been happier than ever. He states that the murder of Blurryface is because of him performing and expressing himself through his music which is now why Blurryface is under control and he is trying to kill him off now that he doesnt have as much power and that Tyler has most of it now. I hope that helps you out and that you can understand the story behind Blurryface.

Blurryface is Tylers "mind demon," or his insecurities. He paints his neck and hands black since those are his main insecurities. His voices and his creations. And the really low parts in a song, where he wears red eye contacts, that's Blurryface. Everyone can have a Blurryface, it's the voice in your head, saying "you're too fat." Or "you can't do that. Just give up." The discouraging part of your mind. There has been a rise and fall of the Blurryface Era. Tyler and Josh help each other with their blurryface. I love Twenty One Pilots so much, and it kills me to know they're sad because of their own mind 💞

The album has a ton of "sarcasm" throughout that you mentioned toward the end. I think more accurately, it's Meta, breaking the 4th wall, or simply self-aware art that the artist frequently alludes to said art from within said art :). Lane Boy, spends the first 2/3 trashing the constraints of "popular" music and talking about how they're different in that they don't adhere to them. All the while, sticking to those constraints. Then, with little warning, an ultra-chaotic dubstep bridge arrives to replace the reggae-ish drum and bass with ukelele before giving way back to the original groove, then a few moments of silence leads to an even more chaotic dance-heavy drum period without vocals and confirms everything they were saying, but not doing, in the first segment.
That's just one example, but knowing pretty well how they operate, every single similar occurrence on the record was 100% intentional.
If you have doubts, I suggest you have a look at the way they are guerrilla-crowd-source marketing their new album that is likely to be released within the next month or two. If you don't want to delve into Reddit, I think AltPress has a running article that sums it up pretty well. It's pretty nuts, in a genius, super-dramatic kind of way -- hey! that's probably a good description of their music :)

Btw if you didnt know already, there are only two guys in the band. Tyler who is the lead singer, and he also plays the ukelele and piano in a few songs and the other guy is Josh who plays the drums.
I would love love to see you react to Vessel from twenty one pilots. It is their first major public release aka first album under the label Fuled by Ramen and their third studio album. After you've listened to that you can check out their older stuff which is pure gold too! They have previously self released albums Twenty One Pilots (2009) and Regional at Best (2011) both so good.
Basically every song you hear is something you'll love over time if you give them a chance. Just give songs another try maybe.. (lane boy didn't clicked to me at first too and it's now one of my favs)
Also, most recent song is called Heathens and it is of Suicide Squad: the album.

With a lot of their (twenty one pilots) songs, I actually didn't get really into them until I listened to them more often honestly. Like when I'm listening to most of the album, excluding some, I end up listening to the songs I didn't use to like and slowly got into them idk. I think I have to be in the mood for certain songs to really enjoy them too but regardless, tøp are one of my favourite bands because of their really different and diverse songs and I'm really looking forward to their next album to see what it will be like

Just like in the album Vessel, Twenty One pilots likes to make up an idea or character. They created a character named Blurryface, who they prefer to express throughout their album. Most of their songs lyrics or ideas explain the entire Blurryface character that they created. The black paint over their hands and neck also symbolize this character, over the neck shows a feeling of suffocation that he feels when writing his music or during his shows, they don't often explain the idea of the hands, but my guess is not being able to move or write music/express himself? They want to make a new character every album and wish to get away from Blurryface because of the troubles the paint is for them every show they perform. Also, fun fact : Goner (the last song you listened to) he wrote when he was about 17 in his basement and it is his favorite from the album. P.S. CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DIDN"T LIKE LANE BOY, LITERALLY ONE OF MY FAVORITES!! But as soon as I saw TOP i clicked on this vid and I really like ur opinion.

I don't know if anyone has told you yet, but Blurryface is kind of like Tyler's (lead singer) depression, and all the anxieties that he deals with. You can hear his presence in Stressed out, and Fairly Local (the deeper voice) In my opinion, I feel like this whole album is Tyler's constant struggles with Blurryface, and his fight to try to keep his head above water while Blurryface is trying to bring him down. But yeah, its kind of dark though :) Love your channel by the way
