There have been a lot of negative comments about this video. True, this part is usually played by a soubrette (or a light lyric soprano), but perhaps they were trying to give the character a slightly more mature feel by choosing a singer with a somewhat darker voice. That's the beauty of music! It is subject to a certain amount of interpretation (within reason, of course). Although it may not be what the composer had originally envisioned--the piece is very well done, and her voice is lovely.
But who told you this is a soubrette role? Such definitions didn't even exist in Mozart's time, they didn't even make a difference between sopranos and mezzos. Soubrettes sing this part, they don't own it, that's all. Some great Susannas, like Freni, Cebotari and Söderström, were full lyric sopranos and even a mezzo like Bartoli can sing this role, which lies lower than a typical soubrette role would. Netrebko has just the right voice, however not the most usual in this role nowadays.
the recitativo is so HEAVY! She makes it sound like something tragic, especially in the beginning. Lovely voice, naturally, but not right for this girly part, I think.
when it comes down to it. Soubrettes don't stay as soubrettes forever because a soubrette is a young voice that hasn't matured completely yet. So they have to get light or full lyrics or in some cases coloraturas to fill in the role because they can't find a young singer who can to the role well. get over it.
Semplicemente straordinaria... un controllo vocale impressionante, timbro caldo e delicato, grande espressività ... cosa chiedere di più?
Oh, I love this version! Very, very beautiful. I think the emotion/expression is perfect, to me, it shouldn't be too light and playful. She FEELS! ;)
Very Beautiful!
Extraordinary!

Too quick of a conduction, for me. I do enjoy Anna's voice, usually, but this is not a role I can really see her playing.
disagree :)
