- Cosa Sento: Trio from Act I of Mozart's opera The Marriage of Figaro performed by Alison Hagley (Susanna) and Rodney Gilfry (Count Almaviva). This production is conducted by Gardiner.
Gilfry's Count makes this the funniest recording I've seen. - Видеоклипы
Basilio: Ah, meglio encora!
my favourite line. this basilio is so funny here.
i love this opera, as well as this version.
OMG i love the look on his face when he cops a feel lmao
His voice is amazing.
Excellent cast. everyone embodies their character very well. It's definitely the best version version there could be: the tempi, the staging, the atmosphere ....They have really found the right balance that this opera requires.
I believe I've found the name of this wonderful Basilio on IMDB. Francis Egerton is his name.
Thanks for posting. I love Gilfry as Conte. His arrogance in 'Hai già vinta la causa! / Vedrò mentre io sospiro' is totally convincing. You'd totally hate the guy if he wouldn't sing so well on such a magnificent melody.
Francis Egerton is the best Basilio of all times
If we'd be on a normal planet, then this would have 1 trillion views. This is how Mozart wanted this sung, played and performed, all are excellent and fabulous period costumes
I don't think ever in the history of opera, has there been a more perfect cast for this terzetto. This is what Wolfgang Amadeus had in his mind when he composed this music.
Definitely. That smile and raise of the eyebrow at 1:03 is hilarious.
I absolutely love this performance of Le Nozze di Figaro. After seeing a bunch of clips on RUclips I picked it up on Amazon and just loved it. Of all the performances I've seen, this one has the best acting throughout. It also really captures the comedic aspect of Le Nozze di Figaro. So many performances have it drag along killing any comedic pacing. While everyone is great, Gilfry absolutely steals the show. He is such a good Almaviva.
what a funny basilio!
and what a hot susanna!
Why not also mention the name of the tenor singing Basilio? Are character tenors not worth mentioning? Do their contribution to opera not have any value?
His name is Francis Egerton
I've seen a lot of versions of MOF and this brings out the comedy the best. And the ending is appropriately transcendent. One can quibble about this and that but this production is just so entertaining. A tremendous success and worth adding to any collection.
A great staging, since then I've been disappointed by all others here on yt. All's perfect: singing, conducting, staging, acting, casting...
And it's real comedy, just as it's intended.
@ 1:00 That eyebrow lift though...
Basilio is very very amzing!!
I want see more a sequel.I want going to
come japan him!!!
If anybody else here understands Italian, this scene is hilarious
questa produzione è veramente fantastica! :)
iot's really my favorite version i agree completely with you...
i'm watching this version on dvd right now, i love it :)
I love the tenor
I don't have to know exactly what they're talking to about to find the humor in it. I think the scene is hysterical and very well performed.
Great performance!
Nice one......i likeeeeeee it
Believe me, I don't :-) Of all Figaro's I have, this is the one I keep returning to...
really? wow, its amazing , i really like everything about this version n_n
Ich schrieb einen sehr schönen!
Bello!
Thanks reah1. I'll try to figure out how to post some of my favorites here (Riconosci..., Act-II finale, Dove Sono). The Gardiner version deserves more attention on RUclips.
This is great!
i own both, the CD recording and the DVD
Fer Nando stop
His lighter sounding "porvino" makes me giggle every time, too.
it's a 1994 performance in Paris. conductor is Gardiner.
Same here:)
Who plays Don Basilio in this video?
Mário Sampaio Francis Egerton
this is my favorite version :D
Jijiji Basilio se parece al abuelo Monster
which production is it? i can't seem to find this one!
A level music students?
Man I am In 2017 almost 18
POOR CHERUBINO!!!
I like this version, but there is something which disturb me: the accent of Suzanna and Basilio for exemple Poverîno, perfîdia
this production was from what year???
Haha, His Lordship and Mr. Gilfry are two different people. There is no reason to hate Rod , I should think:)
hehe The Count can get pretty handsy.
yes it may be perfect but not natural is it?
who sing don basilio?
Francis Edgerton
Beautiful chromatic 1:00!!
"Porverino", sorry.
