Having defeated the Campaigner, Turok throws the Chronocepter into a waiting volcano to destroy it. Unfortunately the blast awakens an even deadlier force - The Primagen. Once again a Turok is tasked with restoring peace to the land and stopping the Primagen from merging Earth with the nether world. Игры

I got the 64th thumbs up on this comment :P

Bro, i remember 4 player split screen deathmatches when i was a kid. The Cerebral bore was too op to the point where we had to turn it off in multiplayer.

Holy fuck this game has been elevated to half life levels of quality. This is literally the first proper version of this game.
Beware, oblivion is at hand...
I'd agree if they didn't downgrade the audio, simplify the explorative levels, and completely break the game's lighting. N64 is the superior version in terms of the game itself, while the FPS and control schemes and graphical options are better in the remaster, it still pales in comparison and is filled with graphical bugs. TL;DR: They deviated too far from the original vision. While they preserved the original Turok's feel in it's remaster, they changed too much in this one.
@@WerewolfMommy nah homie its better it pretty much every way...
Missing split screen sadly
They did a great job with the first game. I owned both, Turok 1 and Seeds of Evil for the N64. Just being able to play it at 60 FPS is a god send. But they did much more with it and even added mod support. And they didn't gouge my wallet for either. I like these devs. I hope that they continue this trend of re-mastering older classics.
They did shadowman...I'm about to play it now...I'm outrageously excited
@@DEE_EXXthat shadow man remastered classic is badass. I black he hell out of it a year ago when there was a crazy sale
Something else that you never mentioned: They gave out 25% discounts to anyone who owns Turok 1 HD, even the people who bought it for $5 to begin with. Night Dive is oficially THQ Nordic levels of awesome.
Also, quick note as you mentioned motion sickness in the original: Turok 1 did patch in options to turn off the Quake 1 style strafe-bobbing and head-bob, as well as adding an FoV slider. It also has a full level editor now, which somebody used to remake Wolfenstein's first chapter (with a Doom E1M1 fan-map if you can find the secret area).

Terrific remaster. I remember that it kept my sanity intact two years ago when I broke my foot at work and was stuck at home for a few weeks, bought, played and 100% both Dinosaur Hunter and Seeds. It was also fascinating too see how easy it was to navigate the levels and finding the objectives this time compared to when I was a kid (played without the new hints).
I had the 4mb expansion for my N64, bow down to me peasants.
Agreed - it's only really playable if you overclocked your console.
N64 Ex Pak master race
Damn I finished this shit on N64. Got a memory cars and the game to prove it lol.
No I didn't cheat. I did one entire blind clean run, I was a cocky child. It's hard but oddly satisfying.
Well semi blind, my old man helped me with level 1 and 3. He was edgy, played levels out of order.
I cleared the game on the hardest difficulty these days...
Sure is complicated, but after some time, you really get the controls and get used with the 10 fps.
one of the best FPS games ever
The N64 game that looks like an early PS2 title.
Indeed
Absolutely
Night Dive is to good for this world. We don't deserve them.
Very true. I have bought a bunch of their games and wish they had the Duke Nukem license
AMEN.....they are like the new Retro Studios...what they did to turok 1 and 2 is unbelievable.....and I just found out shadowman was done as well...about to hit start on it as we speak...I'm very excited to see shadowman @60 frames in super hi Rez.....IM DEAD☠️

Man, the stars have been aligning today:
I got a coupon for Turok 2.
The game itself is going onsale.
And finally, this review for the game just came out....
....Maybe its a sign?...Or just a coincidence. Heh.
It is a sign my friend. Go for it.
It's a cosmic event of the greatest proportions, dive in and become Turok!
I actually managed to get the original during the steam sale and havent played it.
Though I kind of wanna dive into Turok 2. (I was gonna do DOOM 2016 after I just finished/revisted DOOM II, but this caught my attention...)
Play both Turok games, they're awesome!
I got the coupon too. Do you own turok 1 on steam? Maybe that's why.

I was a dumb kid. I thought it said 'Beware Oblivion Is A Thand' ... I was like, "Wtf is a Thand?"
Are night dive basically gods at this point?
Yes.
No. Kaiser (the guy who actually made this) is.
They're also involved with the new System Shock, so hopefully all these projects will give them plenty of a fanbase to build off of.
you mean, money. System Shock already has a huge fan base, ND just need to deliver a tip-top game and that'll take money. I don't think they are gods, but I do think they are doing good things.
Yup. Night Dive Studios owns the full System Shock license, which was nearly lost in obscurity. They already made a System Shock 1 "Remaster" with updated controls and they are currently working on a System Shock 1 "Reboot." They also gave Otherside Entertainment, a new studio made up of former Looking Glass employees, license to make "System Shock 3" which is currently under development, which will be a direct sequel to System Shock 2.
i remember playing this back in high school. great review!
Maaan this brings some nostalgic memories into my mind.
I am so damn happy to see these classics get remasters.
Been having a blast with these turok remasters. Great review thanks.
Thank you for keeping your ear to the ground and a thorough critique.
Wonderful review. All aspects described. Thumps up!
Okay We got 2/3 of the Trilogy, All they have to do Is Remake/Remaster Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion and then things will be great :D
or evolution
Wasn't the issue with the third game was that it was a bit rushed? They may not be as eager to do a remaster of that one.
I think they would do it if they knew there was demand. 3 is underrated IMO, and just a few tweaks would make it great.
@@KetwunsGamingPad 3 was actually really good. They go for a storytelling half life style game and did a lot that really shouldnt have been possible on n64.
It was bashed because by the time it released, the dreamcast was out and the original unreal was out.
The n64 was kind of dead as a platform.
Thanks for reminding me about this game, dude. It's been a blast to play through recently. With the addition of save slots, it's so much more fun to explore than when I played on the 64.
Interesting hearing your review here and your previous video and how adjustments make a world of difference.
"I... AM TUROK!" Thank you very much for covering this remaster, Gggmanlives! This remaster is awesome. I particularly love the save system, and the direction markers. I feel like I'm reliving the first time I played Turok 2 on my computer again, only with more accessibility. Now we'll just see if Night Dive can pull of a Turok 3 remaster.
This looks like an excellent update. I'll definitely be checking it out, thanks for the review.
Never finished EVEN ONE FUCKING LEVEL in the original... Fuck...
cause they all godamn mazes!
But luckily the first level music (port of adia) is the best thing ever :)
It may sound really stupid but one way to aim better AND know where you're going is to pull up the vertex map and use the "You are here" icon as a crosshair. It really helps in both cases.
+Brian Colfxire Ha, that's a cheat as old as time. I remember doing exactly the same thing on Dark Forces for PS1, I figured it would have a battery or something because it seemed too unfairly helpful (like the IR goggles) and ended up playing through most of the second level without the map turned on. Welcome. To. Hell.
Oh god, compared to dark forces this game was straightforward. I spent more time finishing dark forces on ps1 than I care to admit. Fucking sewer. And that part when you have to run through the closing doors...
Hey Man, figured you should know: whenever I'm feeling so burnt out I can't even enjoy a game, you're my go-to. The only channel on RUclips I enjoy.
Thanks for making my life a little better. Thanks for being you.
great review. defintely picking this up.
I AM TUROK!
But is that his real name, or a code-name? I'm a little confused now.
@@QJ89 It's a title, like the Pope. The Turok series goes through a couple of different generations of Turoks.
Ahh man i just knew you were going to review this, thank you sir!
Excellent review. It was one of my favorite N64 games back in the day and I'm glad I'll be able to play it again with HD resolutions and proper keyboard controls.
Hell yeah sonny Jim, I've been waiting for this one
Nice to know that Im ur 43k subscriber. :) Keep the reviews coming :D
great review keep up the good content
this game is amazing. just played through it recently and it holds up so well due to the remaster, its such a fun game and i love all the different weapons you get. i love how fast Turok is and how you can strafe around using all different types of guns to kill enemies. The only thing thats annoying is getting lost on some levels. I had to look up guides on youtube, esp for The Lair of the Blind Ones. but I mean, thats kind of a thing of that game era. Many games didnt really point you in the direction where you should go. It was very easy to get lost, esp as a kid. It was a way to make the game artificially longer I guess.
I used to play this game like crack cocane. As well as golden eye and prefect dark.
the cerebral bore getting some love, that gun was so much fun. my friends hated me in multiplayer for using it so often. awesome review
Loved playing this game as a kid. The remaster is a gem. Great review
Great to hear that this turned out well. I was really anticipating their release of turok 2 since I played the remaster of the first one.
I've been watching your playtime on steam for this and I've been dying to see this video and can't wait to play this
Oh man, I had Turok 2 for the N64, and now I have it on my brand new laptop. And it looks and handles better than I remember. And it occupies less than a gigabyte!
This review (and Night Dive Studios) nailed it!
I remember as a kid turning off the blood on N64 not because of my parents. It was to receive less damage from zombies XD. That was the only time when censorship was actually useful... Man I wish there were more FPS like these and not like CoD...
Gabriel Mora you received less damage? I don't remember well haha
I remember very well because I could not save the game and I had to go through each stage many times...
@Gabriel Mora I remember that bit too, though i remember the smaller zombies couldn't hurt you at all with the blood turned off. I know the bigger zombies could still shoot fire at you, and claw at you. That's how i remember it.
I do remember that they were still able to do deal damage but it was a lot less than usual. I mean if you turn off the blood it will only the blood that deal less damage.
Hm, did you own a Black cart, or Grey cart (assuming you had/have the N64 version)?
I bought a paper round and worked hard to get 10 new customers, so I had 30 in total. They paid me 30p paper, and I bought the papers for 24p. Delivered 6 days a week. I sent them Christmas cards and got so many tips in 1998 that I bought Turok 2 and Zelda. Best Christmas ever. The multiplayer was the first that I remember that had head shots. Brilliant.
Night Dive has killed it with their reamakes. I would love to see them do some more games from my childhood!
Excellent review. Really good writing and pacing.
You’re 100% on point! Great work
My childhood memories!!
this game bring back so many memories...
THE SON OF STONE HAS RETURNED!
Yup, Turok is back!
GGMANLIVES is THE BEST ! one of my favorite channels ever !
Dang. Great Review. You're really making me consider buying it now. Especially since I came here the first day you posted this. lol
Remember playing this game very well, Turok SOE & Goldeneye were my favorite games for the N64.Hopefully they will bring turok back someday, especially with today's grafics.
I just Subbed to you Dude. Love your work man, Keep it up!
Man, I loved this game when I was a kid! And it was tough as hell! I'm definitely getting this version to relive some of the memories!
Just bought this game. Brought it home. I'm sitting here with it still wrapped up in the package. After seeing your video I now know I need to take it back. Thank you
I played the shit outta turok as a kid. Can't wait for turok 3 remaster!
It's probably the best looking n64 game around too. And it's cheap!
Turok 3 was one of my favourite N64 games. A remaster of that Lovecraftian masterpiece was exactly what I was thinking about while watching this!
Turok 3 never had a pc release
I know. best you can do nowadays is get an emulator to play it
Lazydesmond You're too loud
I love these upgrades. Can’t wait to play this now. I wish they’d redone part 3 too.
The game looks insanely over the top and fun.
I played the original as a kid. Still play it sometimes. It's insanely awesome. :)
Its an awesome game, start to finish
@@garosama4517
Not really. The level design is pretty bad.
@@civilwarfare101 its confusing, yes. Game still makes up for it
@@garosama4517
I wish it did. The level design ruins what fun I could have.
Loved this game as a kid and still do, so glad to see it getting some much deserved attention.
oh man, i loved the weapons in this game. that cerebral bore was epic! that nuke weapon was crazy too
I remember this game from when I was a kid, being part of the games I inherited from my cousin when he gave me his old Nintendo 64. Now, it was the year 2000 and I was 6-years-old, so the game freaked the fuck out of me, but I came back to it a couple of years later and found it very interesting. I'm happy to see the remastered truly makes the game shine.
Oh man, i used to play Turok back then, and it was amazing.
Really good review
Oh boy, I need to get on this.
Turok 3 wasn't my favorite but I also want at this point lol I guess we have to wait another year maybe 2
Elitist Prince Dizzy yea Turok 3 wasn’t the best, but it was still pretty fun and I’d still love to see nightdive remaster it the way they did 1 and 2.
I doubt they will do 3
There never was a pc version of Turok 3 :(
@@superemepwr Doom 64 and the PS1 version of Powerslave/Exhumed never had a PC port, and yet Kaiser was able to create their respective EX ports.
It wouldn't be impossible to create one.
Who said Night Dive won't make a third remaster?
These animations(weapons, deaths) are really awesome.Even on this years!
It pisses me off that big budget PC titles can fuck up so badly then little Nightdive comes along shows you how to do it right.
crazy how 6 years ago you mentioned the system shock remake. and now today we finally have our hands on it!
Playing this with sister growing up was fucking awesome. I miss the old days
the nostalgiaaaaaaa
Oh the memories, this is one of the first games i ever played. My gaming career started with Turok 2 :D
I never go far in this game as a child (or any game for that matter). This review has made me want to try it again, so thanks!
I never played Turok 2 back in the 90s, but man does this look fun!
I played it as a kid and it gave me night terrors of being eaten by dinosaurs.
Very happy to have this downloading and the next four days off. Just started Final Doom with Project Brutality, UDV, and HQPSXMUS mods as well.
thanks for this review, it answered all questions i had about the remaster and more. still hoping they do an xbox one port so i can play it.
Watching this video while I'm installing this. I have it on N64, but I always had trouble getting past the frame rate, even back then. Can't wait to go through this remaster.
Wow this remaster looks great!!
Glad to hear the ND Studios is doing well by these old games - will definitely pick this up during a sale.
I found the majority of the difficulty do be because of the infinitely respawning enemies. It pissed me off to no end trying to find the last item I needed for three hours fighting endless waves of enemies that respawned every time I turned a corner, and the levels in this game are frickin huge.
That´s what I loved about the Doom games. When an enemy is dead it won´t come back, giving you all the time in the world to look for secrets and buttons and the like.
I remember as a child a friends dad driving us to a friends house, who had borrowed a N64 memory card. This was an out of town friend so it been a while since we’d seen him. When he gave him the memory card, my friends dad hold it up and says,”it’s good you didn’t lose this, it’s got all of Turok 2 on it and that shit took forever.”
We used to play multiplayer but use a gameshark to teleport to single player and boss levels. It was fun fighting each other when a boss was also hunting you.
THANK YOU. This review does the N64 Turok games justice. I am glad they made remastered versions for both games.
GG!
In case you didn't realize the first two Turok games already had PC versions back when the N64 version was released, it wasn't a N64 only game.
Bought it no questions asked. They did a great job on 1 and i want to support them in doing more of these. I even got 2 discounts. 25% via voucher and i think another 25% (might have been a bit less) for being an owner of 1. Glad you were pleased with this release and that it came out in good shape.
Review...Is very good man...XD Great Voice..This is the game that made me good at csg!!
I just got through playing this in the last couple days and it was just as good I remember it from my childhood. After finishing it I learned that they altered the maps a bit to make them more streamlined, but I didn't notice at all. Probably because I barely remembered the original maps. Still, it was an amazing remaster. Hopefully it got the game more exposure because it's a really great FPS.
It's good to know this remaster fixed all the issues you had with the original PC port.
Solid review
What was missed in this review (moreso for the original version) was the games split screen, which I remember having a blast playing.
This remaster is freaking fantastic!!
ive always wanted to play this game, time to give it a go
i love blood splash FX in this game
I remember playing 3v1 multiplayer where three people were hunters and one person was a raptor. Raptor claw headshots were the best.
0:45 "Nightdive have done a pretty bang-up job" just as a lizardman runs through the wall. Good remaster. I just thought it's a great timing for this bug and narration.
Beautifully remastered, will purchase right now.
I disagree, it still has a ton of bugs from the original release which weren't even fixed, and the graphics weren't even fixed up at all, all they did was add a few graphical effects like bloom which clash with the old graphics.
I was happy with splitsceen deathmatch being included on a PC port!
The blood in these games are the best!! I know it might not be realistic but damn it's satisfying
Every single time there is a weapon that vaguely resembles a boomerang the Aussie loves it
2:21 Firestorm Cannon, my favourite Turok 2 weapon!
The blood looks better (resolution aside) looks better than most games these days!?
Awesome no nonsense videos as always
I REALLY liked this game when I was a teen. The variety of weapons is impressive, even nowdays.
Man I loved this game as a kid -the cerebral bore was so cool lol
I used to try the demo of this on our family computer, which was way, WAY below the required specs. I somehow managed to get it running, but with a framerate of 1 frame per approximately a minute. Maybe now's the time to finally get it!
