Kids got it so easy these days. No wonder they're amazing players at such young ages. All you gotta do is watch a few hundred well put together videos like this and voila!
Instant musical genius.
Back in the day you had to rewind the tape and listen to it and play it a million times and actually figure it out by ear.
Who here remembers stacking quarters on the needle to slow down the playback speed?
I wonder how much better I'd be if I had the internet when I was 6.
Right! Rewind over and over and over!
imagine leading the way in snowboarding before tech and culture caught up...
hmm thats such an interesting point, and you're right we really do. I'm almost 15 started playing guitar two years ago learning through videos like these.
I think its really cool i could just search this up and learn something like that, it makes it a lot easier to learn the guitar and I can play a ton of songs and I'd say I'm quite good.
But you have something I don't have, and most kids who learn this way won't either. You can figure it out by ear, and have such a deeper understanding of the instrument.
Anyways I think that's really neat, that you still figured out this whole instrument through what I imagine must've been such a long process! Even with all these resources its quite difficult so wow!
or maybe they better than u cuz they better than you no excuses
Robbie has some of the best Guitar Tutorials on RUclips. He's the perfect mix for people who don't need him to spend a ton of time just teaching chords or strumming patterns. He methodically goes through each chord expression of the songs; playing them out to recognize the part of the song, then going through each individual part of that expression the tying it to the next. I'm sure teaching is a completely different challenge than just playing. Many props sir, you're doing a great job!
Thanks so much Jeremy! I'm glad the videos work for you! Thanks for watching!
Got it, thanks for the refresher. The intro is simple if played in context...Pretty simple
I think you nailed it your teaching style is great for an audience who has some familiarity with guitar if you aren't at least familiar with your open chords to the point where you don't need diagrams this isn't the song for you to learn the intro has a lot going on. For players who know how to hammer on and play around with scales inside of open chords you really helped show what was happening and made the song accessible
Thanks!
You’ve been my go to of late as I learn guitar up in Canada! Great lessons that are clear and detailed… and love you add the vocals to help understand the song.
Glad you're enjoying the videos, Thank you!
Thanks for the great teaching. You're very calm and easy to follow. I pick up your songs really well. If I want to learn a country song, I go to you. Thanks again!
You're welcome Nicholas! Glad you are learning from the videos. Thanks so much!👊🎸
Great video mate - you started off teaching really well, but then it feels like you forgot you were recording. Took me longer to learn the ends than the start, put super helpful! Liked and subbed
Thanks Dylan👍
Excellent job of teaching everything you need to be able to play the acoustic guitar part on this fun little tune. I was asked to play this and was not familiar with it, but you brought me up to speed in no time. Zack Brown's got a very catchy tune here and I see why he is well-liked.
Great idea to split the video, giving us a closer look at each end. Kinda looks like a mini guitar haha.
I was hoping that would be helpful! Thank you!
I been playing for a long time an when I need to learn something the right way I always look for your videos 👍
Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for breaking this down so well. I was having a little trouble with the timing on this one. A few minutes with you and I got it. You are a great teacher! I look forward to more tutorials. Thank you.
Glad to help!
I have been waiting for this one! Thank you my guy!
You're welcome! What did you think of the lesson?
@@LearnGuitarFavorites loved it!
@@nmccormick8656 Thank you!
Nice Robbie, I always enjoy your videos but your fingerpicking ones are always my favourite. Thanks again for all your time and effort.
Thank you Duston! Glad you enjoy them and I'm glad I am able to do them for you all. Are you pretty good with fingerpicking?
Ive come along over the last two and a half years or so thanks to you and a few others I’ve found on RUclips. I’ve been playing for quite some time but hit a wall and lost the passion as I stagnated, but thanks to you wonderful people on RUclips it has come back tenfold and I’m always excited to check up and see what little tidbits you have in store. I’ve never been one to learn by ear and never learned to read tabs so these are invaluable in my continuous goal of improving.
Awesome that you are getting back into playing and improving! Thanks for sharing!
Robbie is great for learning songs... active melody is the all time great for learning learning learning.. active melody
Loved it, so helpful!!!
Glad it helped you, Thanks!
Thanks man!
Great tutorial! I was able to learn it in 2 nights thanks to you.
Glad you got it quickly, Thanks!
Very helpful! cheers
Thank you so much I feel like I have the hands of a god now!
Always wanted to learn this intro, and thanks to you ....I now do 😊🫡🫡
PROS: The only person playing this correctly on RUclips.
CONS: I know how to tune a guitar and play chords. Also, splitting into sections would help as opposed to going through the entire tab extremely slowly.
You rock brother. Thanks
Thank you Josh!
Thank you! I did figure it out so the video was really helpful!
It was just a little bit unclear at times, but nothing I couldn't figure out from watching your fingers and listening to what it sounded like.
It would also be really helpful if you mentioned what the chords were in the chorus and verse , though again nothing we couldn't figure out from watching.
Thanks again!!!
Glad it was helpful for you, Thanks for the suggestions and for watching!🎸
So I love this gives me something to build up to is there a sinple strum version i can do to get used to singing snd playing it?
Great instructions, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Wqs difficult but pushed through now I can play it thanks 👍
Way to hang in there and get it!👊🎸
Great, thank you
awesome
extremely hard to following along on this one, if you can explain it deeper next vid would be much appreciated love the content!
Well done Robbie, I worked with Randy Wood for a while. You would fit right into that cool Savannah vibe, take care
Really love your videos but this one was hard to follow. Would you consider recording it over?
Thank you so much!
You're welcome Douglas! Thanks!
Thanks!
Thanks was very helpful
Glad it helped!
I wish I could Learn it but he’s just playing it really slow for me and showing me he can play it
Whatt bro he its a lesson he has to play it
Think you could play it now?
@@kydennuorala9723well he just kind of moves too quick and with not enough explanation for the beginners but it’s fine if you’re more towards intermediate or advanced
Maybe you just need to practice more instead of expecting it to be handed to you on a silver spoon- outstanding teacher
@@austind9351 your right but I don’t think it’s a bad thing because I don’t think beginners should attempt that intro. By that I just mean if you can’t follow this lesson then you probably won’t be able to play it. Like a deterrent or something lmfao. Idk I thought it was a great lesson and I followed it easily.
Omg i love this song dude
Can you play it Sam? Thanks!
Not yet im still lost when going down a half step tbh but yh ill get it
@@samedgar4122 Oh ok, let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
Great vid
Thank you!
ty so much...
You're welcome!
really good video
Thank you so much! Glad you thought so!
Could you possibly do Parker M new (unreleased) “ stoned” ?
How did you do that riff at the end?
Great lesson! I understand the strumming pattern for the chorus, but what about the verse. Looks like you are picking the bass note then a single strum, repeat then on to the next chord? Thanks
Thanks! Yep you can pick a single bass note and then strum on the verse.
Amazing Videos! The clearest and most concise I've seen on youtube. Can you do "you would think of me" by Tucker Bethard? Only video I can find is the one he released on youtube.
Thank you Ryan! I'm happy to hear that! Tucker Bethard is so great, I'll check that song out. Thank you!
Can you teach me toes In the water by zac brown
I’m a new guitar player. I just started 3 weeks ago. The video started off really well but I got really confused around 4:00 - 4:40. Could you make a video about how you learn songs yourself instead of teaching a particular song? I feel like that would really help me and I hope I’m not the only one
That takes practice but it can be done.
Best part of knowing how to play some songs is to hear a specific notes.
Is there a tab of this
Are there different versions? Your into is really close and sounds great but is it spot on note for note?
@@Chris-5446 This is not spot on
3:35 what’s the strumming?
Great lesson!
Thanks Michael!
Please do Knee Deep!
Great tutorial. The only suggestion I have is make it slower for us noobies.👍🏻🤠
Thanks! Sometimes I have a problem of not slowing down enough..I'm sorry about that.
Nice work! Very helpful because I need to learn more of the finger picking thing.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! I think your arrangement is (mostly) right, though the first part of your translation differs from how ZB plays it. Not entirely sure yet where they differ, but if you play your translation along the original, the first measures do not match timing wise.
I know its not the same but it's as close as I could figure out by listening. Thanks!🎸
@@LearnGuitarFavorites Well note-wise your arrangement is quite accurate, don’t worry about that! Just the timing in the first/second measure. Other than that your video has been very, very helpful so thanks a lot for that 💪🏼😃
amazing lesson i just cant get the timing on the strumming pattern.
I'm sorry, Did I go too fast in the video? Maybe just try the DD DUDU pattern slower for a bit. I'm sure it will come to you. Thanks!
@@LearnGuitarFavorites no the speed and video was great I just have to keep at it keep at it keep up the great work.
@@juliansemenuk2727 Ok, thanks. Hang in there and it will come. Thank you!
Lesson started off great, but it began to get extremely confusing around 4:30
Good video, but I wish you explained the hand picking pattern more. I do better hearing what to pick than watching your hand move. Still a good video. Better than any others I found.
Thank you Jacob
Is there a tab for this?
There isn't yet, But I'm working on one that will be available in the membership area. Thanks!
What are you doing in the verse?
DDU DDU Strumming pattern
Learn Guitar Favorites Thanks, really appreciate the video.👍🏻
Learn Guitar Favorites Are you picking the base note then doing DDU then on to the next chord?
@@nmo799 Yes at times I'm doing that
Learn Guitar Favorites 👍🏻
Great video, but in both this video and the older one, you post the wrong G chord diagrams which are confusing. You leave your ring finger on the 3rd fret of second string but the diagram shows you should be playing third on first. Otherwise, great video. I was jumping back and forth between the two to learn this song.
Thank you, I'm glad you were able to learn from it!
there are many ways to play one chord
Tabs?
I'm sorry, I hope to have time to spend making tabs in the future.
I can't for the life of me figure out the strumming pattern for the verse
I thought a half step down made the notes flat not sharp🤣 now I’m confused
It does make them flat, but an E flat is the same as a D sharp. And an A flat is the same as a G sharp.
You know you don't have to teach 1x speed. Going back over things can help
Literally pisses me off that he just walks right through it, it’s supposed to be a tutorial you’re supposed to tell me how to do it not just show me how so annoying
how did i know the tuning was a half step down 😭
Where's 1?
If that's a question of me saying 1 at some point in the video, it probably means 1st string.
@@LearnGuitarFavorites No, I mean the first beat. It's a very off beat sounding rhythm. I did find elsewhere that the first note is on the fourth beat of the first bar and that there is a 2/4 bar in there also.
Slowed down like this it sounds like you could make a completely different song out of it
Like the song shit teaching
Thanks
Mate u forgot u were recording and just played the song u did t explain any of it
Newbies will say hee isn't clear haha he is clear as Jesus when he preached
Ur not clear enough. But I love the video
Sorry I wasn't clear enough for ya👍🎸
@@LearnGuitarFavorites but you sound amazing!
Do legend of the South By Ryan Upchurch
Thanks! I'll check that one out!
If your tuning the guitar "down" why are you indicating the actual string pitches as "sharp?" Shouldn't you refer to the "E" string as being tuned to "Eb" as opposed to "D#?!?!" Bizarre.
I'm not sure why I do that, I guess because those are the notes that my tuner says.👍 But I get what you're saying.
dude you went way to fast explianing this i can not get the fingerpicking done because you don't show how to do the fingerpicking
why the hell are you tuned down a 1/2 step ?! what`s the point ?
Only because that's how they play it.
Bruh u skipped the second half of the intro
chopped
It doesn’t look like you’re strumming down down down
Sry but 5:19 was really confusing
Sorry about that
he literally didnt tell us what he was doing he just did it and left that part to tutorial out
its up not on
U rush too much
Sorry about that man...
Yea I kinda agree
Good news, This a recording. You can rewind...duh
does anyone else not realize he just plays the D section and doesnt actually explain what to do whatsoever. he says u hammer on third and hit second then just nothing else just plays until the C chord comes. wtf
well because all you do is hammer on the third and pick the second and then you move on to C
First I want to say I like the two frame video, however you really need to know the song before you teach it... it seemed like you were learning the song as you were teaching it. Also please don’t throw in tabs that wont even be played. You put a D chord in there and never even used it. Last thought is if you are going to break down a song into sections don’t keep playing the last section over and over. It adds to much confusion to the lesson.
Thanks!
HOW THE FUCK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHICH STRINGS U ARE PICKING!!!???
Dude can you pick it up!! 💤💤💤💤
