    I have Bermuda in my backyard around 500 sq feet. It’s not doing as good as the first 2-3 years. I have about ~70 sq feet of one area that weeds took over and grass is pretty much non existent. Clovers starting to grow in patches in other areas. Should I over seed with Bermuda? Or is it possible to seed with another grass type?

      I cut down detached and aerated because I had a wonderful stand from the first of the year or from September last year here it is the end of September here I'm a month late putting down which is why I did what I did at any rate by the spring I had the most beautiful stand of cool weather Grass ever was and then two floods came so from the streets around me they flooded me covered me up with crabgrass Dallas grass nimble wheel I don't even know man and lo and behold drought and I think what struck me was either either some kind of fungus or it could have very well been grubs or both at any rate destroyed it so there's your answer to why I went through the whole rigmarole again you know cut down that an area the difference being this time rather than put down like an overseed which I know last September was the first oversee this long has seen I suspect and close to 40 years as it was a rental I just don't believe that my roots got a good enough grab to handle those first two floods and therefore they just didn't make it well this time I put down enough seed for a brand new yard so I hope that should it take like I said I just finished last week in September going into the first October I am late in north Alabama. but if it should take I should have enough of three different fescues to choke out anything we will see. Captain out

      Well grace I have always taken good care of my yards, however until last September I had never done a complete overseed.. It was so beautiful until so until All that stuff happened. I'm pretty lucky I've got a pretty fair stand of the perennial Rye grass And appears that some of my festives have survived the cool weather. I'm pretty sure you'll be good.. I've already cut mine once. I think I'm gonna wait to put out my Preemergence to about middle to end next month.. I'm going to get a jump on all this stuff I inherited from those floods.good luck.Nutin prettier than a well kept lawn.

So I waited late to complete the job. My grass was hard. I watered it in the morning, but it wasn't long enough. I wanted it damp before seeding. Oh well, I hope it will be ok. I hope I didn't put too many seeds down. 😊 I scarified only. I'm 62. My body starts to hurt after I'm done, but not during. Better at cutting and edging 😂🤞🏼Great video. I didn't watch first.

    I would think since you are really just trying to keep the seeds moist so they germinate, you would want to water more frequently but much less time. Maybe 3-4 times a day but maybe only for 5 minutes a time.
    Wish my grass was available in seed. Unfortunately St Augustine is sod and plug only.

    • @TurfTherapy
      @TurfTherapy  2 года назад

      in normal circumstances yes, you are correct but as I stated because of my micro-climate, I was able to water one good cycle and it stayed moist for the entire day due to the shaded area not drying out.

    Looks good. I did something similar but I think I chose the wrong seed mix. Only thing that stands in spring are "clumps" of Bluegrass, which I guess was in the seed mixture. Everything looked like it was filling in as the germination happened, but Spring is a different story. perhaps the mix included an annual rye instead of perennial.

    Very nice video, very similar to what I just did with about 45 dead spots of sizes ranging from eight inches to five feet wide. Garden weasel, peat moss spreader included. I did a Jonathan Green Black Beauty seed mix of tall and fine fescues, perennial ryegrass and Kentucky blue. The only difference was I put down some Scott's soil down after using the weasel and before seeding and sowed it in with the weasel. Then I applied starter fert and peat before starting the watering process. One thing I learned for me was the sprinkler was taking too long. With all the areas I did it would take three hours between watering and moving the sprinklers since I do not have a water system. I started walking around with the garden hose and a hand held sprinkler and hit each spot with low volume but with a good soaking. Takes me a half hour. Getting good results so far.
