If I'm not mistaken the panel requires 176 staples per un-cut sheet... that seems like a lot - but if it stays flat, eliminates creaking and assures dead-step underfoot sound, I'll do it. Having said that I'm laying it over Durock that has been scrapped of thinset and putting a 3mm sound deadening pad under it to flatten the floor as much as possible then 3mm pad on top/under a 3/8" engineered bamboo click plank to do all I can for best possible moisture blocking and to get an extra durable resilient walking surface. And as an extra measure of overkill, am keeping my fingers crossed. 🤗
If you find cutback adhesive on the subfloor, cover it first with plastic. Otherwise there will be a tacky sound as you walk across the new underlayment.
Is it necessary to tape the seams prior to finish floor being laid down? I’m installing your ironply under luxury vinyl planking. Please advise, thanks in advance
If you have forced air heating, lift out a floor vent and then pry one side of the duct far enough inward to slip a tape measure down beside it, hook the tape on the bottom edge of the subfloor and read the mark on the top edge of the subfloor.
Is it just me or at 1:56 does he not say make sure the underlay seams do not match up with the panel seams, then 5 seconds later he staples down the underlay directly over the panel seams??
I am working on a 40 year old house. The old staples are 6" apart. To rid the foor of squeaks and groans and whispers, I am needing to staple every 2-3". So - dont skimp - do it right. Granted staples have improved but 6" apart is too far. The old underlayment is otherwise in great shape and none of the old staples are popping up.
We directly use Allure on sub-floor, especially if it looks like this floor before he laid the underlayment/sureply on top. I can see this very useful for vinyl squares. We do this in our mobile homes we rehab due to using vinyl rolls or squares
Nathan Richmond Every 2 inches - they want you to drive a fastener into the panel. They call for this at the edges - but for the remainder - just use fasteners at the 'X' marks preprinted on the panel. Yes- this means a lot of fasteners or staples being used.

Monte Mraz because they were not driven perfectly flush or just barely countersunk with the subfloor but instead left sticking up, proud of the underlayment surface.
Why should the customer inspect your panels? If they're not up to par then don't sell them to people. How ridiculous is it for you to expect us to inspect them carry them all the way back to the lumberyard if they're bad and start over. I will never buy this product

Can you use this on top of leftover glue from peel and stick someone had laid down some peel and stick on top of subfloor

How do you staple under a toe kick?
Shouldn't you guys inspect these panels for the farm at it before you sell them to someone?
'Inspect our panels, they are crap, but it is on you if you used them!" LOL!

you should reach out directly to www.patriottimber.com/ if you need an answer in a short time frame.
Who doesn't remove the baseboard and casing before doing subfloor and flooring??
what if you don't know how thick the sub floor is? I don't want to tear it up to find out what size staples to get.

jasmasmasm hahaha right
jasmasmasm do as I say not as I do
I saw the same thing
Can I lay 1/4in cement board on top of this product
Why so many staples ......I don't think it would move under the flooring
There are standard specs for this. Every 2" along all edges and every 4" in the field.
why dont you use construction adhesive between sureply and subfloor?
It should be staples or nailed not glued down because the glue will not hold the underlayment properly.
That's a lot of nails. I think about 1/2 of that is necessary.
I totally agree!!!!
What about concrete subfloor? It can't be glued?
Don't use wood on concrete, put floor directly on the concrete if it is flat and dry. Otherwise you need a plastic subfloor/moisture barrier
I learned a lot thanks
What if you don't have any sort of stapler? :(
1 1/4 inch ring shank underlayment nails

Sure Ply Company,
Shouldn't it be you who looks for defects like bubbles ?
Because it came from China
Why is this needed? Why not lay flooring directly to subfloor? That subfloor looks perfectly new.

Why can't you glue it down?
barsoom43 cause it you ever have to pull it up you would have to rip up the subfloor
What does 2 inches on center mean?

@jasmasmasm LOL You are RIGHT! "Do as I say, not as I do!"

Why are the staples coming up through the vinyl?
Monte Mraz because they were not driven perfectly flush or just barely countersunk with the subfloor but instead left sticking up, proud of the underlayment surface.
why not screw it down on older floors...not staples
it is not thick enough for a screw head
Nice video thanks.
Looks like it...
