Love it. You have such a strong fundamental understanding of chess that it help me when you explain the meaning behind each move in these complex board states. The histories behind the games adds quite a lot of depth and makes for a really engaging experience. I appreciate the hard work you put into your craft!
YOU HAVE NO IDEA! The Kings Gambit has became my favorite opening in the past month, and I’ve been watching lots of videos on it, and I even saw this game BEFORE on a video I watched! That is the definition of divine timing. Thank you 🙏 Edit: that repeating is great! And showing the queens gambit similarities, great! Makes the video longer too, win-win.
I love the idea of having something like an "enlightened classmate" rather that an all knowing teacher. Hearing you speculate on why some moves where played was very usefull.
Seconded, I hope he's inspired to do many ongoing videos and series about opening theory, especially when he presents them by riffing off beautiful example games like he does so well 😊 This video combines the best of all his styles/themes IMO
I really love the way you teach in your videos it’s obviously a lot slower than real chess but you don’t ever make it feel condescending and chess can often feel like something so huge and massive that there’s no room for beginners. The more I learn I realize just how dramatic and different each match is! I’ve always wanted to learn how to play and I find myself more exited as I start to actually understand everything
I like the new format - it's nice to hear your thoughts about possible moves. I think it also encourages the viewers to do the same before seeing the actual moves, which I really like.
Love learning with your videos. Perfect pace, mellow m ml focused. It's excellent, I've learned a few openings with your videos. Idk why it feels appropriate to mention this, but I'd like to share this story with you: I started playing chess about 5 years as a grown woman. My son loved it, it was a chance to learn something I'd always wanted to learn and, most important, an opportunity to hang out with my son 😊 (I'm also certified mediocre at Nintendo (many consoles, MANY games), as well as Pokemon, Zelda, MTG, Nerf gun warfare, and a few others). I became increasingly interested until I was reading books on chess & taking notes. Now we play for real - cut throat. I'm so happy I learned, it truly feels liberating to the brain, & helps problem solve in every day life situations. But most importantly, we spend quality time doing something we both love. Let me say, I’m only halfway through the video but so far I am loving us going through a game together, it’s really cool to have the same thoughts and it feels like we are learning about a famous game at the same time. It’s very surreal! I would enjoy more videos like this where we are going through iconic games together for the first time!
King's Gambit is my favourite opening for white! Nice series idea :) I'd recommend showing a game with the Muzio Gambit (a line of the King's Gambit), especially the Triple Muzio Gambit, one of the craziest most sacrificial openings there is
Want more of these videos please! What an amazing concept, instead of trying to figure out alone we can now disect matches played by GMs and learn openings in asmr. Also the setup, lighting and angle is spot on. Subscribed!
Great idea! It's never occurred to me before it would be so fun to see him discuss games like this in a streaming format, if he would enjoy doing so. The element of having a chat/live questions would be fascinating to see!
Your channel remains criminally underrated in the chess scene for now, but I've been commenting about it all over the place! Your algorithmic-heyday is coming soon, I'm sure of it 😁
I like the King's Gambit with 4. Nc3 as recommended by Simon Williams, leads to some nice lines where you can sacrifice an entire rook or simply allow black to capture a knight on f3 in order to get a massive attack.
Hmmm...this approach is most interesting! Slow and steady analysis of a top game...looking at possible alternatives also...no stupid music, just a quiet voice over, so, all up, let's have some more! Thanks! Also, I really appreciate having the pgn readily available for a quick and accurate reference!
Love the concept. Hope to see this format with alot of different openings. Kindoff like an introduction to the open, and also a famous game high level game where it's played. To make it interesting for yourself aswell, you could choose openings you don't know much about. then we both learn, you do great content and we consume it. :D
Great to see the thought process unfolding in real time as you learn. Very helpful for an improving chess player. Studying the theory to understand why certain variations are best would be interesting.
Coming back to this video a year later, still really love this opening. I tend to play pawn D4 after they accept the gambit and I must say seeing black hesitate and eat up their clock wondering how on earth they're supposed to respond to that, gets quite addicting.
This was so helpful, I reviewed a few other games with this opening and finally felt comfortable enough to play against some of my co workers who are in the 1100 to 1500 elo range. UNDEFEATED today.
@@ASMRChess have you ever made someone genuinely upset and resign while using the dragon Sicilian? That happened in my 2nd game today after I checkmated with white and the kings gambit again.
Loved this. I say pick an opening and dissect it for a month using different games as examples to explore variations. You can also throw in articles about the openings and variations to get famous chess players` take on it.
19:43 Queen takes h4 is not wrong but just not the best move according to stockfish. allthough if white plays bishop takes d6 like you said black is crushing with pawn to g3, threatening mate and the bishop has to sacrifice to stop it
I enjoyed this a lot, but it's so relaxing that it put me to sleep on about five different nights so I've very little recollection of the beginning by the time I've reached the end 💤 success! I would like a little more finger drumming on the board etc as that is so tingly.
I really like the format. There is a really great game between rapport and adams in the kings gambit. Maybe a game like that from nowadays, than some old history or something
Great video. If you’re looking for interesting top-level King’s Gambit games played more recently, Vasily Ivanchuk has played a few nice ones. Ivanchuk vs Leko (2020) is a good one - Agadmator made a video covering it at the time.
your videos are amazing but could you do another one about learning a chess game when blindfolded as it was with the opera game? it really helps with visualisation . Fantastic work😊
This would be so cool! I recently started trying out the Invisible Chess podcast and I'm enjoying that so far, and I think I was mostly inspired by/made to believe I could truly learn to visualize chess because of successfully memorizing the Opera Game thanks to our wonderful creator here. 😊 It'd be so cool if he made content to help train that skill too. Could be an interesting way to change/play around with the visual medium by showing a blank board sometimes and showing pieces other times as he sees fit, etc, idk
as a six or seven year experienced(?) asmr consumer, i love the idea of chess classes on asmr. Nevertheless, i think that it will get better if the ambient & table sounds are louder as the voice, or lower the voice
I think this is a great concept. It's riveting to watch and very enlightening. Seeing your guesses come true is also fun, because we viewers are also guessing. One request: I felt a little let down when you revealed that Fischer resigned. I wanted to see what checkmate would look like from that position. Can you show us some speculative endgames and wins?
Yes I try to show a checkmate sequence whenever possible. However grandmasters often resign 20+ moves before checkmate because they can see the game is lost no matter what, and that can be hard to show.
I agree that blocking with the rook was a little odd since the attacking piece was on the diagonal. There's no inherent threat to the pinning piece. If the Queen was on a rank or file, the Rook would have been better. The Rook was stuck the rest of the game. May not have mattered, but interesting, anyway.
How about some history inbedded in a reviewed game. I dont have any perticular in mind but there was always some interesting political tension going on. :) Loved the video!

five pawns on the fourth rank by move five- such a characteristic King's Gambit position - unique and crazy looking to me - love it.
