As someone with no talent, who's still just barely not cracking 800 after almost 2 years of play I gotta say while other chess yters are very entertaining I always feel like I learn from you the most. Without your opening vids I would probably still be sub 500.
The last tip... is the best tip I've ever gotten for chess. I get way too anxious to play chess because I'm too afraid to lose. The perspective that the pain of the mistakes I make are actually me improving, makes me feel a whole lot better. I didn't expect this to be so EMOTIONAL. Thank you so much 🥺
I was totally not expecting to hear a quote from dune at 6:30, I am currently reading the book and it is amazing, I am glad to hear that you are also an avid Scifi Fan
Something I love about your channel is that all of the tips you've shared here have come up in your other videos at different times. You do a great job introducing and reinforcing sound chess principles throughout your content in a way that makes it easy to absorb.
Your videos are the best. I love your perspective on playing and enjoying the game. I struggle with wanting to be "perfect" at something the first time, and with chess you tend to lose a LOT at the beginning. It can be disheartening. Your videos really help me to "lighten up" and enjoy the process!
Its maybe just me but theres something reassuring about the way you make sure each piece is just perfect on its square while youre explaining things. I love it!
to sleep or to learn that is the question? dude your the best.. i just love your content. watching u has both improved my chess and improved my rest. thanks asmr chess.
I'm 800 and aware of all these principles. However, it's always nice to have a calm, relaxing video that summarises them all and reminds me of these helpful rules! Thank you for this amazing video! :)
I love that he immediately said "to be respectful of your time, the best tips are 5 and 10" as if my ass isn't here to sleep for the next 8 hours ❤ keep it up AChessMR!
At 39:38 that blunders the rook. And same with the second position. Unless I am missing something? I am sorry if this was a simple mistake, I love your videos and I have learned so much from this channel.
Haha! That is true! I love that you are paying attention and spotting mistakes! That is exactly the mindset needed for chess improvement and it also helps me improve my content so it is a win-win!
"A beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct" The opening line of Dune is also an incredibly apt chess advice I've found myself following
@ASMR Chess great video as always! Just wanted to point out a tiny mistake though. @ 40:15 you show how to make a discovered attack with the rook and king vs the knight and bishop. But unfortunately this particular example does not work since with black to move, the bishop can simply capture the rook and both threats are gone lol Love the content, you've single handedly gotten me into chess and ive gone from a complete beginner to a current rating of ~1000. Keep up the great work!
Good job man and keep it up, tho i do believe he did notice and just didnt have any other example ready and just decided to roll with it. gl on ur chess grind and i hope to see you in the higher ratings ^^
The way you go into detail on every tip on why and how it works as well as doing analogies is very helpful because it makes it easier for me to grasp the concepts 💚
These types of videos are my favorite for ASMR. Although I am not a beginner, it is extremely refreshing to be able to look at chess through a simple and concrete perspective, and it is also very relaxing. Also, I noticed that at 24:13, you remembered the opening from your previous video. (Unless this one was recorded before)
Actually, the term "rookie" in sports isn't directly derived from the rook in chess. It's believed to have originated from the 19th-century military term "recruit," which referred to someone new to a group or organization. Over time, "rookie" became the term for a player in their first year in a professional sports league. The rook in chess, on the other hand, gets its name from the Persian word "rukh," which means chariot.

I am a beginner I’ve been playing for a month and I have gained skill quite fast. I’ve gained 100 elo in two days and am at 700 now. I know how to play decently, it’s mainly just about practice and playing games to get better
Sorry if anyone has been giving you a hard time for just trying to up engagement on something we all enjoy so much, I found that the other RUclipsrs I watch for chess I learn far less from. Patreon tier idea: analyse one subscribers game per month for the patrons?
God I loved that I won my chess tournament like 20 years ago mainly from all these tricks in 3rd grade probably only one who played chess with my dad on a regular lol beat the principle too, not too hard just strategies and goin on, never played a pro, probably had all memories and how to counter, never did that just nice starters and go from the there, computer is annoying as shows all possible movements. Dumbs it down more, part of it is going off of random stuff
My elo is around 700 but i give up when i blunder, even if it is a strategy i missed or sum. My average “game rating” is 1100 - 1400 but when i play some games and quit i end up at 700-800 elo. How do you control your emotions and stay focused after messing up?
You will most likely lose most or all games if you’re a beginner, but you can still have an amazing time, learn a lot and have a great experience at the board!
To understand tip #8 think about this, if 99 lions are chasing you and I add 1 more, it’s no difference but if no lions are chasing you and I add 1, it’s a big deal
I had to look up the etymology of the word rookie after he said it comes from playing out your rooks early! And actually no, it had nothing to do with it lol.
hey , i tried playing checkers last night an what a mess i got into they didint even know how to play checkers they were jumping my pieces backwards you cant jump my men backwards untill you reach my king row an get a king only the kings can jump backwards they need to learn how to play checkers before putting these games online
Yes! I made a mistake there. However it may be to our advantage since it shows that we cannot look apply tip, trick or tactic in isolation since we may then miss important factors in the position like I did. Well done on spotting this and not just taking everything on authority but instead thinking for yourself!
Thanks for the suggestion! Actually ‘coherent strategy’ is a perfectly acceptable term in English, but I love that you guys are paying attention and think of ways I can perhaps improve my content and language! www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/coherent-strategy

What is the chess set you use?
Hehehe, 31:54 seems like I’m not the only one who took note of the particularly different way that “o” in fork is pronounced in your dialect.
Where did you get that chess set!?
Always wondered what your rating is? (I’m a beginner and not very good) Just wondered what someone with your knowledge rates in at.
My peak is a little above 2000 FIDE
My elo is around 700 but i give up when i blunder, even if it is a strategy i missed or sum. My average “game rating” is 1100 - 1400 but when i play some games and quit i end up at 700-800 elo. How do you control your emotions and stay focused after messing up?
The key is to detach your ego from your elo. The beauty and joy of chess is in the moves, the adventure of playing and not in the result of the game.
So you can't move how many steps you want when you have the white pieces?
no
What kind of board is this?
As a garbage player who is somehow 1600, I see this as an absolute win
5 and 10
Really neat to relax after that crazy Armageddon tonight. I was rooting for Firouzja. And my adrenaline is quite high right now

no, it had nothing to do with it lol.
Can anyone tell me what chess set and board this is?
how can I get this set ?
You should give a bot a 5-6 move head start and see if you can still win
At 41:27 why not capture the rook with blacks bishop? Is there some illegality? To me it looks like that would be blacks advantage
A mosquito flew in my left ear at 1:04:45-1:07:10 lol
It has taken YEARS to train the ‘binaural fly’ to come in at exactly the right moment. Hope you liked it!
