    I can just SEE Jimmy Stewart or John Wayne galloping up on a horse, leaping off, and hiding behind those rock slabs and pointing a rifle out from them....perfect place to film a western hilly gunfight eh!!

    Beware of free campsite #4. It is now the unofficial parking lot for rock climbing companies. If you like vans & trucks randomly pulling into your site during the day, then you will love that site.

    Neat area just off I-80 and about 15 minutes from my front door in Laramie. The area is pronounced "veed-a-voo" which means, roughly, "Earth Born Spirit" in the Arapahoe language. Also, this is not far from some really nice alpine areas in the Medicine Bow Mountains about 30 miles west of Laramie.

    It's free because you practically have to buy an off-road vehicle just to get down to the lower campsites. The roads nowadays are less than low maintenance. My wife and I take my jeep down there sometimes if we really feel like roughing it. The upper campsites are little "nicer", though.

    • @NomadicRamblersAdventures
      @NomadicRamblersAdventures  2 года назад

      We didn’t think it was that bad and you have to pay for the upper campground. It’s hard to get a site in there in the summer.

      @@NomadicRamblersAdventures perhaps there is another section of the vedauwoo campground. The roads we always take are far from flat and smooth.

  • @BillSprague

    Did look for Golden Eagles? I’ve seen lots of them in Veedauwoo. The name mean “Earth Born Spirit.” The color is from pink Felspar in the Granite.
