Making Basic Sourdough Bread

  • I show you how to make Basic Sourdough in the Kitchenarm Bread Maker.
    This is super easy. If you don't have someone who already has some sourdough starter I'll put the recipe here along with the bread recipe. Enjoy
    Basic Sourdough Bread
    This is for 12 Slices / 1 1/2 Pounds
    2 cups Simple Sourdough Starter ( recipe below)
    2 tablespoons water
    2 tablespoons melted butter cooled
    2 teaspoons sugar
    1 1/2 teaspoons salt
    2 1/2 cups white bread flour
    1 1/2 teaspoons bread machine or
    instant yeast
    Place the ingredients in your bread machine in order as listed.
    Program the machine for Basic Bread, select light or medium crust and press start.
    When the loaf is done, remove the bucket from the machine.
    Let the loaf cool for 5 minutes.
    Gently shake the bucket to remove the loaf, and turn it out onto a rack to cool.
    Simple Sourdough Starter
    Makes 2 cups
    2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
    2 cups water (lukewarm)
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    In a large nonmetallic bowl, stir together the yeast, water and flour.
    Cover the bowl loosely and place it in a warm place to ferment for 4 to 8 days, stirring several times per day.
    When the starter is bubbly and has a pleasant sour smell, it is ready to use.
    Store the starter covered in the refrigerator until you wish to use it.
